Hello thanks for the review. I ordered one and it's indeed a beautiful watch. I only have an issue with the bracelet : I can not center the claps like I want (I have approx 6.5 to 6,7 inch wrist) because unlike yours (see at 4:56) my bracelet has 4 fixed links which ends up with 5 when including the one that has a screw but can not be separated from the claps.. Did you do something special on yours ?

Thank you Harvind. Like yourself, I was looking for an almost perfect BB 58 homage. There's something about the colours, and that red triangle. I bought a Cronos BB homage before the Octopus, and at 41mm, it's just a bit too big. It's as well finished as the Octopus and certainly has that certain look and feel of a quality watch just by looking at it. I enjoy your reviews and it would seem we have similar tastes. I love my Pelagos homage too, (albeit, a Thorn) All the best. Spencer

Ok, so I’ve watched the video and I remembered that you and I had already exchanged some comments and we agreed that, although the Octopus was highly priced, it would be worth giving it a try. I’m so glad that you did and that you liked it. I read the one review someone wrote for it in AE and his complaint was the bracelet and now I know why. That would be interesting! I think the Cronos looks great it’s a bit too thick considering it has a PT5000. The daytime lume on that also looks more yellow than this Octopus.

Thanks man! NGL I’m kind of worn out by Tudor homages haha. For what it’s worth, I’d go with the SM if you prefer the smaller size and clasp. The Octopus has a slimmer mid case, fully lumed bezel insert, and higher beat movement. Both are around the same price, so it’s down to which features you value more.

Unfortunately I don’t have the Thorn any longer, but they look and feel a bit different. The case profile on the Octopus is closer to the Tudor. The bracelets look very similar, but it feels more refined and high quality on the Octopus.

Is that the 37mm one, WD7922 I think? Wish it was 39-40mm and also with a better logo but love that $110. Just ordered the 41mm Cronos version for about $40 more that the Watchdives, and man is it a looker. Hopefully it doesn't wear too big as 39-40 is my sweet spot.

I have San Martin's SN004 limited version with matte bezel. Its 38mm diameter, 46 mm lug to lug and 13mm thick.

I had that too, albeit the glossy bezel version. It’s a great watch but it just didn’t have the feel of a BB58. The case profile and proportions are different, while this Octopus is much more accurate to the Tudor.

The bezel is what makes it stand out from Thorn I believe. It is a lot more expensive but you seem more impressed by its finishing. I wonder if they know it's you! And thus regulate the movement and hand pick the watch for your stunning review.

The finishing and overall quality on this is levels above the Thorn. I feel the price is justified for what you’re getting in this package. Honestly, I don’t think they regulate the movement just for me. I bought my Octopus Kraken Pelagos 39 lightly used on the secondary market, and even that watch had excellent accuracy!

It's yellow, but it's a bit more muted than the yellow on the San Martin SN004 I had. The shade of yellow on the indices/bezel markings are perfectly matched too.

I don't think this is very close to the original. I have both the actual BB58 and also a San Martin SN004 (Watchdives edition I think) and this Octopus seems to suffer from many of the same problems as the San Martin. The biggest issue is color science. The areas that are black on the original looks grey on the Octopus. The numbers on the bezel of the original has a gold metallic sheen to them. Same with the red triangle. On the Octopus they are plain yellow and red. Same with the printing on the dial. On the original it has a nice glow to it. On the Ocopus it is just yellow. Also the bezel is about twice as thick on the Octopus vs the BB58. All in all it looks okay (better than my San Martin) but still it misses out on what makes the BB58 on amazing watch (in my opinion).

I have both a SM and an Octopus BB58 (and BB54) homage and I have to disagree with your claim that the Octopus is like the SM without the sharp edges. The Octopus definitely has sharp edges--both the case and bracelet. The edges may even be sharper than the SMs. I think you need to revise your video. BTW, I like the Octopus so I'm not biased, just factual.

There are probably some differences between batches for all these brands. In my experience, SM always has sharper edges than most other watches. I guess that’s just the byproduct of their highly defined case transitions. I didn’t feel that sharpness on my unit of the Octopus.

A brand that deserves more credit is Cronos. Their BB58 homage is stunning, but at 41mm is a bit on the large side. The quality and finish is equal to the Octopus, and San Martin.

And Thorn is, I think, one of the best, because it's short and has a simple, symmetrical logo. It respects some fundamentals in design. More often than not I wonder why they don't hire western designers. They hear that complaint a lot and it's certainly within their budget. It's their target and their work has been very succesful in China too.

That’s my grail and I am saving up for it, but why create a self-imposed limit on myself? I’m enjoying the look and design on my wrist until I get the Tudor. That’s just me. For a lot of people, Black Bays are ridiculously out of reach. They’re luxury watches, and luxury is not something the majority of the world can or will be able to afford. Why can’t they enjoy the look at a more attainable price and be happy?

​@@nicacioalencar5560Well, they're sister companies, no IP issue there ;) Clearly " homages " are copies, look wise the goal is to be as close as possible to the real deal, with a different brand name. They wouldn't exist without the original one. Microbrand sales are hurt by them by the way. It is what it is, I'm not at war with this and I have no plan to buy a Tudor or a Rolex in the first place, but there is no doubt that those are copies and that the customers benefit from the minimum wages and the absence of investment in design etc because, well, the original makers spent that money for them. And for the customers. But if youtubers use that word they're up for some troubles.
