First of all, thank you so much for doing this double shot, two songs where each don't get enough traction n the reactor world. I'm guessing because it's Lovebites, most want to see them live or in a music video. I'm glad you "took the chance" doing these in the same breath. I consider these two songs. compositional masterpieces. They are both complex arrangements, both with a huge stage feeling, and played with great speed. Add to that on this EP Winds of Transylvania (controlled chaos), three songs that are just so full of life. Miyako's keyboards on Dystopia Symphony are awesome, and the song is so reminiscent of Trans Siberian Orchestra, just faster and better. Paranoia has a slightly darker feel to it. Both to me are awesome displays of pure talent, not like their other songs don't display the same.

Miyako wrote "Dystopia Symphony" as a tribute to Beethoven. She even wrote it in the form of one of Beethoven's sonatas - with an opening, 3 movements, and a coda (ending). In the first and third movements she used elements from the third movement of Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata" (almost note for note). In the third movement of "Moonlight Sonata," Beethoven was expressing his rage about losing his hearing. She could have used elements from the first movement (which everyone knows and loves), but instead used the third movement (much lesser known than the first movement) because she wanted the rage, not the melancholy that was expressed in the first movement. Beethoven often used very dissonant second movements, and the guitar solos (Miyako's second movement) were some of most dissonant music that I've ever heard Lovebites play. And that coda (ending) would fit with any piece of classical music. "Dystopia Symphony" could only be written by someone with a thorough understanding of Beethoven's music, and someone with an exceptional grasp of music theory. Miyako obviously has both. I hope that someday I can see this performed live.

You seem to be experiencing the same journey I had two years ago almost exactly. I came across Lovebites, they became my favourite band in literally 30 seconds, and in that 30 seconds I distinctly remember thinking “what musicians, what a vocalist, what an absolutely melodic sound. I want everything this band has ever produced and I must see them live…I don’t care where”. I’m not making this up, that’s literally what happened. Being in my 60’s I knew the type of music I liked and this was it, being performed as well as I’d ever heard it played back in the day. The whole back catalogue was amassed, at great expense because I had to get it all from Japan. It was then I discovered that they had never once fallen below the standard of the first song I heard. This EP came out not long after. I pre-ordered it (from Japan) and like you just did, sat with my cans on and listened in awe. I am not wealthy. In fact by many standards I’d class myself as low income. But when Lovebites announced the two dates in Tokyo next March, it was only a matter of “will I be able to get a ticket?l. Well, I’m in the Japanese fan club (naturally) and entered the lottery for tickets, with front row standing as first preference. That was no mean feat. Although web browsers translate the fan club pages to English pretty well, these particular pages didn’t translate. That, I suspect, was a deliberate act. The fan club is, after all, primarily dedicated to their Japanese fans. There is no worldwide equivalent yet. They don’t exclude anyone, but they expressly cater for people within Japan. I have zero problem with that. Anyway, it took a whole afternoon navigating pages using cut and paste translations, but I managed to successfully apply. And yesterday I had my answer. I have a ticket for the first performance of Lovebites 2.0 with Fami on bass, in their home city. I live in the U.K. it’s going to cost more money than common sense tells me someone in my position should spend. But I don’t care. The flights are already booked. And with the new album coming out next February, I have a feeling that Paranoia and Dystopia Symphony stand a good chance of being on the set list…or at least one of them. And I’ve felt for quite some time that now Miho has left, I think there will be a shift in gear in terms of composition and speed. They laid down the album very quickly, with Fami, so I reckon I’ll here more than one track from it. There you go. My Lovebites fantasy is being realised and I honestly cannot wait. Great reaction btw!

4 thoughts for Lovebites 1. If they ever do these 2 songs live they need a orchestra backing them up instead of a backing pre-recorded track to present them properly. 2. All videos and live performances should have lyrics scrolled with Asami's great vocals 3. Unique idea? Along with any video showing the group, separate videos available for each member during the entire performance. Each member deserves it. IMO 4. When they do their American/world tour do them as well produced as their live ones in Japan even if it means fewer performances. Quality over quantity! What do you think?

Thanks for both of these! There is always something new I hear in their music with each listening. This time with Dystopia Symphony, I realized we're hearing a rarity -- namely, Miyako singing solo (!), albeit short bits as an echo to Asami in the setup to the chorus. I'm amazed at how closely identical their voices are. Before Dystopia Symphony, I've only heard Miyako harmonizing (beautifully, I might add) with Asami. It's a treat to hear her alone, and I hope we get to hear more of her in the future.

I enjoy all LOVEBITES songs without ranking them. But there are exceptions. Only DYSTOPIA SYMPHONY feels like it's on a higher level. I believe that this song is a masterpiece of condensing all of Miyako's talents (composer, guitarist, pianist). In response, the drums, bass, guitar, keyboards, and vocals do a great job pushing the limits of their abilities. This song currently has only the version recorded in this studio. (Since it was released in March last year, I have been unable to perform live performances due to the pandemic.) Therefore, I noticed that this sound source has different specifications from live performances. Many other LOVEBITES songs seem to have been mixed in such a way that the left and right sound sources are widely expanded and the sounds of Miyako and Midori are clearly defined (especially in the case of live recordings). However, in this version, all the sound sources are centered and all the sounds sound like they are rushing in from the front. This seems to work fine. If this song is performed live, I would like to enjoy comparing it with the sound at that time. This DYSTOPIA SYMPHONY is also characterized by the inclusion of classical music. Miyako's sense is expressed. For example, you will notice that the sound you hear from the keyboard immediately after the song starts is the melody of the third movement of Beethoven's piano sonata "Moonlight". In addition, the melody of Beethoven's piano sonata "Pathétique" is also included. Anyway, I was astonished when I heard DYSTOPIA SYMPHONY. It was the realization that Miyako's musical talent was far more enormous than I had ever imagined. ------------ from Nippon *It is a sentence using Google translation. I hope I conveyed my intentions correctly.

Nice to see some 'lesser reacted-to' pieces! I think this EP was their last material prior to the hiatus.. the EP was kind of an ode to mankinds ability to endure . "Music created in such darkness has managed to become full of feelings of salvation and light". Yeah, Dystopia Symphony is a masterpiece composition for me, and would make an awesome instrumental. The new album will have an instrumental version too so I'm hoping that there may be tracks of a similar vein to this. Invicta magazine said something really cool about Paranoia: full of individual character as well as top notch technique, proving that guitar heroes aren't dead, they're heroines now 💪🤘❤

Glory, glory to the World hits more into the progressive metal all 4 songs are freaking amazing with the addition of Winds of Transylvania. Paranoia collaborated by Mao and Asami and Dystopia Symphony is composed by Miyako with Asami on the lyrics. Unfortunately, there are no videos or live segments 3 songs from this EP you gotta check out No time to Hesitate. The only songs that they did on the Ride for Vengeance tour were Glory to the World and Winds of Transylvania. No time to hesitate, Paranoia, and Dystopia Symphony remind me and I hear vibes of Dream Theater.
