So during the shuffle, each of the members change into another members outfit and sing the one they changed intos original song. You can see their actual outfits before the change. They also do all the dancing themselves. Hololive has a large studio for motion tracking that each member goes to. They can also build an at home setup, but it isn't as accurate as the studios.

They literally requested Mio's manager to ask her to make karaage to test their new studio's capabilities. Mio's reaction to all of this? "I hope they ate the karaage after they were done." The fruits here iirc were just built by some god tier 3d artists on staff since this was done in the old studio.

The "most replayed" moment in this video also is because there is a moment in-between the bazooka transition where Noel (1st one) is smelling Subaru's (2nd one) cap. That moment is there for a couple of frames, just before the rabbit girl. So, when everyone is looking for an specific frame in a video, the "most replayed" shoots up in that one second

Moona is from the Indonesian branch, but they had streamed together online quite a bit, and had become good friends. There are little things that come up, like Subaru going through the door, which is a gag that came up during Noel's original live. For your reference. Noel -> Subaru. Subaru -> Noel. Polka -> Flare. Botan -> Koyori. Moona -> Pekora. (They gave Moona a modesty shirt since she's much more... blessed compared to Pekora.) Chloe -> Shion. Watame -> Towa. (You've reacted to both artists, and even to the original song itself - Fact, by Towa) Suisei -> Aqua. Miko -> Suisui. (Its a gag that Miko sings Suisei's Stellar Stellar randomly during streams badly, but the truth is she and Suisei are really good friends behind the scenes. They form a unit called MiComet.)

Yes, this is all prerecord and also highly edited. The animators get all the motion tracking data for the dancing etc. and then readjust some things like finger movements, mouth movements, facial expressions etc. Hololive does have a really great 3D tracking studio and even the finger tracking for live recordings seems pretty good, but stuff like mouth tracking usually looks a bit wonky.

Knowing more about Hololive helps you appreciate how fun this was for the girls too. Noel is big fan of Subaru and she got to dress up as her and sing her original song AND have Subaru dress up in her outfit and do her song right after. No-one was prepared for Haachama doing "I'm Your Treasure Box", she looked like she was born to wear Marine's outfit XD The Shuffle Medley 2024 is amazing and Kureiji Ollie's Medley is really really good, and probably what inspired the Shuffle Medley's in the first place.

Hello! And the "shuffles" are usually at the end of their janurary concerts so the 2023 shuffle would be last years, and was my first one too! Only 2 minutes in and to answer your question.. that is probbly, 90% chance here, of that being real fruit that hololive 3d scanned. They did the same at a later date for a piece of fried chicken...... Yes. Edits: You nailed it! during the shuffles they do outfit swaps! Although these are played as the new years finale of the concerts, they are pre-recorded and usually have some comedy skits before hand, also all pre-recorded. As for the video itself , it is fully mocapped with some animations layers over it such as throwing the wand from one stage to the next. With the shuffles and concerts improving each year, hololive unveiled the completed 17.6 Million dollar (USD) studio that took 2 years to build, they have multiple soundstages just for motion capture as well as separate booths for use for songs and other content. Each mocap sound stage has over 200 high spec cameras to help capture the most accurate performance possible. To answer the question on if they do their own dances. Yes! and some of the talents have had their friends help when it comes to coming up with their own choreography! Now as for the costume shuffles, In order we have: Noel (swaps to Subaru) The short haired tomboy Subaru (Swapped to noel) Polka (swaps to Flare) Botan (Swaps to the alchemist/chemist Kiyori) ((extra bonus note the cute little mascots with her are her fan representatives... they are bombs..)) During the transition to the next song we have 2 or so frames of noel sniffing subarus Cap she was wearing, which is THE most replayed part of the video.. Anyways! Moona (swaps to Usada Pekora who for the last year or so has been the most watched vtuber/most subscribed japanese vtuber) Then we have Hacchama swapping to Marine for treasure box. Chloe (swaps to Shion) Watame (swaps to one of your other favorites, Towa) Suisei (Swaps to Aqua) Lastly for transformations we have the Elite Miko swapping to suisei. In the end we wrap with the Suisei Miko duet, a pairing lovingly called MiComet by the community!

I would absolutely watch longer form content, like concert reactions, if you ever feel like giving them a try. The New Years countdowns, which this shuffle medley is from, contain most of the talents from within the company and tend to be 80-90 minutes. You also can't go wrong by just picking one of the people you've liked from your reactions and checking out one of their 3d lives. Those tend to run an hour, or a bit less, and some have guests join them, others are solo.

The shuffle medley is a new year thing and is a real treat for Hololive fans bc is full of references, inside jokes and easter eggs. If you want to experience some of the amazing things they do live you canr react to the free parts of HoloFes (their annual concert), you can find those in the Hololive official yt channel. It is really amazing, I went there this year and it was so much fun experience the whole thing in person.

At least in Hololive, they do the mocap themselves. It's why there is such a VAST difference in the choreo in the different swapped songs. Some of the artists (Subaru, Haachama, Chloe, Suisei) are very skilled at dancing. Others (like Botan and Noel) are less skilled so they have more simple choreo.

7:10 Regarding your question about costumes and genres: As others in the comment explained already, the point of this Shuffle Medley is each member outfit changes to another member's outfit and sings that member's original song. So in this case, the performer is Shishiro Botan (the white lion) dressed in Hakui Koyori's outfit (the white and pink labcoat) while singing Koyori's original song "WAO!!". Koyori's design and motif is definitely centered around the "mad scientist for an evil organization" vibes, while Botan's is more of a laid back and confident lioness on the savannah. Typically, they debut very heavily leaning into their character concepts, but over time adapt their own personalities or additional lore into the mix as well. Botan's rocket launcher transition is a nod to Botan being a VERY skilled FPS gamer. But the reason that was the most replayed part of the video is in the transition: As the rocket passes by one of the previous sets (Noels' set with all the fruit) in the background, you can see Noel (the first performer) huffing the hat she borrowed from Subaru to perform Subaru's song "Pleiades". Noel was a huge fan of Subaru from before Noel joined Hololive, so... yeah, she can be seen "appreciating" her idol's scent.

So about the most replayed moment...It has something to do with Moona(the purple haired girl) and the original owner of the bunny outfit, Pekora. There is a HUGE difference between their build so Moona was given a "modesty" top to be a little in terms with KZbin. They also swapped cuz they have a history of having great chemistry and there are videos wherein it showcases how they met up until being dear friends to this shuffle medley

* Hololive Shuffles are usually a thing they do at the end of year special, where they swap outfit/model with another member and sing one of the original songs of the latter. * On the live-tracking... partly. The singing is live tracked, but the transitions and skits after the singing are CGI generated (MMD). All of the shuffle is prerecorder. * The models usually are done in batch of 4 or 5 *before* they get the people using them. But usually are the new vtubers to choose what model to use between them, so in the end, usually they broadly link to the personality of the people behind. * There are some exceptions to this, like FuwaMoco. They are a real pair of strict friends (sorry, they aren't IRL sisters) that always have streamed together, so Hololive delayed the debut of their generation to prepare two custom models that reflected that. * Ironically, Botan is one of the most educated ones in Hololive, being a uni graduate and in general pretty smart. But she was using Koyori's dress, and I don't know how much Koyori's is really linked to science... * PekoMoona! It's a long story, but basically Moona is a long time fan of Pekora (the real bunny war criminal girl of Hololive), so much that in the start she was really shy and worried about the language barrier - moona is indonesian and speaks only a little of japanese - but really wanting to become more friendly with her, and thank to a little push from Iofi, another vtuber in her group, she slowly closed the gap with her idol, so she was very very happy to sing and dress like her. * Haachama being haachama. Akai Haato aka Haachama is know to be one of the most to push what vtuber content can be made, and this time choosed to sing and dress like Marine, another that often pushes the limit on the sexual side. * We don't talk about how much Chloe fills up Shion's dress. * Watame is a sheep - an eternal sheep for precision. She smashes Towa's Fact as only her can do. The chains are part of Towa's character and Fact is about ... BDSM in a way. * SuiAqua - Suisei in that year was really trying to become more friend with Aqua (that is really shy, social anxiety borderline, IRL), so she is in Aqua's dress and sing one of her originals. As other comments have said, the most replayed moment does likely to do both with how much people love the PekoMoona relationship and with the appeal of Moona in Perkora's outfit. That said, Moona Hoshinova is definitely a premiere talent in Hololive. She's from the Indonesian branch and is one of the best all around performers. I highly recommend checking out some of her songs. Perhaps start with Who's Toxic? It's You or maybe High Tide. I also definitely think that of the songs included in the medley, the one Haachama used for her little strip tease is worth exploring fully. It's originally by the delightful Hoshou Marine and is called I'm Your Treasure Box. It is something to be experienced. Shuffle Medley 2024 is really good too. Longer, with more talents involved. Including a couple from EN, while this one was all JP other than Moona who as said is ID.

I don't think thwy normally use other people infact sometimes other talents will play the faceless background dancers in someone's show but the company for all its faults does give them both singing and dancing lessons and also like the real kinda hush hush is i can take 100 tracks of motion capture data and find the must perfect 1 second for every 1 second interval out of the 100 takes cut them together and put that performance as the finished product

Maybe you should watch the "Can you do the Hololive" 2024 version. It's not a hit song, although it is a song, but it mainly just shows all the current Hololive girls. I'm not sure it's a good reaction, but maybe if you wanted to comment on the look or design of all the girls. Some of your confusion may have been cleared up if you knew the characters and how they normally look. Really wish you had left this until you were more familiar with the Hololive. But it's hard to know when to say it's a good time to watch this particular video. Like, do you want a list ahead of time of all the songs covered by the talents? But then that kinda destroys the surprise of the video, doesn't it? If you want to understand the scene when Subaru falls through the green door for example, watch Shirogane Noel's "Lyrical Monster" original song. That music video is wild!

OK, whoever recommended this to him without explaining it first, you're the reason I'm cringing, and shame on you. Shuffle Medley is not a live performance, it is a music video developed by their in-house animation team. In it the talents sing and perform a rendition of an original song created by the person who normally wears that outfit. All of these were not motion capped, at least not by the talents themselves. There are Vtubers who do hire dancers to perform for them. Ironmouse, who is disabled and cannot walk, has done so multiple times for her 3D performances.

It’s just that all of it is prerecorded in advance over a long period, and then handed off to an animation studio to make it into an MV with seamless transitions and effects.

But to answer what you said here, I'm not sure it was rotoscoped, I'm not that knowledgeable in video media after all. But I'm fairly certain they actualy danced during this. They added some effect here and there on post prod, but the dance move themselves where most probably done by the talents themselves. There are too many hints of it to be easily animated, the postures are to perfect for their personalities, too many little movements that we wouldn't think about animating but are usual for them, stuff like that. But hey, the most important thing is you liked it! I can't wait for you to see the next one, it was even bigger and better!
