Rails and tail bones are great for saving your board and tails definitely help with board slides but you can feel the weight difference for sure

I got the Waltz ones. I got tailguards because I'm new to skating and learning to manual so I keep scraping my tail

Decks wear down fast too (from my experience) so a couple 14$ purchases every month lets say is better than a board every 10 months

Always thought about them, might have to give a try cause i keep my decks forever but they all got the razor edge

I’ve got some Zenit tail guards, too. I love that they fit the board well, but I also felt like they wrote down super fast. They are a softer material than, for instance, my Landyachtz slide glove pucks. I’ve wondered whether other companies, like Seismic or Powell, use better/stronger plastics.

I run Waltz tail skid plates and order them in 3's because I do chew through them. Brilliant for freestyle on anything but polished concrete. On that surface they are much slipperier than the board, and I have to be super careful putting any torque on the tail. Still... wouldn't do without them now.

Using a regular board could you actually do tail slides with a tail guard? Cheers
@OgdenSikel7 ай бұрын
They are pretty slick, so while I haven’t tried, I’d imagine they would work for tail slides?
@darlingimscared2 жыл бұрын
maybe want them to be wearing down fast means they're lighter maybe? just a thought. I want to try one on tail but abit weary of the weight if I'm honest

Maybe try a different brand of tail guard next time. Plastic tail guards ought to be way more durable than the wood of your deck. They should wear down slower, not faster than a typical deck. I have a powell tailbone that seems pretty durable to me. It was certainly hell to saw and sand it into shape, way more labour than working with wood. Also, if you ever want to fill in the holes that you've made in your deck, toothpicks and wood glue is the old wood-working trick. Should be good as new once you've cut and sanded them down.

I slapped a tailbone on my omakase the first week I had it. Word of advice, the plastic on these things are EXTREMELY hard. You're gonna want some power tools like a sawzall (reciprocating saw) or a jigsaw, and take your time. Clamp it on, mark out where you need to cut/drill, use a vice to keep your stupid meat fingers away from the blade and just take your time chipping away.

Makes sense if you doing tricks, but if you're cruising there really is not need, right?
@JohnMichaelBurns2 жыл бұрын
Depends on whether ollies are a part of your cruising. If not then tail guards probably aren't necessary.

If a tail guard wears down to the point of replacement, then would you be able to drill it in the same spot?
@OgdenSikel2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, you could drill the holes into it from the pre existing ones on your wooden deck into the new ine

i have a loaded tan tien, how do i get the right ones?
@OgdenSikel2 жыл бұрын
if you're ordering zenit ones, definitely go with their smaller size. They still might be too big for the tan tien though...Not sure if I know a pair that fits perfectly for the tan tien currently...
@elproff0072 жыл бұрын
This was my question. Rode street style in the 80s and 90s and recently picked up a Tan Tien for free riding and freestyle. Haven’t ridden it yet because it’s so beautiful and I know I’m going to wreck the tails. I take it the wrap around tail guards are not well suited for freestyle. Guess I will find the smallest hard tail guards I can and cut them down if necessary.

hi i would be very grateful if you gave me some advice🙏I checked out your video on longboards vs cruiser but im still a bit unsure what to get. Im a total beginner so was thinking to get longboard as its said to be easier for beginners to learn, smoother on sidewalks etc and more stable as it has more surface area, but then cruiser is much more portable and easier to navigate, and maybe safer?. Also whichever I get Im unsure of the size- i found a crusier on sale that is 28" in length and 7.25" wide but idk if thats too small?
@chemofish39822 жыл бұрын
it really depends on how you are going to use it. like if you just wanna cruise and go fast then get the long board, but if you want one for transportation and or practicality, then i would choose the cruise board… but i have one of each and enjoy both of them, so it just comes down to personal preference.
@williamhess3113 Жыл бұрын
@@chemofish3982 Longboard is much smoother and more forgiving. As you get better, you'll be able to do more.
