Your voice mixed with the colors you choose between chapters mixed with your photos is such a great aesthetic mix. Well done sir. I continue to get interested in this camera seeing your videos. I also admire your channel for being authentic and genuinely interested in photo/video without it being a front for other things or selling/reviewing products bowing to the algorithm.

The biggest advantage of GR3 is that people will focus more on the object of photography, composition, and color, instead of missing beautiful moments while fiddling with aperture, ISO, and shutter.

28mm version is the best for street photography. 40mm is way too tight for me, especially considering the fact that you have no viewfinder. For candid snapshots on the go, 28mm is much easier to deal with. Finally, the wide field of view of 28mm is more challenging and will make yours photos more dynamic and original. Plus, you still have the possibility of digitally cropping to get a 35mm equivalent.

The GR family is one of the fastest camera to use with one hand. I can go from off-in-pocket to snap back to pocket and off in almost one fluid motion. I was totally surprised how fluid and intuitive-and joy-to use. I still love my RX1, but wow the GRIII was an unexpected treat and definite keeper! Well articulated video essay, as usual!

That combo can also be used together with the Ricoh Image Synch App as a stealthy combo for street. I’m doing a coffee shop project where I grab a coffee, sit with a view of the pastry case and place my GR3x on the table focused toward my ‘subjects’. Then connect the GR to my iPhone and the App. Now I control the camera via the iPhone/App. To the people around me I’m just looking at my phone. It’s amazing to watch people’s body language as they choose a pastry.. and mostly I ask permission from the shop owner to be safe.

I’ve had my GRiii for 2 years and have really come to love it’s features and output. I have a range of other cameras both analogue and digital - but the GRiii and Lightroom on my phone make it the choice for travel photos. The images are good enough to have been included in exhibitions and books - and for those street compositions that need a bit of length I have a user setting based on a 50mm crop. Great videos and your images are fabulous. I’m a fan.

At 10:17, it's very interesting to hear it coming from you because I was very indecisive between the GR III and GR IIIx, and one reason why I went with the original was the photos you have taken with it. They are beautiful and have always inspired me to take photos with a 28mm focal length. As someone who has watched most of your videos in the last year, I also humbly believe that the photos you have taken with this 28mm camera were among your very best.

Fantastic video and wonderful images to show the true power of the GR3. I’ve owned a GR3 for around a year now and only now I’m starting to see how special it is. I was originally shooting on a x100t and sadly I dropped it one day and broke it. I wanted the x100f but I couldn’t justify paying a rediculous price for a second hand one. I eventually found the GR3 and decided that it was my next step in my photography journey. It was different from what I was used to and at first I didn’t like it. But after a few months of relying on it, I began to just fall in love with it in ways I never could with the x100f. I highly reccomend this camera to anyone that is trying to just on the x100 series hype. You will not be disappointed by the Ricoh GR3 or the GR3x

Spending $1000 on the GR is a certain mindset that I think you can only respect if you have already spent $1000 on a GR. 😂 I swear there is a composition style to the GR images that is very different to images from other cameras, and makes them feel unique. Maybe it's the agility of it all once it becomes an extension of your awareness. I think it permits a little more impulsivity, and with that; authentic perspective. I have the XF16f2.8 to try and imitate the same thing but a little wider, and it doesn't. It still feels like I'm operating or interfacing with something, rather than doing anything intuitively. It's why I think I would rather become an expert with the GR than any other camera. It really feels like it becomes invisible to not only subjects but the photographer too.

The RAW files from this camera are fantastic. You are right that they are somehow easier to process than other RAW files, and I also don't know why. Perhaps because they are native DNGs and Lightroom "knows" them better?

What I don’t understand is why it’s not possible to make a full frame one today, the lens on the original 35mm film one looks like the same size if not smaller. Full frame lenses in general today look way larger than they used to be in the film days. (I’m not certain though because I haven’t lived the film days)

I enjoyed looking at your photos ❤ thank you for the review. I’m a new owner of this camera and I’m pretty sure that there is a lot of fun using recipes for jpg, do you think they worth using them? I don’t like post processing 😂 well, I can do it because I’ve been taking photos for more than ten years with my canon 5mk4 but this one I bought to have daily and street photos without much effort.

Yes it is, and the snap focus is only one of the function but there are other focus mode easier to use for beginners

Also a Ricoh GR user here in Japan. Sad though cuz my screws were loose and now are gone. Have you had any problems with the screws on the chassis?

Superbes couleurs, la composition aussi. Je me tâte à peut-être l'acheter. Je cherchais un fuji (X100V, XE4) mais vu le stock nul je regarde vers Ricoh maintenant.

Hi Adrien, I’m looking to get into photography.primarily will be for family life. Would you consider the griii to be a good starting point. My other considerations are a little bigger Fuji XT30 or Sony a6400. Any feedback would be appreciated

A griii can be a good starting point with the fixed lens so you don't have to think twice about what lens to choose. You just grab the camera and focus on your family moments, emotions and try capturing them. But then if you want more flexibility the Fuji or Sony you are looking for are very good starting points too!

More importantly, how about the dust issues and stuck shutter issue that plagued the previous GR? Any experience here from anyone? I had two Ricoh GR who eventually died due to the stuck shutter issue.

The price argument, while valid, is irrelevant I think because there is no alternative. There is no other camera that can do what GR can. There is no competition. Sure, you have lots of cameras that are technically superior in one area or another, but nothing comes close in terms of portability. Many times I had my second, 'better' camera sitting at home, while GR was always in my pocket. It's obvious which camera gets used more. I shoot only extremely hard B&W but having raw, I can create whatever look I want in post. I encourage you to explore focus options, having used the camera for almost two years, only recently I discovered new ways of using touch to set and lock focus. This is truly an amazing camera. I wish I had IIIx as well... (And yes, video mode is useless and should be removed) (In terms of value: GR III is valued more used now, than what it cost when it was announced new. maybe because of low supply/high demand/external economy factors)

Fujifilm XF10 - same 28mm f/2.8, it has snap focus too. The image quality may be a little inferior (corners), but the camera does its job perfectly. And it's metallic and looks pretty to me.
