As a foreigner who studied in South Africa and lived for over 10 years Legally..no crime record ..with extremely great South African friends as brothers...I can say that I agree that all South Africans deserve the jobs and no South African deserves to be unemployed or have priority over a foreigner on their land...also there is corruption of many officials for many illegal foreigners that manage to get papers without being skeemed properly ....BUT jobs in South Africa for foreigners is not easy to get legally .....papers take years and get rejected...applications are received and rejected or stored ....there are skilled people who just want to contribute economically as a return to the country while studying there and then one day return home but jobs are not as easy ....is he referring to the Tukshops? I am Mozambican, and I am proud to see a fellow Mozambican speak the truth about the reality in South Africa. Just to reinforce what he said about the honesty of South Africans, I was in Ermelo, and night fell in a place where I couldn't see any houses around. I walked with fear until I saw a house about 2 kilometers ahead. I went there, asked if I could stay the night, and they received me as if I were family. They gave me food and even a room to sleep in. Believe it or not, when morning came, they woke me up and even gave me water to bathe. I was very happy with the treatment I received and thanked them greatly for their kindness before leaving. It was such generosity that deserves the utmost appreciation. As for xenophobia, it is indeed a concerning issue because South Africans remain unemployed while most foreigners are employed. It is something that the South African government needs to think about to solve this problem and prevent xenophobia. As a Mozambican, I do not support xenophobia or conflict between people of the same continent, because, at the end of the day, we are all brothers. However, South Africans need to develop public policies that meet the needs of South Africans so that they do not believe that their hardships are caused by their Mozambican, Nigerian, Zimbabwean brothers, etc. There is so much more I could write, but I don't want to create reading fatigue. However, I also became interested in the English language, and I ended up speaking and writing it as well, though I don't feel as comfortable and at ease compared to my native language-Portuguese. I speak and write in English, and I enjoy having friends who communicate in this language because I get the chance to practice and learn a bit more.

About 60years ago when I started on the mines just about all the labour were Shangaan (Mozambique) and Malawians. A friendly bunch of intelligent people and hard working. Also from Lesotho they worked on the mines. It was very rare to find a zulu. I got the impression that locals (all races) avoid underground work mainly due to the danger of it.

I have heard so many foreigners pretending to tell truth about the nature of their presence in this country but this... this one! If that Zimbabwean guy in prison trended for his utterances, this one deserves a medal for his honesty and our government should be worried. ANC broke this country into bits in the past 30 years. This is painful. I have lived with Mozambicans since early 1990s and I know how much they appreciate South Africa. They are very quick to defend a South African when attacked by another foreign national. You will be hard pressed to get a Mozambican who speak bad about South Africa because to them it's a life saving opportunity to be here. There are those that participate inn criminal activities but largely they are peace loving people.

The part that breaks my heart the most about this is that small bussiness (tuck shops, saloons etc) were family run. Founders grooming children and grand children for future take over. Now theres a generational skills tranfer vacuum all thanks to people we trusted and put in power. All former home affairs ministers (minister Motsoaledi excluded) should be named and shamed
