Love your videos LSV! Congrats on the twins! Little commander tip: At 10:20 you can let your commander go to the graveyard and then exile it with lavamancer to put it in the command zone. It's specially important in underworld breach lines and wasn't really relevant this game. But it's a good one to know as a magic player 😊

I don't understand why can't there be a sideboard in this format? Original EDH rules had a 10 card singleton sideboard, but it wasn't really used due to the casual nature of the format, but in this more competitive one it would fit perfectly.

Because finding the cards to cut during sideboard takes à while in a 100 cards singleton deck.

The Commitee thinks it would take too long and be a problem in tournaments. I disagree and think it would be better in the long run, but it would also change the format drastically at this point.

The only sideboard possible is changing the commander with an other from your 99 cards deck. If your commander is 5c Niv you could change for sliver queen but not Nicol bolas for ex. Mono colored or dual have easier for that. But the main reason there are no SB is just time. In paper duel commander tournament round are 50 minutes usually. There's so much wasting time during game due to searching/shuffling big size deck that doing 2-3 game is really hard now imagine SB between each games... The worst I had once was 5c Niv vs my friend 5c niv. We had to draw after 50 minutes+extra turns doing 1 game. And we were not slow players lol... 😅

Watching you play misdirection reminds me of my first jss back in 2000. Top 8 I’m on acc blue and playing against rebels. I played 1 main deck misdirection and it really crushed souls back then. Turn 3 I go to treachery their rebel while they had mom online. They tap mom to give rebel pro blue while I misdirect the treachery to mom. I totally played it off like I made a mistake forgetting about mom on board. He calls judge and they scratch their head because it was never seen before back then. I won the ruling and proceeded beating rebels which was one of the worst matchups for acc blue back then!!! Ended up going undefeated with over 115 kids playing. One of my mtg highs. I didn’t get to go to Florida for the championship because of course I’m a kid with no money, but it was a great time winning boxes and a scholarship.

Duel Commander is a real nice Format, feels a little like kind of the best out of legacy and EDH. Tough maybe in that concern maybe Canadian Highlander would be the sickest. I actually have a Duel Commander Deck with like all of the big creatures out of your Cube for flash sneak breach :)) Some wubrg Omnath Pile :D

19:30 an option here (not necessarily a good one?) is to throw out Brazen Borrower and/or Galvanic Discharge, let Mom give protection from the spell, then misdirect your *own* spell to the other unprotected creature

No, but that's why he mentioned doing it after blocks. If they wait until he blocks Barrowgoyf with True-Name and then Stomp _him,_ all damage prevention is stopped for the turn so TNN dies to combat damage.

It's pretty strong as a DnT style control deck, but your answers have to align well and DnT doesn't have to factor commanders. Most DC seems to be "cheap card advantage in the command zone and 20+ removal spells" so I'd imagine the gameplay is worse.

I’ve been playing a little, and I have trouble with Phelia opponents. They get nasty initiative loops with White Plume Adventurer and Seasoned Dungeoneer. Edit to add: my deck is a The First Sliver cascade homebrew, so it’s not fast but it eventually snowballs a lot of value.

I also added Misdirection to my deck recently and it never seems to work for me either. But the card is obviously amazing vs the plentiful removal and counter wars in the format. It always seems like it's Solitude or Fury or Touch the Spirit Realm and it drives me crazy..

There are commander exclusive free spells like deflecting swat and fierce guardianship that are free with your commander out. With a 2 mana commander that is broken. I believe misdirection can stop counterspells as well and when you had it in hand and got mana tithed I believe misdirection could have taken the target and let your spell resolve. Deflecting swat I suggested works the same way but doesn’t require you to exile anything.

"Vista" is originally a Spanish word and thus would be pronounced "veesta" - it has also often been incorporated into English and is commonly pronounced with the short "i" instead. Essentially, both are acceptable pronunciations.

Any competitive highlander format (7ph, Canadian, European) would be great to see! But I doubt he'll play anything that isn't officially in mtgo or arena. Maybe once Gladiator (hopefully) one day comes to arena LSV will try that but the collection/wildcard thing might be a problem. Edit: Well obviously he plays cubes on mtgo that aren't featured there but I believe it's a different case for highlander formats since he would have to search for opponents elsewhere
