First - Congratulations you guys!!!! That's amazing news! Second - song: Father & Son by Cat Stevens. (less about the dad, more about looking back at his own youth and wishing the best for his young child, trying to connect with them by being a better parent than he had, and eventually letting them go on their own/not be there for everything they will come across - "i have to go away"). As for recipe, everybody loves my banana bread (and it's not dry unless you really over-bake it). I always do it as a double batch, so i'll give those numbers here (also, it's easy on the stomach if you are still a bit queasy): wet ingredients to mix: 7 bananas, browned (they are best for this when the brown Just starts to overtake the amount of yellow on the peel) 2/3 cup butter - Very soft, but not liquified 1 tbsp vanilla extract 2 eggs Mash these thoroughly until the banana and butter have small lumps and is mostly homogenous dry ingredients: 3 cups flour 1 cup sugar (you could add more if you like it super sweet, but it kills some of the banana taste and dries it out by having more dry ingredients) 1 (level) tablespoon baking soda 1/3 teaspoon salt stir lightly to spread out the sugar into the flour if you'd like to add 1/4 cup of chopped nuts or chocolate chips, that's up to you. -fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture in roughly 1/3 - 1/2 increments to ensure no large floury sections - mix by hand with masher and/or large solid spoon/spatula. preheat oven to 350f line some small loaf pans with parchment paper and fill about 1/2 way sprinkle a small amount of brown sugar on top of the batter JUST before it goes in the oven. bake 40-45 minutes (use toothpick to make sure it comes out clean). you want to remove them when the toothpick comes out clean, but the top has not started to look like it has turned to a hard crust. cool in pan on rack, wrap in aluminium foil (they freeze Very well this way) enjoy on its own, or with a bit of butter Hope you try, and enjoy this!

Cats In the Cradle by Harry Chapin. Cautionary far more than celebratory, but definitely a good one. (Anything by Harry is good). Oh BTW, a heartfelt congratulations to your whole family. I'm very happy for you and yours. Little Mycroft will be all over you with questions about the new arrival. Have you picked out a name yet?
@flipperMAN2001Ай бұрын
Harry is my favorite singer of all time. but Cats in the cradle is about - NOT being with your child and when the child grows up, NOT wanting to be with his dad. Of course the point of the song makes you think about embracing your child with love and NOT be the father in the song as you stated with the word cautionary, so there is that :) So many other Harry songs to choose - Flowers are Red would be my choice so the child grows up to be free of others selfish opinions.
@Carln0130Ай бұрын
Well, as I say, a cautionary tale. Flowers are Red, another great song, is about not letting a child's individuality get ground out of them by the system. So another cautionary tale. I was very lucky in that I got to see Harry live three times before his untimely passing. Hearing him tell the background story on that was always interesting.

Dude, why would you start her pregnancy on a downer? It's such a depressing song. I strongly disagree.
@Carln0130Ай бұрын
@@danbardos3498I think you're missing the point. Again, cautionary. Very busy lady. Take the time to smell the roses. That's my point. I'm old, so maybe that plays into it. Celebrate of course, but keep the truly important stuff in mind because it is of ultimate importance. The people who get bummed by the song are those who got trapped into that story and look back with regret. Not those who hear it as the great song it is and say "Thank God I didn't let that happen". I'm looking out for her. Not raining on her parade.

The singer, Fran Healey is amazing live and they have some great originals: sing, why does' it always rain on me, turn. When Brian Wilson first heard the song, he pulled over to listen, bought the record, and listened to it 1000 times to figure out how Phil Spector produced what came to be known as the 'wall of sound'.

Congrats!! Many, many, many years ago, during pregnancy and morning sickness, the only thing I could eat was dry toast with a light spread of vegemite. Now, on to my song request: I beg, pray, grovel for you to analyze Darren Hayes, specifically ' Insatiable'. I saw him in concert a few years ago, here in his home town. His (at the time) husband was sitting front row. When he sang 'Insatiable' it was so intimate that I honestly felt like I was intruding on a very special and very sacred moment between him and the love of his life. It was truly moving and I admit to shedding a tear or two. Another of his songs, Unlovable, I introduced to my brother-in-law just after a particularly difficult break up he went through with his ex-boyfriend. It actually touched him so much, and resonated on a level that allowed him to come out the other side of that breakup stronger and with a deeper understanding of how his childhood was manifesting in his relationships.

Massive congrats and the exciting news instantly reminded me of Stevie Wonder's 'Isn't she lovely', written about his newborn daughter and off his masterpiece of an album 'Songs in the key of life'. If I remember correctly the track even includes his baby daughter's voice so it seems very apt for review plus it's a classic!

As a suggestion for not only your upcoming hiatus, but also as a suggestion for your vocal research subjects! Johannes Eckerstrom from Avatar! Elizabeth, you NEED to hear Avatar and analyze his vocal style! They're one of the absolute best melodic metal bands going, and I think a song like "Bloody Angel" or "Torn Apart" would make you want to hear even more of them in the future! Congrats to you and your growing family! I'd also love you to explore the vocal harmonies done by the bands King's X and Galactic Cowboys - I think you'd enjoy the layers a lot!

Hello, first of all congratulations!! Second of all here are my recommendations: 1. “On Children - Sweet Honey in the Rock”. It’s a gorgeous acapella live performance based on a Khalil Gibran poem and is a guide to children all parents should know. 2. “Father & Daughter” - Paul Simon - my daughter is 27 now and I still blub at this! 3. “Soliloquy” by Gordon McRae from the Carousel film OST - a bit old school in attitude but full of humour and my god, what a performance . The twist half way through is still great. Food: you need some decent British biccies: Custard Creams, Malted Milks and McVitie’s Digestives with a good cup of Yorkshire Tea. That’ll see you through anything. Enjoy!

Congratulations. Give your man a high-five from all of us. My Niece was born last year (coming up on one year old). I made her a custom musical Teddy bear, using these MP3 players you put in stuffed animals so when you press them, they play a custom song. I loaded it up with 50 songs across several genres and decades, then had the bear dressed in a Queen concert T-shirt, with a Scorpions Bandana, etc. My Niece loves it. Appropriate songs would be very subjective. I look for those with a more positive vibe to them, or if a bit darker, still in a major chord. Failing that, tracks of significant cultural influence. Rush - "Dreamline" Scorpions - "Rock Believer" Queensryche - "Chasing Blue Sky" Pink Floyd - "Dark side of the moon" (yes the whole album, it would be blasphemous to break it up). Bowie - "Rock 'n Roll with Me" Nightwish - "Slow Love, Slow" / "Harvest" ... You get the idea. I have some darker, more thought-provoking tracks for when she's older. ________________________________________________ You asked for Recipes: Basic French toast, but add ¼tsp almond extract and ½tsp ground clove and 3 drops of rose water (available online) to the batter (4 large eggs and 2Tbsp heavy cream). Fry in butter NOT oil or cooking spray. Thick, heavy bread, cooked low and slow, it shouldn't smoke. Skip the syrup, serve with clotted cream (many recipes for that here on KZbin, will need to be prepared a day or two in advance) and Cloudberry jam (hard to find in the states, but you can get it on Amazon). This is so good it's life-changing... in the sense that you'll easily gain 200lbs because nobody can stop eating it, lol. Seriously, I'm a great cook, and have multiple professional (and esteemed) chefs in the family, and even they put this at the top of their list of favorite dishes. Allergy warning: Contains Gluten, Cream, Eggs, Tree Nuts (obviously). So it may not be suitable for everyone. ________________________________________________ Fun Fact: When I was born, my father dropped my mother off at the hospital and left because he had tickets to Bowie and the Stones. Still hasn't lived that one down, lol. But back then, men weren't in the room anyway, they sat in a waiting room, often for days, so it wasn't too big of a deal. Probably couldn't get away with that today. Dad wanted to name me "Ziggy" after Bowie's persona, "Ziggy Stardust". Mom shot that down. Truth be told, that was way cooler than the name I actually got, Dad had it right. So if your husband has any weird name ideas, hear him out... the kid will inherit some of that weirdness, so it just may work out in the long run, lol. ________________________________________________ Bonus Song - Alice Cooper - "You and Me" Not so much baby-related, but when those pregnancy emotions are running high, and you want something more wholesome and relaxing, that will do you some good.

Nows my chance to suggest something lol I would LOVE to see a video where you react to one of my favorite songs from final fantasy 14. This would be the song "To The Edge" written by Masayoshi Soken. There is a little bit of lore behind this song but it is a one that means a lot to the XIV community. Masayoshi Soken wrote this song during the pandemic alone in a hospital room while he was fighting cancer. He was there for nearly 7 months and the hospital and square-enix worked out a deal so they could bring his equipment to his room so he could work. He wrote "To the Edge" like it might be his last song and he thank the players for loving the song and he feels the love and support he got from the community is what helped him beat his cancer. He did this all without telling anyone but his director and the CEO of square. He talked about his battle with cancer at the fanfest in 2021 surprising his coworkers and the community. He wanted to wait until he was in remission to say anything and to thank his colleagues and the FF14 community for helping him beat it.

I don’t think it gets enough credit for being absolutely stunning and beautiful, not to mention very skill-based with some of it. I particularly enjoyed a number of songs off of FFXIII and FFXIII-2, which are the only FF games I’ve played. But yeah; highly atmospheric, and I often listen to them still years later outside of the context of playing the game. There are so many good recommends in this category.

"You'll Be In My Heart" by Phil Collins from Disney's Tarzan soundtrack. This is a MUST listen for parents, particularly mothers
