I used a few Pawfly aquarium pumps to grow avocado seeds in tall glass bottles 2 years ago, they grew well for individual hydroponics. I should have left the sproutlings in the bottles, the moment I planted them outdoors directly in to soil mediums. The avocado trees wilted over a few days later. I think I still have videos of them somewhere in my phone.

I clicked on this video for a list and found out so much more. Even why some of my past mistakes happened Ed. Ty. Usually these videos lose my attention because there's too much info that is to direct or maybe it's the speaker. Lol. Anyway I really enjoyed the video. Lots of helpful information too.

lol not unexpected, . they used to say fools and their money but now theres no money so things get even worse haha. for200 quid could prob build a timber frame and staple the coverings on and it would last ten years

Well done to you. Looking for a polytunnel myself just been lucky and have got half a plot on allotment. Probably looking at getting a 15ft x6.6 or something. Now I know watching your video that its not too bad. Can a ratchet set be used to bolt together.

My biggest problem is squirrels and birds so just learnt that for fall planting bulbs you dig your spot then place in your bulb cover with half dirt full then sprinkle chilli flakes over then add your remaining dirt on top pat and a splash of water and wait for spring it deters rodents and other pests from digging them it works I was shocked when I learnt this tip. Now if I could get thous horrible green catapilliar worms off my roses I’d have a seriously smashing secret garden.

I leave my empty loo roll tubes full-length, more room for the roots. I also soak the seeds the night before sewing to soften the husk. Pop the tubes into a seed tray. Great results.

I am looking to grow alpine strawberries in a hydroponics system. The thing is I have seen people do it and they get root rot at times. Is root rot a simple fix or does it need extra to avoid it?

Here in the Central Valley California we use poly tunnels all over the place. You need to frame out the ends on this with wood and the plastic won’t last forever. I have also seen people add pvc pipe robes in between the steel ones so you won’t get a belly when you have heavy rains. They also run 2x4 around the base so it won’t blow away and the plastic stays tight.

Had mine for nearly a year , used slabs to hold the tails down on the sides and some long spikes on the lower rails to anchor as well . Has held up really well during the winter storms , no rips. Used it this growing season for french beans , peppers , bok choi and loads of salad veg and it's performed really well. For the price ( i bought the 12 x 6 ) i would say it's worth the money.

I wish mine had lasted longer! I bought some metal stakes for it and then it was obliterated by the wind! The pieces came in handy though so it’s not a complete loss.

I haven’t tried those ones, the quality has dropped considerably since going peat free. I think the majority could do with an extra year of rotting before using them. The ones I used last year went in a tub and it’s proper black compost this year.

I found one of these somewhere. I just refound it in my clutter. I am thinking of destroying a free caravan and building it onto the chassis so I can tow it around. I have no idea how it will stand up to being towed. I have seen caravans being offered for free. It's just an idea at the moment. I am too busy just now.
@GrowIt
@GrowIt 4 ай бұрын
It would definitely be cool to see that’s for sure! Maybe with enough reinforcement it would survive a slow tow but anything beyond that and it’ll look like mine did! Lasted all of 6 months.

Quite warm 🤦‍♀️ it’s 31c right now ow at noon. My tomatoes have some leaf curl but also are stunted compared to last year. I think it could be due to the heat though. Great update Barry 👍, have a super week, Ali 🥵🌞🫠🇨🇦

@@GrowIt I grew them for the first time last year and have some again this year as they are nice firm tomatoes, best for cooking with. The skins peel off pretty easily if you roast them. They are commonly used for canning and paste.

I just watched the build video and so I have not yet purchased and will think twice. If I do I will definitely reinforce the base by setting it on a timber frame securing the piping with heavy-duty zip ties and screwing the timber into the ground. However I don’t want one as large as yours and feel I can make it less vulnerable. In fact I made such a base for a 6ft by 6ft greenhouse and getting the base back up proved to be very hard work. I have the materials so that’s not an extra cost. The holes in the cover put me off mostly. Did they appear before the collapse?
