Best time to use the cage is during an aurora borealis, combine that with the merlin luck boost and you can get sea mine easily. I did one earlier with only 60 cages and got 5 sea mines lmao

Btw, make sure that u are doing it during clear weather, for an example I got 6 sea mines in 300 crab cages during clear weather whereas during foggy I only got 2 in 300 crab cages

the luck affects when the cages catch something, so as long as the luck is still up when the cage gets something, you're fine. Tho id reccomend getting luck first
