My daughter's good friend lost her mom at a young age. Then a few years later she had a little girl. When her daughter was around 3 yrs old she told my daughter's friend that she used to be her mom's mama...that she called her this pet name and would touch her face a certain way. Her mom was astonished on how her little girl even knew that because she never talked about it. So yes I believe reincarnation can occur among family members.

Early on I had the sense that my youngest granddaughter was my mother reincarnated. It was just a sense. Later when my granddaughter was about four, she told my daughter that she remembered me from “before”. My daughter asked her if she meant before I moved back closer to her. That’s amazing ! I’m already a believer but love to hear more testimony from real people - it’s so cool . When I was about 10 I learned about reincarnation and I instantly knew it was the reality of this world. I grew uu catholic and from a very young age my gut knew it was all bs. When the concept of reincarnation came to me, it was like this happy little light turned on inside of me, and it was so refreshing to know that other people believed in this because it felt so right to me. I felt constantly gaslit by the church in my younger years, but not completely because I knew it was all fiction.

You have to take into consideration that there is also a thing we call "the cell memory matrix" every single cell is the memory of the whole matrix of both parents, grand parents till the beginning of the first experience on the new earth as a cell ! ,that is why in family circles the same thing keeps going around generation after generation , alcoholism ; abuse etc ... also good things !

Because I am Mormon, we believe in a Pre-earth life, and when I had a friend, who believed in reincarnation, we could connect. We do temple work for people, to open the door to higher vibrations of Heaven. Personally I don't see a conflict.

I don’t agree with karma any more than sin and punishment. Some of the most advanced amazing souls are living in hunger, poverty,disability etc. Its like a lot of things we’ve got it all backwards. Watch a child in Bangladesh collect trash for food and help their friends. These are the masters. There is no denying it when you look in their eyes. Comfort or status or ease in life means absolutely nothing with regard to the state of a soul. I was told very clearly by spirit. “What if everyone who appears to be having the hardest lives are actually in master classes because they are advanced. It’s exactly opposite of what we think. Sorry, but I don't believe that. I've heard plenty of advanced masters talk about how once you rid all of the blocks and negative energy from your life, then things just start to go your way. You have fewer accidents and are always at the right place at the right time etc...Sure maybe an advance soul chooses disability,, but it only does so because it's something that it wants to experience for growth. If you think about it logically, there is no other reason why it would want to do so...But when it comes to crimes, that's when I really disagree Think about it, the way you are saying it means, why even become an advance soul at all then? I am an African, married and living with a German woman, whe was pregnant in her 7th month, she came out of the room and told me the baby has decided for her name, I asked her what name? At 11 I kept telling my mom I needed to go to San Francisco and we lived in Wisconsin. I was also hugely claustrophobic. I was also born covered in a birth mark that shrunk to just one thigh as I grew. In India it is believed that birth marks indicate past deaths. That type of birth mark indicated being buried alive. I eventually made it to San Francisco and I know in my heart that in a past life I died in the 1906 earthquake in San Francisco. I believe I died buried in a collapsed building. I find it hard to believe that a divine soul could be a helpless victim with no say, being tortured against their will. It's only a being of total Love that COULD accept such an experience, in order to bring Love to where Love was not, to bring forgiveness where forgiveness was impossible, to bring light where there was once darkness. In the physical world, victimhood is a reality, we are physically vulnerable, needful, and weak, so some level of victimhood is inevitable in the physical, even if we are only a victim of death in the end. Enlightened societies attempt to decrease victimhood, while unenlightened ones cultivate and foster it. The question is does that victimhood extend beyond our physical existence into our spiritual selves. If all you believe in is the physical reality then the question is meaningless, but if you admit the possibility of a spiritual existence higher than and separate from the physical, without the weakness, fragility and limitations of the physical then there is also the possibility that the meanings and viewpoints regarding suffering and victimhood look quite different from that point of view, and the experience of suffering may be seen, not as inherently 'good' in any way, but perhaps temporarily necessary for a deeper spiritual purpose. Not as a goal in and of itself, but as a means to an end. If the ultimate purpose of a soul is to transform darkness into light, the darkness must be experienced first, then it's clear what exactly needs to be transformed.

I always loved the 70s and 80s. The music, the clothes, the movies, etc. I also always loved Europe especially France in particular. And I always felt I must have lived in the 70s and 80s in my most recent past life and I also feel like I must have lived in France in a past life as well. I never heard anyone talk about "memory triggers" or having an affinity for certain time periods, countries etc. which signify a past life until this until this video. Excellent interview, Mel. I have known about Joanne for many years and my wife had a past life reading with her as well as my oldest son. I used to work at Monticello (Jefferson's Historic Home) for nearly 10 years and was familiar with many things about his life. I read her book on T.J. Davis (his reincarnation) and was fascinated by it. Rob Coles, who is the 5th great grandson of Jefferson had a strong resemblance to Jefferson - same height, same hair color and would do speaking engagements about Jefferson. Early one morning at work I looked out the window and saw Jefferson walking the grounds. I was astounded. One of my co-workers told me that was Rob Coles doing a promotional photo shoot in full costume. I seem to have a connection with him and with Monticello as well.

What are your thoughts on 'speaking in tongues' potentially being linked to past lives? When I speak/sing in tongues everyone says it sounds like an African language and a few years ago I had a dream that I was sat at a table in what looked like African landscape with an African man who felt so incredibly familiar to me, I remember every detail of his face and I had such a deep love and connection for/to him. In the dream I spoke my tongue language to him and he translated it back into English for me so I could understand what I was saying. Then I asked a waiter in my language to bring a golden oil lamp to the table we were sat at (and thought it interesting with the parable of the virgins in the bible with the oil lamps)... I woke up and felt like I'd been somewhere else and I missed this man so so so much. I've not had another dream of him since but it felt so real and significant to me.

I do believe that we chose this life ourselves, but I struggle to reconcile how we have informed consent when we are deciding it from such a different space, where we are unable to feel the pain. It would be great if you could ask guests this question! Although we have incarnated before, the impact of the infinite love we have surrounding us at the time of deciding to go back to earth again, must substantially cloud our decision. I can't imagine that we really remember or know what we are in for. I say this having chosen what is honestly a RIDICULOUS amount of trauma (both related and completely unrelated) - all the kinds of abuse growing up for 20 or more years at the hands of two narcissistic parents with no siblings to turn to (one is an extremely dangerous sadistic Psychopath) - then layers and layers of other completely unrelated trauma such as car crashes, traumatic deaths of loved ones and friends, prolonged abuse and suffering of people I love etc etc etc. I have CPTSD multiple times over, Autism, genetic chronic physical health issues, and I could go on. Getting away from my abusive family was the easy part (but I can't get over the loss), I have no idea how to be out in the world alone even though it has been over 10 years since I took distance, and despite all of the numerous years of therapy I have done, I am completely stuck. I was trained to be the family therapist and scapegoat from birth, and I have overflowing empathy, but as I am Autistic and ADHD, people sometimes think I have none - what is really happening is that I am overwhelmed by it and I shut down. I attract toxic people, even neighbors! I am so worried I will have to come back here again.. I trained to be a therapist (unsurprisingly) and received SO MUCH positive feedback from clients who significantly changed their lives, but I was crashing and burning. Now I am unemployed and very sick. One of the worst parts was that I chose a wealthy family, but my father controlled all the money and wouldn't even give my mum money for nappies, yet everyone thought my life and family was great, that just compounded it all. I am starting to believe I am here purely to repay a huge debt and I really hope after this I am done. I am 37 years old and feel 250. Rant over xx

I'm sorry to hear you're going through all this. I dislike this idea of we choose our lives when it comes to abuse and trauma, and I don't think that's what anyone is choosing. We all have the free will to behave well or poorly in this life, and I think when people choose to behave poorly they negatively affect the lives of those around them who did not sign up for that abuse. I do believe there is power in forgiveness. If you can forgive your family for what they've done to you (which is not the same as inviting them back into your life - you do not need to do that), you can free yourself from the pain and trauma you feel; it will lose its hold on you. If you can forgive yourself for choosing a life that didn't turn out as you likely had planned it to be originally, you should feel better mentally and perhaps it will help with the physical issues on some level as well. The thought that you're here to repay a debt makes your life sound like a punishment, which I do not believe it is. If you can think of your life more like going to see a horror movie or riding a scary roller coaster ride, you can gain some distance and see the ways in which it's enjoyable and worth having experienced. You can, of course, choose to go on a different ride at any time or see a different type of movie by taking control over your life. It sounds like you have in many ways already by departing from your family and starting a meaningful career. Still, being in control can be very difficult to achieve. I am also autistic and sometimes feel trapped in my own life. It can be hard to gain that distance and enjoy the peace that comes from it. I imagine the painful experiences you have had in your life will serve you well in helping others in the years to come, if you can stop being afraid and see that it cannot hurt the real you. You are stronger than you realize. I hope you recover from your illness soon and can resume your therapy work before you incur financial hardships from not working. I wish you well.

It's always nice to hear from a fellow Autistic :) I do forgive my family (I think for the most part anyway) for the trauma, but still have a very sporadic and distant (due to my choice) relationship with my mother and it's the ongoing gaslighting and general unhealthiness that keeps the wound open, but I'm not at the point where I feel I can cut ties entirely. I think she may be Autistic but I'm not sure, she seems so vulnerable and clueless in some ways and I don't think she harms me on purpose. I have unfortunately hardly worked in my life so I have always struggled to make ends meet, but am comfortable despite this, that part could be worse! I think it's the chronic loneliness and not really having friends or family (not feeling rooted in the world anymore) that is the worst bit. Anyway, I am doing my best to heal and it is lovely that you have given me your support today! I have had some amazing spiritual experiences and wish I could have reached enlightenment in this life, maybe I still can. I do in my good moments have gratitude for all I have learnt so far. I 100% resonate with what you wrote here and I’d like to offer my opinion. First, we are not our egos. This persona we all have down here is NOT who we really are. We don’t actually have a gender, race, nationality, or trauma. That’s why the higher self calls the shots, because they have a pure, 360 degree insight into why we choose what we choose and we as humans do not. In fact science says that we are limited to seeing and hearing less than 1% of our reality. But we are supposed to be the ones to make decisions on what’s best for our SOUL? Does that make sense? So we leave that up to the UNBIASED version of ourselves. Secondly, yeah it’s really hard to make the “right choice” when we are bombarded with pain and trauma. I had a similar life (child abuse, rape, addiction, then I lost everything I ever cared about bc of said addiction). However I came to understand that ALL of that was to push me onto the right track. Not only that, but the only way I’d make it to the other track was t transmute that pain into empowerment. From there I began to want to use it to help others. I’m sorry about the cliche but please look beyond it: the more pain, the more gain. That’s why I chose this for myself. Intermediate and old souls are the ones who choose these lives. We are ready to take on that challenge. However, just as she mentioned in the video, it’s never a linear journey. We will fail. We will chose to stick a gun in our mouth instead of getting sober. We will have to get back on the horse a few times before hitting our target. And all of that is totally fine. However when we cross over, we might tweak things a bit. Maybe we were a little TOO eager to reach enlightenment asap and we need to go a little slower next time as to not overwhelm ourselves. One of my favorite NDE stories is by a woman named Betty. Her parents committed suicide together when she was younger and she responded by becoming a heroin junkie and what we also call a “garbage can” in the recovery field, meaning she would take anything that was in front of her and f it meant not feeling her feelings. Super long story short, she took lsd and met some beings that told her she needed to get clean and explained to her that she chose everything she experienced in her life. They showed her with a shopping cart and throwing all sorts of insane challenges in it, as if it were a silly game. She said “well if I’m going to earth then IM GOONG TO EARTH!!” And she went a little nuts with the challenges she took on. She saw this and understood it was time to make a change. Problem is- she was a heroin addict and you can’t just quit THAT drug. She got super dope sick and told her guides “I can’t do this, you need to help me or I am going to have to get something to make me feel better (heroin). She started to feel tingling in her head and in her minds eye she saw little men working in her brain. She came to and was no longer dope sick. Then she got sober and now she has transmuted that pain into power and she spends her time helping others with it. We will always receive whatever it is we need to get the job done. However we are also always allowed to use our free will to choose not to be in our path. Betty first chose to disregard her oath after speaking to her guides, then changed her mind upon being offered help. But first she had to ask for it (free will).

We aren’t our experiences, gender, race, etc. once we reach this perspective known as enlightenment, we see everyone and everything as perfect. We literally see everyone as just beings playing a part in a theatrical production and not this thing we call reality. There’s absolutely nothing real about this experience except the expansion it brings us. I literally saw the matrix when I left my body in meditation once. We are pretty much playing in a video game/simulation. So that’s about how seriously we should take it too. That’s not to say we shouldn’t be compassionate to those in pain, especially the ones who don’t know about this maya (Hindu word for “illusion”). It is a big part of why we are here after all. But we can do that without becoming attached to the illusion. Every master who has reached enlightenment has said this is the case (Ram Dass being my favorite), and that includes Jesus. He cleared up all the misconceptions of his teachings from the Bible in the ACIM material.

The block people are given in their brains and inner sight seems to have slipped a bit in mine, and I have had some profound memories and many flashes and dreams. I have never been regressed and I'm not sure about the authenticity of those regressions I've seen, but my experiences have changed the whole course of my life. So, in one incarnation you are working out Karma from a previous life, something you did to someone or someone did something to you. So you're here now balancing out Karma, ok that's fine... However, when you were born your mind has been memory wiped, you now don't have a clue why you are here. In this confusion and frustration, you do something to others and you allow others to do something to you... This means then, that without knowing it you continuously create Karma in this life, that needs to be worked out in the NEXT life. So, it's an endless cycle of suffering all because you were NOT allowed to remember your past life and what you are here to do. Thank you for your interpretation. The only thing that does not sit with me is that I feel we came into this life with pure love. I was abused from young up to the age 13 years. By everyone in my life. I had a schizophrenic mother who beat me. I had to take care of her at a young age. Plus, my sisters, I had to mother them. This was in the 60s. My mother joined a prayer group, which was a cult. I was abused there, and it mucked me up psychologically, so my life has been full of depression. I got addicted to alcohol at a young age to numb the pain. Had my son taken from me by his father, when I was clean 2 years in rehab. Cried for 20 years of all the abuse I suffered and grieving for my son. I was alone in my flat. I'm tired a lot because of stress. I don't drink now. I've been clean for 30 years. Worked hard for my recovery and stayed in AA meetings and therapist. I must have done something really bad in my past life. Honestly. I've been through all that and worked in care the rest of my life. So, it just shows. I had pure love in my soul in my heart when I came into this world. I'm a giver from the start. So I'm not sure what bad thing I did in another life. I believe we are pure when we come in. Life events make people bad, mot lessons from the past. God loves us.

I resonate with literally everything you shared. Here’s what I can tell you: those of us who sign up for lives like there where you are literally set up to fail… are older souls. And I’m not just blowing smoke. We are supposed to go through all of that pain so we can transmute it into strength and then grow exponentially and help others. My life path 11 validates this even more for me. My sister who also has the same story is a 33. Yes we come here as pure love, but the veil and maya (the illusion) quickly make us forget that. Consider looking into a course in miracles. It’s a challenging read at first so it helps to listen to some KZbin vids that explain it first. Also, Delores cannon was the OG. Now I am on the other side of that with 11.5 years sober, I get why I had to go through it all. And I have been alone and single for 9 years by choice now. No family, to hubby. Just me and my beautiful dog. I chose this to force myself to heal my codependency. I’m did that about 5 years ago and have been so peaceful that I haven’t wanted to date. And that’s how I know I am healed. From relationship addict to single by choice. These patterns will repeat until we transmute them into something powerful. 1) work on becoming mindful. Most ppl go about their day in tunnel vision. You can do this through mindful meditation practice (KZbin has an insane amount of them for free). 2) prayer- ask for that guidance. Then watch for synchronicities. For example, where I live it’s pretty rare to see triple digits in license plates. I drove 35 minutes to my first day of student teaching (high school art) and was feeling a little unsure. I saw no trips in the way. When I got there and was looking for parking in a 1 block radius I saw 8 cars with different triple digits. I took this as my sign that I am on the right path. Then I went in and had a crazy but wonderful experience. Since then the universe has kept me in this path. It’s been fairly smooth sailing. If you’re not on your path the universe will throw punches at you until you snap out of it and switch tracks. 3) follow your passions in life.

@@xzonia1meditate and pray on it. For ME, I felt similarly in my early 20’s. It turned out that I did know what I wanted to do but had written off those options because they were too hard. Now I’m 43 and just now following that dream. And to be clear, following your dreams doesn’t mean you have to invent the cure for cancer or become the next Elon Musk. Some people were born to adopt rescue animals and make the world a better place by helping one animal at a time. It doesn’t even have to be a job- which is my point here. Finally, don’t be afraid to dabble. Start by writing a list of everything and anything that interests you. Google “gardner’s theory intelligences” and see which boxes you fit into most. Let that guide you if you’re not coming up with much on your own. And again… pray and ask for that guidance.

"Karma" works in super weird ways sometimes. On top of the basic "I feel I need this or deserve this" thing, sometimes we have other agendas woven in. For whatever reason, I can clearly remember my most recent life, when I loved and lost a deeply soulful, brilliant humanitarian that I deeply admired, and I feel I've modeled this life after his so that I can learn to be a more like him. The most painful things I've experienced in this life were inspired by his experiences, because similar pains made him who he was. Remembering doesn't take the sting out of suffering, but it certainly helps me understand what my soul was thinking, and it keeps me on track. As above, so below; just as we admire and emulate people in life, our souls can also do the same -- or at least mine does. With all due respect to Joanne, her work and the theory of karma. I held this belief of reincarnation for years. After listening to many accounts of NDE experiences and meditating on my own ideas about reincarnation. I find the idea to be almost enslavement and despairing-how can you ever know ya got it right? You need some other entity to let you know?. Usually it seems like the soul leaves the earth plane, meets with an advanced light being or relative, this is all well and good until you are told you must return, you have work to do, you must fix this or that. This all sounds like sin to me disguised as "karma" and I don't buy it anymore. To consider your soul who is blissfully free of earth must be CONVINCED to go back and practically guilted into returning. This sounds a lot like sin to me and a price to be paid. Who is this being? And what if you flat out refused and said you wanted to explore the dimensions available. I have no intent of returning to earth and if something OUTSIDE OF SELF is attempting to propagandize my return, I will not go back into that dark space without assessing who is in the drivers seat-perhaps when that moment arrives I will see it like Joanne but after many many hours of study, consideration and knowing this is a plane of deceit-I will be looking to my indestructible sovereign soul for guidance-not outside myself.

Earth is a tiny spec in the infinite universe. Personally, I think it's the ghetto. I don't want to come back here - though I love it's nature - it's the human nature that distresses me. We choose it. We can choose not to come back. We can instead learn by being a guide to others or through thumbing through the Akashic records. Free will doesn’t vanish just because we don’t have a body :) now in terms of coming back instantly if we end our life- that’s also a choice because we agree to it before we embark on this journey. I agree. I always hated the idea of karma and being tied down to it and bound to it. You made a good point about how that really is no different than sin. And according to this belief I always felt so much dread about it.. dread that I am forced to come and live many more miserable lives in this miserable realm. Others have said we do choose and we aren't forced to go. We can just grow and learn at a much more accelerated level so we choose to go which makes more sense to me. Or we can choose to just stay in the spiritual realm and grow there but the growth just happens at a slower pace. I think that makes more sense. I also think a few other things she's said are not accurate.. I don't think the earth was designed to be some vacation spot. Earth is supposed to be the most most difficult, dense and low vibrational planet to reincarnate into. How is that supposed to be a vacation spot? I watched another interview of a guy who apparently had pre-birth memories and he said he remembered the creation of the earth and how we were all excited to be able to experience the most dense reality yet because it will allow us to grow at a much more accelerated rate. I feel like that also makes more sense to be than earth supposedly being created as a "vacation spot".. the earthly realm is full of suffering and everyone in their NDE's experiences relief and so much peace and love once they're on the other side.. that sounds like the real "vacation" to me

The book that opened me up to the acceptance of Reincarnation was Life Between Life by Joe Fisher, Joel L. Whitton, Joel Fisher. Read it in the late 80's and it changed me, permanently. Nothing else got through to me beforehand. It clicked and made logical sense. I think I have a couple memories. I know I came to this plane with a lot of karma that I'm still trying to understand at 63 yo. 1/4 century plus as a drunk and now over 1/4 century sober. I don't want another lifetime afflicted with alcoholism or drug addiction. I don't know if dying sober will mean I don't have to go through it again, but damn I'm already petitioning to the universe - please, not another one.

Well perhaps that’s why “thou shall not kill” is a pretty serious issue for God? Here is another conundrum: are some murders karmic? If so that means they were written before we came here and we agreed to either kill or be killed. So it’s too black and white to say “this= that”. There’s just too much nuance involved. Same wit suicides. It’s been said that some suicides are karmic, to teach the parent a valuable lesson. But that begs the question, how the heck are we supposed to know if we are excused to do that to ourselves ir if there will be more consequences of such an act? In the end I subscribe to “there are no mistakes” because literally everything that happens benefits the Creator, which is the entire purpose of life. We are God experiencing its own creation. We can learn about love by being love, or we can learn about love by having that stripped away from us and experiencing the pain of not having it. Both lead to wisdom about love.

Melissa, we think a lot about human souls. But humans are just one of the animals. It would be very interesting to see an episode about animal souls. Here on KZbin I learned about Anna Breytenbach who communicates with animals. Seems like a soul-to-soul thing. For me, the fact of animal souls, and us just being one type of animal/soul combination, really alters the idea of what we're doing here incarnated. The vast majority of Earth's history there were no human bodies to incarnate into. So if our souls were here, we were here as other animals.

I too believe that our body is no different than an animal body (biobot?) and the pets we have are the ones to next get a human body. The first thing to understand is that a plant is not better than a rock, an animal is not better than the plant, and a human is not better than the animal. We are merely at different stages of our evolution, much like a 1st grader vs a 3rd grader is. The final purpose (end goal) of the animal is to come into self realization. That is the boundary between animals and humans. We have egos and they don’t. The animals that are close to breaking away from that and into self realization are animals that are pets, and the more intelligent species like elephants, dolphins, and orangutans (for example). Our pets make contracts with us before we come into this life and often spend many lifetimes with us, and they agree to teach us whichever lesson we need. Likewise, humans agree to help the animal evolve through that self-realization. A wild dog runs PURELY on instinct, but a pet dog has an identity, thanks to us. They are much closer to evolving to the next level than the wild dog is . Again- not better or worse, just different. The Law of One dictates that earth has 3 densities: the 4 elements, life- lacking in self awareness, and life governed by self awareness (ego). The next level is for the human to move beyond ego (false sense of self) and return to remembering their true nature. That is enlightenment and when we graduate ti a new density. There are 7 densities and the final octave is re-merging with the Creator (it takes hundreds of billions of years to get there). But we are infinite beings, so when we do that we come back to do it all over again. As a result, we are ALWAYS expanding, because infinite beings can’t not expand. If we cease ti expand, then we cease being infinite. So back to step 1 as the elements. I also believe this is how new universes are created. New big bangs. We are God experiencing itself.

I realised a past life completely out of the blue. I was visiting a friend who was watching the History channel on TV. There was a show on about the American Civil War around Richmond Virginia. They showed an old photo and said it was the scene of a battle. I said the photo wasn't right. The person on the TV said, that the photo was taken later and some things were changed. My friend asked how I knew about it and my immediate reply was that I was killed at that battle. After that I started having 'special' dreams about being a corporal in a dirty grey uniform in that war. I am a Brit and never been to the states, and never wanted to, I then realised that I am afraid to go there. That happened about 25 years ago now and I'm confused. As a teen I had an urge to join the army and at 13 years old I joined the army cadets as a hobby. I was a good cadet and became the youngest sergeant. I have buried something in the place I lived in most of my lives. A broken toy cannon in Scotland, a ceramic toy animal at Versailles, herbal sachets in Scotland/Wales, I could go on and on. I have glimpses of being a starving young boy in France before the revolution, a life where I was herding sheep, a feeling that I was alive during the Civil War. In addition, my older brother was born with a birthmark on his arm which spelled the word six. My grandmother tried to kill him because of the birthmark. My issue with most reincarnation ideology is that it's very similar to Abrahamic religions, where everyone is here to fix something. It's always something bad about us that needs to be made right. Karma is normally taught as thought you are getting a return of something bad you need to be good enough to fix. Why is it so focused on the negative and the negative aspects of past lives? No life is all good or all bad, no person is all good or all bad. Why don't I hear people do past life regressions and realize why they have certain gifts and how those gifts have carried them through lives, etc. Or, why isn't there a past life regression where some realizes the blessings they have in this life are because of what good they did in another life. In addition, the whole concept of "earth is a school" seems lacking because at least school provides you with a teacher and knowledge to past tests. We are born here with no one teaching us but life. We don't have anyone preparing us for the tests so that we can pass. We aren't even born with the knowledge of what we are "supposed to fix". Maybe if we had the knowledge of "what we are supposed to fix" then people would be busy working on that and eliminating the suffering that we cause each other in this existence. Listening to this makes it seem like we are all here because we are failures. Well, we only know what we know when we know it.

There are different ways to learn a language. Two common ways are you can be immersed in it, or you can be taught in a classroom. Immersion means you live in a place where everyone speaks that language. Unlike classroom learning, no single individual is your teacher; everyone you meet is. There are no lesson plans, no "tests," but your ability to communicate more effectively over time is proof of you learning the language. Life is your school. We're not here because we're failures. We're the foreign exchange students learning how to speak the language. You can see it as an adventure and have fun with it, or you can see it how my roommate in college saw it who felt like her dad was punishing her by sending her to the US to study. It's more fun if you take the former attitude. :)

Having authentic dialogues with others is how we best learn language. I wanted to do well, so after confessing, “I disobeyed my mother, I disobeyed my father, I fought with my brother, my sister.” My older sister was behind me in line, apparently listening when I added I disobeyed my grandfather, (both grandfathers actually passed away before I was born & my father died when I was three!) Almost all ideas about karma is assumed to be something that is something to resolve because of the belief in linear lifetime reincarnation. If you think of existence in terms of simultaneous time, then it cannot be linear lifetimes, and it cannot be about resolving something since it can't accumulate. Instead, karma is about patterns and conditions and not about cause/effect. The idea of astrology is tied to this concept, because it is about condition, energy peaks, focus. Karma is not about lessons, but ideas. To examine an idea is different than being the victim of something. You are not here to learn something. You are here to create yourself through patterns, circumstances, and ideas about the self. In order to do this, each life is a new creation based on a combination of traits of other simultaneous lives. This is where habits, biases, predictions come from. It isn't a carry over, but a new creation. The creation isn't a new being. It is a new point of view. The idea of a separate identity creates the illusion of punishment, karma as is misunderstood, and linear reincarnation. But no one is a separate identity, but is in fact all incarnations, as well as all versions of each incarnation (a version being the choice you didn't take, a different version of an individual identity).

Yeah that's what I thought about too.. it doesn't make sense because if we are here because we need to "un-do" our karma, we have no idea what karma we have that we need to un-do and make right.. so how can we ever get rid of the karma if that's the case? So I think that this view of karma isn't accurate. But on the other hand, to entertain this idea, I guess since we plan our lives we plan to have experiences where we have an opportunity to "do the right thing" and clear up our karma.. or through our gut instinct etc.
