As someone who became disabled from a work accident I feel ya. Almost died from high voltage electrical shock, and fell 15 feet onto my back and broke my back in a few spots and herniated a disc. The shock have me a tbi which resulted in narcolepsy and ptsd. It just so happen that it also triggered the beginning of my psoriatic arthritis which runs in my fam. It took a few years to get onto medication for it. I totally feel for anyone with back problems and/or arthritis. It's a painful thing to say the least. The emtb helped me drop 75% of the weight I gained from immobility to a fitness extent. I'm glad you're doing well and out there riding. She needs an emtb to go into her quiver. They are life savers, no joke.

I hope you see this Beth. I have a similar disorder that the medical establishment was useless to solve. After a super deep dive I found some info on autoimmune disorders and how people were having great success in getting to ketogenesis by eating THE CORRECT keto diet (I stress CORRECT). I tried it and never looked back. The improvement was profound. I took it one step further and started to water fast once a week for 36-40hrs. Another big improvement. Then I went "kitchen" sink and ate a carnivore diet. It eliminated all of my symptoms. I am a little skeptical that carnivore is the heathiest choice long term so I cycle it. I'll eat carnivore for 30 days, keto for 60 days repeat. It's a massive lifestyle change.......but it's a whole lot better than the alternative pain, uselessness and depression that comes from that. I hope this helps.

Hi Beth, I am so sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with the disease, I actually have the same and have had the same symptoms and am probably receiving comparable medication. What I wish someone had told me earlier is that your diet is the most important thing when it comes to our disease. Please look into an anti-inflammatory diet online and maybe talk to an expert. Changing my diet has made it possible for me to get off most medication and has helped me get back to an almost normal standard of living again (except my diet and all the other problems that come with our disease). Also what I found to be positively affecting my ability to ride bikes was doing it in the morning, after my morning stiffness had gone away and the medication started to take away some of the pain. Shorter rides are beneficial, too. Wishing you all the best and if you've got any questions, I am always happy to answer them, Jan

I have a friend who received the same diagnosis a decade ago. I was living with him at the time and saw first how just how extremely debilitating this can be. Ultimately he made some radical changes to, of all things, his diet which significantly reduced symptoms. He did it all through self-exploration and trial and error eventually finding a raw carnivore diet to be the most beneficial for him. His improvements were beyond expectations and he lives a full and pain free life now. I'm obviously not saying this will work for Beth but diet has such massive impact on the whole body and if there subtle allergies or inflammatory reactions to foods that Beth is unaware of, it can cause a lot of issues with this diagnosis. I think there are panels you can do with blood work to help get to the bottom of some food allergies (or DNA sequencing maybe?) but I'm not 100% sure. Anyway if you want to get experimental this might be another layer to explore to help move forward! Good luck and glad to see Beth back on the bike!
@ElHorste2 жыл бұрын
One thing immediately springs to mind: Mikhaila Peterson and her dad, Jordan B. Peterson, hell, her mom too! They all benefited greatly from a carnivore diet. At least as a tool, an elimination diet, to explore the impact of different foods. MIGHT be one of the way forward for the lady!
@CP-qx2ff2 жыл бұрын
Good advice on doing the allergy bloodwork panel. Many with autoimmune conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis benefit from cutting out sugar and processed foods. The nightshades such as tomatoes and peppers also cause inflammation for many people.

Sorry to hear Beth, but keep your spirits up, and stay as positive as you can! I just want to say that I understand some of the things you are going through mentally. After only getting really into biking 4 years ago, and really getting into it with my son, this past spring I was diagnosed with a form of leukemia. Although it's not affecting me physically that much, it pretty much destroyed my mental game, as far as biking went this past year.. biking probably would have been the best thing for my mental health, but there were things I just couldn't get past. Anyway do what ya can, when ya can, and just being with the boys as support and the occasional ride is probably the best thing you can do for everyone!

Definitely touching on what the future looks like in my opinion for gravity oriented riders. Granted specialized sold dual crown equipped ebikes several years ago but early ebike stigma created a user base of predominantly middle aged men, new to the sport who had limited fitness and technical abilities yet plenty of money for expensive toys. I think that's created this taboo thing of ebikes and dual crowns in which the opinion is they're very much not cool. Yet on paper they absolutely make sense. I have a moterra that came with boxxers and before it arrived I was looking at zebbs for all of the reasons above, took it for a ride with the boxxers and it was such a throwback to my days of riding downhill bikes. Turns out I'm keeping the boxxers. It just rides soo good 👌🏻

For everyone wondering why no company makes a 200mm DH ebike, it's because no company wants to. They don't want to be the first to cross the line between MTB and E-MX by putting dual crowns on them and cop loads of shit. Once it happens though, I bet the majority of companies will follow suit.

with 20mm more of travel in the front, that's quite a change of geometry, not always for the best. Me, I've added 10mm more to my 160mm enduro (now 170) and while I enjoy it on the downs, I reaaally struggle more pedalling uphill on steep fire roads or tech climbs. Those are both things that I do often and enjoy (especially tech climbs) so I'm really considering going back to 160mm and putting some tokens so it sags more and is easier to weigh the front on climbs. I think 20mm more in the front really quite ruins the good climbing ability of an ebike as well
@TheLoamRanger Жыл бұрын
The cool part is that when you go to a dual crown fork, the axle-to-crown height typically lessens by about 10mm for the same amount of travel, so you get a free 10mm of extra travel before you change the bikes geo. 👌

Bess, I’m sorry you’re going through this. I’m a 57 year old man and I though I may not be able to ride when I was 50 due to pain in my lower back, knees (I went to the doctor and my right knee was diagnosed and cleared to have it scoped), Could barely straighten my arms due to elbow pain,constant headaches and had a rising PSA topping out at 6.25 ( not good) I went to 2 urologists and they were screaming at me to get a biopsy. I asked if there was any way to lower my PSA to which both doctors emphatically said no. FF 2 years of KETO, fasting, block fasting, did 0 carb for 3 months, topped out at an 11 day coffee, tea, water and no sugar electrolyte only fast and all my inflammation is gone. My doctor ran out of the examination room when I asked how it was possible I lowered my PSA when I was told by all the doctors it could not be done. Now my wife and I eat organic, NO DESSERTS, NO JUNK FOOD, cook at home, no corn or seed oil, we do OMAD (one meal a day) and do a strict fasting regime fasting every Monday and Friday, once a month do a 72 hour fast and do a once a year strict KETO week then a 5 day fast for longevity. I’m not a doctor and its only one man’s story but don’t suffer and definitely do not get hooked on pain and anti inflammatory medication the pharmaceutical industry pumps into the population. At 57 I just had the most fun summer riding 90% DH (just got my first DH bike a week ago!) and plan to ride to 65 at least. Look into Dr. Berg, dr Darren Schmidt, the snake juice guy ( he’s a little crazy but he really wants to help people with autoimmune diagnosis’s) and many others on KZbin. Good luck and remember you can save you.

Initial response: Got this bike for my friend. kzbin.infoUgkxUiL0GnyDjP32RJdd660sP8mZk4CRLTCJ Delivery was fast. And the friend was surprised I would order it when she had never suggested she wanted anything but the pedal bike she had. She has now ridden the bike two times and gives it a 10 and says it is very fun. We have some hills in our town that are very challenging to climb on a typical bike. But tonight she went up with the pedal assist and loved it. I was way behind on my standard bike, huffing and puffing. Now she is no longer lagging behind me. This thing is powerful enough that a person could go around town without any pedaling. She likes to get some exercise so on flat ground she hits the red button to turn off pedal assist and only uses the twist throttle when she's in a tough spot. The bike looks good. It is really a very nice bike for the friend. Now for me, when I get an electric bike, I'm twice her size and will be looking for a bigger watt motor and battery. But this one is just wonderful for my friend. I am happy with this purchase.
