This video was a very popular REQUEST from YOU GUYS! When the natural hair movement first took off, we started learning that ingredients such as mineral oil and petroleum may not be the best for maintaining moisture in our hair for long periods of time, that coupled with the fact that I'm low porosity, I've pretty much stayed away from grease all together since high school. I decided to try it again for you guys but with specific intention.

Grease as a sealant is bomb, especially using a thin layer. I prefer it to heavier oils because it stays put and the shine doesn't fade. I focus it on my ends so I don't have to worry about build up on my scalp. A little eco styler and it holds for days.

Sooooo....Blue Magic/grease is my 'oil' just before I apply gel to my wash and gos or to seal in the moisture in any other style. Once you learn balance on just how much to use, it is amazing! My hair is definitely fluffier when I use it and my wash and gos are softer on the first day and moisturized longer. But yes I definitely had to go back to old faithful bc the natural oils were not doing the job for me. Your hair looks amazing, cousin!

Grease is wonderful for low porosity hair. Oil just sits on top and leaves hair dry and oil for lo po hair. Grease softens, smooths and condions the hair. During the week you just reapply a moisturiser and reseal with grease.

I think using grease is a great sealant. I use Blue Magic Originals, the one that has shea butter, jojoba oils, and Japanese green tea leaves in it. I mix a small amount with black castor oil and then melt it like an oil. Just use a small amount to cover the hair only and not the scalp. This will seal moisture in your hair.

I agree! I'm not against grease at all. The natural hair community needs to understand that any product is capable of clogging up your pores rather it's natural or not. This is where shampoo comes in at. If you wash your hair daily, you will not have to worry about your pores being clogged.

I agree with you: I will be using hair grease on my low porosity hair as a SEALANT. I just started using grease again and will not stop! The oils only ran down my face and left my hair dry by the end of the day! I have the Blue Magic right now, but will purchase the Bronner Brothers product used in this video next. If it is not wash day, I refresh my hair by spritzing with water, adding a leave-in conditioner and sealing with hair grease. I don’t ever remember hair grease making anyone’s hair break off, but those relaxers did! 😂

Oh my goodness, I was beginning to think that I was the only one that used this hair grease when I was a kid lol. We used to call it "B&B" 😂 well, I'm a natural who decided to go back to using hair grease as well, but I jumped on the bandwagon and I'm currently using Blue Magic lol. But your hair is so beautiful! 😍

Girl I love Bronners brothers I use the pink hair lotion by BB it’s awesome! I think I just figured out the science behind why people were saying grease clogs the hair follicles and causing build up, it’s because they were being to heavy handed with grease and NOT using a clarifying shampoo to remove the product. When using old school products people gotta be all in for the old school you can’t use sulfate free shampoos but using motions oil moisturizer and grease daily. Sulfates are not bad they are cleansing agents and then you go in with your moisture restore shampoo and deep conditioner. I’ve been doing it and my hair and my hair and scalp is thriving! I use the African pride MIracle oil moisturizer daily and blue magic bergamot.

Y’all use this grease not only because it works wonders but because it’s Black Owned keep in mind it now comes in a clear jar and is still green.

My natural hair gets as dry as the desert that I live in if I don’t use it. I think the term “hair grease” kinda puts some people off from using them. They think it’s gonna leave your hair greasy, but your hair will really just absorb it all and soften up (if you use the right amount). So instead of calling it hair grease we should all start calling it an “oil based conditioner” or just plain old conditioner, because that’s what it is/does.

Blue magic gave me the same hold if not a better hold than a gel. So I think you using the conditioner was what made it not hold as well. Blue magic says that’s its a conditioner on its own and they were not lying. I tested it out on my long, low porosity hair and I was able to just use aloe Vera juice/water and just the grease and my hair stayed defined and moisturized for 5 days no problem. After that I started to noticed that my scalp was itching and my hair still felt conditioned, but dry at the same time, my ends also started to feel really weird at day 7. So yeah, I would recommend washing your hair 2 a week if you are only using grease, or making it thinner with an oil.

Cuzzznnnnn! I'm sw😍😍ning over this twistout! I'm a grease girl. My 4c hair (thick strands, medium density) responds well to it and I can get away with retwisting every other night. I use it as a sealant the way you did. Gotta shampoo it out though.
