Chicago has been one of my #1 since I was 9, When my folks moved us to Florida from Chicago I had this AM radio that at some time at night I could Dial in WLS an d WCFL. Couldn't get enough Motown and Pop tunes. Funny how I remember that at 62 years old.. My dad was a machinist worked with Pete Cetera's dad also a Machinist. The founding Members Of Styx lived a block away from my house in Roseland. As young kids we would sit by the basement window at night and listen to them practice.. Never thought they would become anything as we had a lot of basement and garage bands in our neighborhood in 68 and 69. Roseland was a great town to grow up in during the 60's. Today?☢

Keep in mind this is more than "just another tribute band." The lineup features some of the best musicians to come out of Russia and the former Soviet Republics. Each one, all of them, are classically trained. This is no garage band featuring the kid down the street. This is the result of 30-years of artistical freedom and expression in a country that repressed it for decades. This is the result of that freedom. They just kill it. Every single song. Every single cover is absolutely spot on. What a band!

Bill BIrd, I am in my mid 60's and played keyboards and percussion thru high school. Marching band, jazz band etc... Chicago was my Idol and I had transcribed there music at an early age so a group of us could get together and play Chicago music. This is a dream come true. ONLY REAL musicians with REAL talent and a REAL knowledge of music could do this. I have told everyone I know about this group. I have been listening since the FIRST DAY it showed up on KZbin. I once saw Chicago play in 1975 in Springfield Illinois and it was HORRIFYING. First concert I had every been to and a terrible memory. They BUTCHERED there music. Ever since then I ONLY listened to there studio albums. You are SPOT ON. Just SPOT ON.
@kittykixbootie3 жыл бұрын
@@pedrojulio5889 I know a little bit about music. Was in marching band but just as color guard. My instrument was my voice. Sang in choir, glee club etc. Never did anything big. Probably could have with more support. I'm 55 and grew up listening to Chicago. Always loved them but never heard they sucked live. But it makes a lot of sense. Takes good band rapport to pull this off. You can see they have it with the knowing smiles at each other, sideways glances. They know they are nailing it. So glad I found this channel.
@pedrojulio58893 жыл бұрын
@@kittykixbootie I thought about what I said and HOPE no one took it as a negative comment. Phil Collins concerts are ALWAYS done to perfection and others, but this is with a LOT of money and effort JUST for this reason. I am sure Chicago has done MANY or maybe even MOST concerts with perfection, but the one I heard was nothing short of HORRIFYING and at a younger age I was completely confused. The sound was terrible, they played most songs at high speed, and the singing was SO OFF KEY. It was probably just a bad gig for them?? Or maybe the provisions of the Illinois State fair was inadequate. But to say the least I only saw one more band, Boston in 1975 but IT was SO LOUD I had to leave. SOOOOO I stuck to studio Albums. There are SO many added harmonies or background sounds that can be achieved in the studio. I note that some bands live figured out ways around this. Toto ALWAYS sounds great even with the MANY different lineups they have had thru the years. Just thought of one more band. STIX from Chicago had JUST STARTED playing and they played in 1971?? in a little theatre in Canton Illinois. They were quite talented but I think it could have been interpreted as a earthquake it was SOOOOO LOUD!!! I think I had to leave that one also.
@kittykixbootie3 жыл бұрын
@@pedrojulio5889 you aren't wrong at all. Phil Collins was the first concert I went to and it was amazing. I have always been an avid concert goer and I can tell you off the top of my head who the pros are. Hall and Oates, Elton John, Fleetwood Mac, Sarah Maclachlan, Crosby, Stills and Nash. I'm sure there are some I'm forgetting. But there are some bands that just can't get it together live. I went and listened to Chicago singing this song live after this and boy was it awful. I'm thinking that bands like this are the impetus behind KZbin removing comments from the catalog music on the platform because comments were disabled. If I'm able to, I will go back and share the video I'm talking about. The music industry would very much rather the public stay blissfully ignorant though.

Let us not all forget that old, great music is still being covered today. For instance, there are a tremendous amount of people that will pay big amounts of cold, hard cash to sit in an auditorium to hear songs that were created many hundreds of years ago, such as Bach and the like. Good music is good music, no matter the time, era, or if it's a cover or not -- period.

I don't know about that - I mean it's the same arrangement, soundscape, mix and balance throughout, and I don't know what about it is actually better (listen to them back to back - are they more in tune for example?) but the joy is in being able to continue to enjoy this music played expertly by musicians of similar calibre to the original bands.
