I have just bought the Outsunny 3x6 enhanced structure one, as a temporary measure while I am building my first tunnels permanent one, and I cannot believe how unfit for purpose it is, total rubbish, and everyone should be told that. Thanks for sharing your experience. 👍

Oh my god 😢😢, my poly tunnel is actually a 2” piped car canopy converted and luckily I’ve had it 8 years. The only damage is me poking holes in it 🤦🏼‍♀️. I leave my strawberries out even under snow. Hope you can use it for something, happy gardening, Ali 🌦️🇨🇦

Thanks Ali! It must have had a strong gust get under it to flip it! I’ll be able to do something with it, there’s always a way! Have a good week!

My comment is more to do with that type of covering. I had a very small greenhouse from Wilko with exact same kind of cover, I had it several years and once it was no good on the frame anymore I tried to use it as a low wind block by attaching it to chicken wire fence. Why I'll never use that kind of cover again, the little squares of plastic fall out and get all over into the soil! You know how we gardeners are, repurpose and reuse, well not a good idea with these cheap covers. I'd go with a plain plastic with no ribs in it. I'm so glad you did this follow up video, I always look at them online and think maybe we can get away with it, not here in the Scottish Borders! Btw, I have huge strawberry patches, I never cover at all in winter, I also don't trim their leaves in autumn, I just tidy up in spring by removing dead leaves. The dead leaves I just crumble and put in around the plants, seems ok for the past few years.

I was comparing it with my other cover yesterday and it feels like carrier bag plastic whereas the other feels like tarpaulin, which is probably why it lasted so long! I’ve got the cover back on and zip tied it to the frame, hopefully I’ll be able to use some wood to reinforce it a bit.

Here in the Central Valley California we use poly tunnels all over the place. You need to frame out the ends on this with wood and the plastic won’t last forever. I have also seen people add pvc pipe robes in between the steel ones so you won’t get a belly when you have heavy rains. They also run 2x4 around the base so it won’t blow away and the plastic stays tight.

I just watched the build video and so I have not yet purchased and will think twice. If I do I will definitely reinforce the base by setting it on a timber frame securing the piping with heavy-duty zip ties and screwing the timber into the ground. However I don’t want one as large as yours and feel I can make it less vulnerable. In fact I made such a base for a 6ft by 6ft greenhouse and getting the base back up proved to be very hard work. I have the materials so that’s not an extra cost. The holes in the cover put me off mostly. Did they appear before the collapse?

better just doing a cattle fence tunnel

You always need two doors.. So the wind can pass through.. And north to south facing.. 3x2 wood ...for door frames.. When i worked for a farmer..he loss to 100 foot polytunnels to wind because of only one door...

Had 2 outsunnys for about 6 yrs now 2nd Yr in I took 1 door off each and joined together the cover is still in decent condition but will likely replace this yr. Bought another one 2 yrs ago and the cover is piss poor compared to the originals as is the door, also bein recovered this yr

That’s interesting, they must have changed their materials to something cheaper. I wish I could have joined it to my other one, but I planted a tree in the way when I first got the plot! I might move it though if I do get another tunnel.

Yes mine is the same, a fraction smaller and it’s the white one. I did reinforce mine with tree stakes and plastic ties. I trenched it too. Filmed on my channel. Could do with a new cover as it does leak a bit now. I bought some new plastic to redo it but I think I may just see how much longer it lasts and then turn it into a covered net cage for brassicas or fruit. 🤷🏻‍♀️😁

That sounds like a plan. I think I’ll have a go at reinforcing it and try the cover again before making it into a cage. I think I’ll break out the cement!

lol not unexpected, . they used to say fools and their money but now theres no money so things get even worse haha. for200 quid could prob build a timber frame and staple the coverings on and it would last ten years

not surprised with what happened to it the weather in UK is just not at all suitable for any polytunnel

My other one is fine, but the wind was particularly bad over the last couple of months!

3x3m are just a liitle too big it makes them weak the 3x2m better ones have more strength, my 3x2m flew away in the storms but structurally it still sound and undamaged.

They definitely need cross braces for support once they get to that size, there’s just too much surface area catching the wind.

Useful product review. One season of use is not good value or environmentally friendly

That’s not good for the Polytunnel. I was looking at outsunny, so I think I’ll look again at others.

I’d hoped it would last a bit longer, it’s expensive for what it is considering how thin the metal is.

Be a Karen and demand a replacement tell them that “it was not of merchantable quality, nor fit for the purpose for which it was sold” demand your consumer rights! I would have bawled my eyes out, I have to say you are taking it very well😊
