Ira Gershwin once admitted that Ella Fitzgerald's performances of George Gershwin's songs were the best he's heard. And I can say the same about you arranging them for solo piano. This and your arrangement of "Someone to Watch Over Me" will certainly make an appearance on my channel this fall. Greetings.

@@rupertaustin yes it is! I play christmas piano music at the seattle cancer care alliance in their waiting rooms. It will be nice to download your new Christmas stuff so I can give the patients a nice "concert!" more than the usual tired old carols!

@@rupertaustin Haha, it's good. Going outside is good for the mind and just in general. By the way, I like your new arrangement, maybe I'll use it eventually if I get the courage to do so, haha.

Is this being recorded with Kontakt live? Or you just drag the midi with Kontakt library? and what library is this because it sounds so lively
@rupertaustin2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment. I use the Synthogy Ivory II Steinway Model D sampled piano (it is not a Kontakt library) as a VST within the Reaper DAW. The reverb is Fab Filter Pro-R

@@rupertaustin and you record it live?
@rupertaustin2 жыл бұрын
@@fauzybima2826 Yes I record it live, but it usually requires two or three takes to get a nice version.

Thanks for your insightful comment. I did indeed include quite a spicy sound in the middle of bar 58, and it is usually pleasing to the ear to find a good way to resolve such sounds.

3:00 is probably my favourite chord of all time C13 #11 🔥
@Oleg__3 жыл бұрын
The same chord appears twice in "Love Letters" (bars 26 and 42). And yes, I was also impressed with this chord, noting it in my past comment. "Love Letters" is one of my favorites here.
@nezkeys793 жыл бұрын
@@Oleg__ yes especially when a Cm7 comes after it
@rupertaustin3 жыл бұрын
It is C13#11 and also occurs at beginning of bar 23 for example. If you want to produce this particular altered dominant sound in any key, play root + major third + minor seventh in left hand (e.g. F A Eb for F dominant) and a major triad from two half-steps above that root (so for F dominant add a G major triad). It is a lovely sound but even better if you can incorporate it in the optimum places.
@nezkeys793 жыл бұрын
@@rupertaustin yeah I knew the chord already and I also learned it the same way (as a polychord) D / C7. Of course you don't need the 5th (or the root if there's a bass player so E Bb D F# A is fine) I learned regular 13 chords with this "polychord" approach too. For example LH: Bb +Ab RH: Gm triad Thinking of a minor triad of the 6th degree of the scale over a root and 7th helped me to learn them as a youngster. I applied this sort of thinking to many other chords. G11 for example can be thought of as F/G. Other examples.. C7 b5 b9 = F# triad / C+E C13 b5 b9 = F#m triad / C+E
