As a lifetime Ryu main this makes me so happy to see. Punk you are extremely skilled as he is able to basically master Ryu combos so quickly. Ryu is the most frustrating character to play since SFV as sometimes it feels as if certain throw techs or level 3 reactions don't work it is hard to explain and as a Ryu main guile and deejay are annoying match ups they have better normals and can fireball with you. But the point of playing Ryu is to be all about self-improvement and always chasing the next challenge.

When the beta was out I played a lot of Ryu. When the game came out it was all Ken for me and I felt Ryu sucked until I went back to him just recently. One thing about Ryu… he might not have as many moves or is able to pressure as much as some of the other fighters. He leaves himself open, combos not that flashy….. BUT his damage output in just a few hits is crazy!!!

Saw someone else suggest denjin charge have a light, medium and heavy version where only the corresponding specials are affected. So if you use light denjin charge only light hadouken is affected. Idk if all versions of hashogeki actually get used or not so maybe it'd be better to keep all of them affected for combo capabilities. You'd most likely only do medium charge and use light and medium fireballs, then when you get a combo you can use whatever hashogeki is best and they all get you big damage. Maybe this would just be too strong since Ryu would essentially always have access to the denjin combos, but atm he could do with some buffs and this could be a cool one.

It's still too early to have a definitive tier list as some people claim Lily is the worst character but in reality no one cares about her so she doesn't get usage and therefore could have potential; some think she's pretty good. Ryu is about mid. He's viable and isn't unusable like in 5. People would just rather pick Ken and not bother with him. This is is coming from a high level Ryu player. He's not bad just not the absolute best pick.

Lily is pretty universally seen as terrible. And Japanese players created a almost 2 and a half hour video putting people into tiers and having a heavy detailed analysis as to why. It was very fact based taking into account everything from buttons to frames. Lily is bad because of what she has that’s safe and what she has that just isn’t she has too many options that leave her extremely vulnerable especially since a lot of what makes her useful can be negated by DI or punished after block unless she OD’s but you should if have to OD every thing for it to be useful.

I honestly think ryu is low key very good in this game, but has some not so great matchups. His biggest problem/weakness imho is his lack of corner carry. Having said that I think punk would do REALLY WELL maining deejay and subbing Kimberley. Punk could make dJ’s buttons work well at neautral, plus he’s got a good fireball for anti zoning… and with Kimberley he can just go ham on characters that do well against fireballs.

@@DeathDasein It depends there are two type of guile players rush down and ones who sit back and boom you to death it makes sense if you have practice with the timing of the tatsu just like a well placed jump-in, it definitely changes the whole scheme of things if you can get hesitations in the booms. I consider myself a pretty good player I am one star away from master rank.
