I've had 3 MM300s. If I get a 4th, I think I'll keep it off the bracelet and wear it on the original strap or a black Tropic. I wonder if that will help with the weight and give it more wrist time.

Bruce, two words: Crafter Blue. Have a good one.

I'm thinking I may have put this idea in your head, but I've been in this same situation. I have found the Crafter Blue rubber strap really does transform this piece (to the point that I can wear it while I sleep). Even after purchasing a Black Bay, Seamaster, other Seikos, I still come back to the Marinemaster.

I agree on the crafter blue…transforms the feel. Though I still flipped it 😄

I own the 059. Love it! It's also a good way to break in to some hand finishing on the case , and that along with having a hand assembled movement adds a bit of value for me! Hope you are still enjoying this one !

I’m considering buying this watch as the 2nd of a modest collection of watches. I know it’s not a “daily driver,” but I, too, have fallen in love with its beauty. Thanks for this frank and very revealing video. Truly appreciate it!

I have the 017, absolutely love it. The only thing, is that I switched the bracelet out for a strapcode hexad bracelet, helps with the top-heaviness and makes it far more comfy (and it looks better, too)

Have you looked at the SNR029? It’s essentially a spring drive MM300 with a titanium case. The dial and hands look identical except for a power reserve meter and capped seconds hand. The PR hand is also capped. It was what finally convinced me to bite the bullet and spend more than 2k on a watch.
@myklbllngsly Жыл бұрын
I own the SLA053 (the blue dial version) and I absolutely love it. To me it’s the prettiest MarineMaster Seiko has ever made. Plus I LOVE the black case. Plus I love the rubber strap on the black one. I have #19/500
@whodeycinbengals Жыл бұрын
I’ve always wanted a blue sla023 because I love everything about the dial and handset, but I could never pull the trigger due to the size dimensions of the case. And judging from your video, it definitely confirms the doubt the I have with the mm300’s. They are just too big for most people. I wear a blue bay 58 as my daily, and to me, it is the most comfortable diver that I’ve owned.

Dude..........I feel you man. I've owned 4 MM300's over the past 10 years. I love the watch but there was always something, I still don't know what, that caused me to end up flipping them. That was until I broke down and picked up the SNR029. This model scratched the itch perfectly, it's the ultimate MM300. Titanium, ceramic bezel, gorgeous applied markers, and the cherry on top......Spring Drive. My favorite alt strap on this model is an Erika's MN, so comfy. Loved seeing your journey with this model, enjoy the watch my friend!

Bruce, I understand it, but the reasons you specify for selling yours on, are the same reasons that keep me from buying one in the first place. Aside from a couple of novelty pieces, I do not have anything that big and likely never will. The one you have now is a stunner and if I was gonna buy one, that would be it! But, I would probably be content to have it sit in the watch box and only be worn occasionally. To continually be rebuying a watch would be disrupting to my mental health. But, maybe that's why you're Seicotic!? 🤣

I went Bruce’s route I bought marinemaster SLA021 then the higher end SLA039, then two more prospex LX watches and the issue was always the 44.5mm cases and I sold them all and now I got the 62MAS with 39.99mm and that’s what I will keep-, the issue is thickness and case size and less so the unregulated movement because we know mechanical watches never going to keep 2 seconds always.

The watch has no problem. It is perfectly made for a purpose, and that purpose is immersion and not to be worn in everyday life. This is the problem with us, watch enthusiasts. We always buy watches that have nothing to do with our lifestyle, then we complain that they are too big or too heavy, when in fact we would be perfectly satisfied with any dresswatch plus a G Shock. I understand you perfectly.

I'm on my 5th one. Started off with an SBDX017 but didn't like the mineral crystal and the bezel was easy to scratch. When the new models came out, I bought an SLA021 and then sold it for the reasons you mentioned. Regretted it, got another and then sold it. Got another 021 and traded that one off. Last summer I got the blue dial 023 and I'll just keep this one around. I don't wear it often due to the size, poor bracelet fit etc......but when I don't have one I'm always thinking about getting one. I heard a rumour these SLA021/023 have been discontinued. Any truth to that and do we know what's coming next?

That is an intriguing piece Bruce, but I do have a minor bone to pick with you!! Why do you constantly dog the first gen MM200's? They are premium, accurate, slim and comfortable and can be found at an amazing value of $650-$800. Add the MM300 clasp for under $100 and you have a premium watch that you can actually wear all week. These pieces hug the wrist and the lume is mind boggling, their old blue lume is unbeatable! My daily is the Pepsi SPB087 and I also have a SPB097 blue dawn, both are absolutely perfect in alignment including those premium bezels and run 1-2+ per day. I just don't want others to be turned off from such spectacular options. Finally the large unique hour hand becomes a much appreciated feature with aging eyes and brain. ✌️ Peace

I’ve never understood the hype with this watch. Built well. But it looks like a boy watch. There is usually something off with most Seiko dive watches. It’s really an ugly watch. There is no refinement for the money you pay. The bezel sounds like it’s falling apart when you turn it. The clasp is cheap. I’ve had the exact same clasp on a $400 quartz Seiko Velantura diver and it snapped in half at the bottom part of the folding clasp. Sounds like you’ve got a bad relationship with this watch. 😂 I would too.
