Edit to add: Pravus, they wore the armour because they were level 2 burgages. I understand the big head issue. Gigantic noggins unite! There *is* an option to make a rich resource an infinite resource. Thank you, Devs! That makes the game look much more appealing. The thing about ale is that everyone did, to a degree, drink ‘small beer’ or watered ale, for various reasons - it’s not just that the water is unsafe. But how can I put this, I used to live in a former planned medieval town and rotten borough of about 2000 people, maximum, it was also - famously - on one of the old welsh drovers road, has Britain’s oldest established brewery and was a market town, pretty much like the town Pravus is building. Guess how many public houses (taverns) it famously had it its height? Over 40. Even when I grew up, there were 12 pubs serving 1600-1800 odd people. I’m not saying the game mechanics don’t need to be rebalanced, I would think allowing additional types of fermentation would be a start - rich people drank wine, which could be grown in the UK back then, and definitely could in Europe, and anyone could make cider from apples. Well… mostly apples. People drank like fishes, back in the day, and after all that herding, those drovers needed a drink or six. The retinue cap is a great reason to found extra manors - as is 6 free troops - but I agree that the top end of the castle/manorial/combat/town game is… not there yet. And honestly, outside of actual four player multiplayer, I think that the game isn’t sufficiently complex outside of survival, which is either *really* hard or stupidly easy, depending on if you have that trade perk. Ohhh, the level 3 burgages look *perfect* for a medieval town!

One of the families in the tavern is assigned to a market stall. In addition, don't allow ale storage in the storehouse. It will go directly to the tavern instead.

If that helmet is an actual helmet, it is very possible that you would need to wear something underneath (like you'd often wear stuff under your armor/mail to soften blows). Might not be that it's not appropriate for your head, but rather that you don't have everything you need yet! And so starts the armor collecting lol
@TheCaptainbeefylog7 ай бұрын
It's called a coif. Basically a padded hood to keep the helmet from rubbing you raw. Mass-produced armor rarely fits anyone properly.

Something I'm curious about; from what I've seen of others play, three of the livestock you can get are oxen, horses, and mules. Oxen seem to be used for things like moving construction supplies or other heavy manual labor assignments at certain workshops. Horses seem to have an effect on trade (I'm not entirely sure what from my viewing, maybe the frequency traders arrive?). Mules I haven't seen anyone use or seem to know what they're for. When I think mule, I think pack mule, AKA a strong back to move supplies with. I'm wondering if getting mules into your settlement will increase the speed/efficiency at which supplies get moved around within your city over people hauling them by hand or cart, which might help with keeping things like the tavern supplies with ale; as you've noted, it's in your stores, but it's not getting to your tavern fast enough, and if getting from storage to tavern is the issue, brewing more might not be the solution.
@christopherg23477 ай бұрын
Historically and currently, mules specialty is rugged and roadless terrain. So the fields probably. Horses need plains, but would be even better on roads. Oxen would be tractors.
@TheCaptainbeefylog7 ай бұрын
Mules are used in-game to transfer goods between provinces you own. Oxen are the in-game tractor for farms and hauling logs from the forest to the logging camp, then to the sawpit, then to construction sites and also for plowing. So you can see why having multiple oxen is neccessary. Horses are used for speeding up import/export trade. Keep granaries and storehouses staffed or goods don't get distributed to the houses or markets.

Put on a coif or something under the helmet like they used to do in the day, should lift the helmet abit there Pravus :P As for the manors well, its not like your Manor itself is under attack so yeah there isn't a huge incentive to build it up like people used to do cause your Manor isn't the bulwark or target of attackers from what i can see. But putting towers on the road, now that would be nifty.

Came here to see what the fuss was about with Manor Lords, and as always, Lord Pravus delivered :) Thank you for this video.
@SirBlaze757 ай бұрын
@pravus part of your problem with deliveries near the start where you had not enough clothing and beer, was due to a good portion of your men being in an army as you rocked around the country for several months so you took workers away from their work

Historically you need to think of ale as a safe water source for your town, everyone drinks it even the children. BTW your wife is doing a great job with the editing, your videos look as good as ever.

Hopefully you can get Manor upgrades that allow you to have stables, so you can have cavalry or at least a personal horse for you to tour your realm and oppress your peasants. I mean observe them.

I think in 3rd person mode the AI entirely ignores you. You are more like a ghost. I am not 100% sure you are invulnerable/untargetable. But it is probable. The archer flank does work in games like total war. You can fire into melee formations, as long as there are enough enemies between you and your allies. Dense melee blobs make good backstops.
