DISCLAIMER: I didn't mention this in the video, but acetone is a flammable substance, and the vapors that it gives off could be harmful if you breathe it in for too long. If you do end up vapor polishing a cube, I'd suggest doing it outdoors or in a well ventilated area with a mask on, away from any open flames. As long as you're careful and use common sense, acetone is pretty safe to work with; just make sure to wash it off of skin thoroughly after use, as prolonged contact can cause irritation.

This worked out very nice for me and the cube still turns well. The coating is extremely similar to pvc coating or uv coating. I would be extra careful when handling the cube while it is still soft. Also do this in a well ventilated room breathe too much acetone and you will pass out. Do this with a new cube because the vapor polishing shows all the imperfections

I'm so afraid of handling acetone, could a spark be enough to ignite it?
@ethanyay398 ай бұрын
I know that acetone is flammable, but I also know that it's commonly used as nail polish remover (which is what I actually used), so as long as you're careful, you should be fine. I probably should've put a disclaimer in the video, but I'd recommend either vapor polishing outside or in a well ventilated area with a face mask on.
@ethanyay398 ай бұрын
A spark shouldn't be enough to ignite it (like from static electricity), but you shouldn't go using acetone anywhere near an open flame.

whats your compression settings bro? nice vid
@ethanyay398 ай бұрын
Compression setting is zero, with moderate tensions.

What if you vapour polished a cube *after* the matte plastic has become glossy? Would it be even better? 🤔
@Anthony_Jiang8 ай бұрын
No, all that happens is that it strips away the top layer it’d be the samw

I haven't tried this yet but I'd assume it would be as @anthony_jiang said.

Can i use nail polish remover that contains aceton?
@ethanyay398 ай бұрын
Yes, in fact that's actually what I used here.

Which do you think is better? UV coating or vapor polishing?
@ethanyay398 ай бұрын
UV coating feels smoother, and I think I prefer it a little more to vapor polishing, but I like the vapor polished modded standard rs3m v5 better than the stock ballcore because the standard has stronger magnets.

What about for big cubes?
@ethanyay398 ай бұрын
@@ishaanbansal1089 for big cubes I prefer normal glossy plastic over both uv and vapor polish

Is there a reason that you use 3 different lubricants? Do the 3 basically combine to be the average viscosity between the individual lubes or is there another reason for it?
@ethanyay396 ай бұрын
Each lubricant contributes in their own unique way; in this case, gravitas provides a smooth base lube for control, silk slows the cube down and enhances piece-to-piece contact, and xmt-10 creates a very nice soft feeling as well as boosting speed.

can you vapour polish uv cubes? and what happens if you do?
@ethanyay398 ай бұрын
I would not recommend vapor polishing a uv coated cube, as it would most likely destroy the finish and leave a bad texture.
@genrexiii72398 ай бұрын
Will the cube polish wear off eventually??
@ethanyay398 ай бұрын
Nope! When the acetone vapor polishes the cube, the plastic itself melts and hardens, so the polish is permanent.
@randomqrcod.e8 ай бұрын
How long should I let the cube rest?
@ethanyay398 ай бұрын
I'd say about 10ish minutes, though you can do a little longer to be on the safe side.
@andrejorge58578 ай бұрын
Why didn't you vapor polished the ball core one right away? Could it ruin something?
@ethanyay398 ай бұрын
The ballcore rs3m v5 has UV coating , so it would be redundant and also very damaging to vapor polish it.
