There's not really a global consciousness for lgbtq people that are not from the first world or white. I don't expect Michael to speak on those issues since its not his experience, but you are right. So many parts of the world are so behind recognising the human rights of sexual minorities. There should be a different platform that highlights this and gives those lgbtq folk around the global south a voice. Not just the rich people in those countries either.

@@john.premose yeah, if it is like this anywhere, it's limited to super-metro areas like LA, San Fran, NYC, Boston. And even then, there's so, so much crap. But OP is right, India's stance on LGBTQ issues is so far behind. They've only just recently decriminalized same sex acts. In the west, we've had to deal with this crap because of the dominant religion (Christianity) being interpreted as being anti-queer. India had no such issues, Sanatana Dharma/Hinduism, Jainism and Buddhism don't have a problem with same sex attraction (at least not in an official capacity), but the British doing their jacked up British thing gave India all of the baggage of Christian nations, while also depleting India of much of it's resources, and using them until they were done, then chopping the country up based on lines drawn on maps in London, and ghosting them like a bad Grindr hookup. Sometimes I wonder, are there any global issues we face today that can't be directly tied to imperialism and colonialism?

But just like what happened to you wasn’t your fault, the after-effects aren’t your fault either. And I do believe that you are growing even if you cannot see it, that inside you are growing, even by facing the darkness and having the courage to talk about it and to Want Better even after everything you’ve been through. Please keep your faith that the world can improve, if not for your sake then for mine-It’s hard to believe in yourself, but maybe you can believe in me and I’ll believe in you :) And maybe we should both get therapy... I had a couple sessions a few weeks ago and it wasn’t as hard as I had feared. Maybe try it if you can make time? Please go easy on yourself. If you don’t believe in spiritual stuff, maybe it would help to know that therapy is actually very (almost too much sometimes) clinical, empirical, medical, etc. and not at all like Freud or other psychoanalysts-no classically trained therapist will be asking you what you think your dreams mean. I’m sorry to say at this point your “Western clinically researched therapy tactics are woo-woo spiritual nutjob stuff” take is a little gauche, gorge. It’s just ignorant of 60+ years of rigorous research. I understand that you’re saying you cope fine, but then, if you cope fine, why did you make this comment? You are in pain. Why would you not see a doctor if your arm were broken? And besides, this isn’t about “Mercury being in retrograde” or rising Leo or anything else astrological-even if you think your friends are silly, YOU have admitted to having serious trauma. Isn’t that a little different than rising Leo or whatever? While I think it’s a little judgmental of you, you’re allowed to believe your friends are silly and overreactive. But YOU? You have serious trauma. Why would it be silly to think therapy would help that? And even if you’re managing OKAY, why be just okay? Why not see if you can be better than “just managing?” Please hun. I do not want it cause I think I’m fine. I’m physically and mentally fine! 👍🏻 I’m not too much into astrology, but my friends are.
