I’ve been off the grid recently - here’s why! :)

Have you wondered where I’ve been over the last few weeks? Months? I’ve been a bit distracted:
• Selling a house in Auckland during the cyclone
• Buying an acreage property in Queensland
•Settling in and unpacking
• Installing a 10kw Solar system
• Learning how to live on bore/well water
• Learning how not to kill a banana tree (they need lots of water and I was giving mine none until a week ago)
• Learning to spot (and avoid) Brown Snakes
• Watching out for wild pigs and Dingoes
• Learning the difference between Green Frogs (good for your garden) and • Cane Toads (nasty invasive species that kill native animals and birds)
Making 7,000 trips to Bunnings (hardware store) for the new house
• Discovering my closest recycling centre (no door to door recycling a kilometre down a one lane road)
But as you can see from the video, it’s coming along nicely. So, in the immortal words of Arnold Schwarzenegger, “I’ll be back” to posting about #futureofwork #talentacquisition and #employeeretention very soon.
Here are some topics I’m writing up for future posts. These have come from client conversations over the last few weeks.
• What does ChatGPT mean for the future of jobs?
• How will a potential economic downturn affect the labour market?
• What are the ramifications if we consider redundancies in an economic downturn? Will that damage our brand as we try to hire when the economy comes back?
