You absolutely can have more than one mouth. I've evolved as a carnivore but kept the cell stage herbivore mouth as a decoration and I was still able to use it to eat plants and sing. Just know that if you remove it you won't be able to get it back. You can keep as many of the cell stage parts as you can afford. In nature you'll have predators that sometimes eat plants and herbivores that sometimes eat meat, like when deer eat birds, so having a main diet of plants or meat and still being able to eat some of the other is realistic. Also I think you'll be able to do social displaying from the start.

squigglespout description even though there doesnt need to be one: The squigglespout is a semi-aquatic scavenging little creature that prefers to eat seaweed and algae, as its a shy and timid species yet it is still docile and friendly, but then it is threatened it can make electric waves that can go up to 20 volts or 80 volts.
