I have been using grease for two months. It has grown my hair a lot. Couldn't find sulphur 8 in South Africa so I opted for Chapter 2000, mixed it with Blue magic, castor oil, virgin hair fertilizer and A Nigerian balm called Aboniki. Grease is a bomb !

I started to watch natural hair vids in 2013, and was told grease was bad, so I after a LIFETIME of using grease with no problems, I stopped using it for two weeks. The only two weeks in my life that I didn't use grease on my scalp. It was horrible and I have a little bald spot as a result. I quickly went back to greasing my scalp but not on my hair. I used shea butter on my hair. That didn't go well either. I finally just chucked all the advice and started using grease again along with a few other products. I am now down to VERY few products. I recently mixed together a 99 cent leave in conditioner and grease. OMG!!! That's all I need during the week or grease and water. Weekly I prepoo with a 99 cent deep conditioner mixed with vegetable shortening (Crisco), then I shampoo with sulfur 8 shampoo, then I put several layers of the leave in conditioner/grease mixture on my hair, plait it up (I wear semi-minibraids with lose ends), take it out the plaits the next day and wear a bun. My hair is SO soft and moisturized, long and healthy. And I feel great knowing I can sustain/afford these products and regimen. But what you said about using grease with water is key. I think that's what was missing in the hair care routines in the 1970s. We used alot of grease, but did not use water accept to wash our hair. Great vid. Thank you!

Oh my goodness! I read your comments all day. I love this kind of sharing and you are right about everything. Find a regimen that works for you and stay consistent on what works for you. Make your regimen simple and affordable. Wear your hair loosely and a protective style that will be helpful for hair retention and growth. Oh my! I have learnt a lot already from your comment girl. Thank you thank you for sharing.

I was so frustrated with my natural hair so I heard a tip about using a conditioner leave in spritz so I made a concoction of aloe Vera juice, water, glycerin, olive oil and aussie conditioner and I bought a tub of leave in super sure grow. Can't wait to see the results. So far I'm loving it but I'll see the full extent of the impact (good, bad or same dry hair) when I take down my mini twists

I greased my hair on dry hair without applying water to moisture, but its going to be a mission now to rewash my hair to get the grease out and start again, to ensure hair is wet first. Im thinking i will rather wait two days then moisturize the correct way, water first then grease

hi Chelle, I re-moisturize with a spray bottle of water with a little leave in, rub/comb that in and then add grease and it works very well for me! my shedding has decreased dramatically with this method and keeping my scalp clean and greased.

Okay so this is what I will say from my own experience. Grease is NOT a moisturizer therefore it comes last always. Whether you are using water or leave in conditioner or aloe Vera gel whatever moisturizer or cream- Grease is only a sealant.
