I just bought myself a Super Clod Buster yesterday and also am looking at motor options. Initially i was looking to just go for Tamiya Sports Tune(23T) as thats what the stock ESC will take. Maybe i’ll run that for a while until i feel it needs more power than perhaps run a brushless with the Hobbywing 880 dual motor.😈

I would orient the gear boxes so they face the same direction to eliminate that problem. If the front and rear are different than order one or the other.

Clodbusters need torque. If you get the adjustable plate so you can use a different pinion youll see better results, or use a 550 size motor like the titan for the old e-maxx

I think they are fine just as they comes in stock, maybe if you upgrade both chassi and suspension you could add more speed and torque =)

Glad the timing is adjustable. You don't need to reverse the wires... As long as the front motor has positive timing, and the rear motor has negative timing, you're good! I'm still building my Super Clodbuster, silver cans, 3S Battery, but I've done modifications outlined in my latest Video.

Very cool clodbuster The power you would be looking for would be coming from something like at least a 16 turn I would go even deeper like 12 turn you'll see a noticeable power increase with 13 tooth pinions which are stock I would highly recommend upgrading to some good pinions. I personally liked running the Traxxas EVX speed control with two 21-turn 550 motors in my truck but in order to do that you have to run four link bars and they will touch the floor link bar. What I run in my truck now is twin 5200 KV brushless motors

Stock gearing is too high for the 21t motors .try an 11 t pinion but you’ll need a kit to do it ..13t and 11t pinions make a clod fly

Thanks for sharing. I like the chassis, I tried to 3D print their BTA steering, but my first design wasn't strong enough, I haven't made another attempt. Anyway, I installed 2500KV brushless motors (which I think are close to equivalent to 17.5T) on 3S LiPo battery, and it made the truck significantly faster. Maybe if you switch to an ESC that can handle more voltage (Hobbywing 880 can handle up to 4S LiPo on dual brushed motors), then you'd find the speed that you need/want.

Great video Edward. I just ordered 2 Holmes Hobbies 21t retro sport motors for my build, as John Holmes himself recommended them to me.. I’m not looking to be super fast, just a bit more power than stock😁

Maybe a brushless motor with more voltage will help 🔵🔵🔵👍👍👍🙂🙂🙂🔵🔵🔵
