Hey man. If I'm being honest, I only started painting about 20 months ago and since I've found you on here about 12 months ago my skill set has improved so much. I use similar paper to you as practice so I'm not using up all my cotton paper on meaningless scribbles and I use the same paints and papers to you as well and those have improved mostly confidence in my supplies surviving through to the end of a piece. @@justjames4974 Goodluck on your artist journey. I have to share with you advice I got from a watercolour artist/instructor. Do not consider it a waste but rather an investment when using your good paper to test your paints, brushes and techniques. This will be the paper you will be using so you want to get to know it fully... how it behaves with your brushes and paints. So go ahead and doodle on your good paper. You will be a better artist for it! 🤓

I've used them for a while. Switching colour can be a bit tricky…for instance going from blue to yellow. You need to get the colour right out of the brush, which can use up a lot of the water reservoir. Also, dry brushing is a bit tricky too. But they suit your painting style, which is very tonal rather than using a wide variation of colour. I use mine with water soluble graphite.

Love the way you do people! I use cheap watercolour barrel brushes, but I think I’ll invest in some Derwents. And there are now brushes with a button on the end to advance the water, I wouldn’t mind trying them.

...should have come to me !..been using these for years now🙂. You can also use them as a regular brush if you have a cup of water handy. I now find the indispensable for small travel paintings.

Thank you!! I have mayan orange, new gamboge, cool gray, neutral tint, buff titanium, perylene red, cobalt teal, green gray, undersea green and so on. Depends on what am painting. In general i love to paint with grays

A great artist like you can achieve extraordinary results with any kind of material, but an amateur like me, only gets mediocre results, even when using high quality materials. So I use water brushes because they are very convenient for me, and my works would not be better if I used good traditional brushes!😅

IMO they r great.. but when it comes to watercolor painting a full scene they aren’t that great.. the water control is not so good.. plus the bristles are cheap plastic.
