The BB58 is for many close to the ’perfect’ vintage diver. 😎 It’s hard to kill that vibe here. Well, when you are close to perfection you are getting picky. 🧐 For those who are not happy with the bracelet, I would suggest to go for the leather strap: it’s just one of the best. 👌

Tudor makes such an amazing clasp for the Pelagos, I have no idea why they don't us it on more of their watches.
@FayeClegg3 жыл бұрын
Most probably because the pelagos is a true tool watch unlike a bb58. Tudor is the tool watch brand. Pelagos & P01
@Kalmar9173 жыл бұрын
It is because of Rolex. They cannot have BB58 or any BB line have it because that would be competing with big brother. BB58 is a tool watch and can take a beating. Not to mention it has more capability than the Tudor Submariner of the past. Pelagos is solely a tool watch and not a well balanced watch. BB58 on the other hand can go with a Tux and go scuba diving. We won’t see that clasp on all BB line. I suspect some of the line may have it like those that are made from different metals.

There is no good reason. Omega suffers from this same problem. The adjustable clasp of the Planet Ocean should be used on many more models, and re-dressed for more minimal clasps, if needed. It's almost as if they relegate these features to specific models as a sort of "playground" but fail to spread the love across the line.

The majority of my watches have a date. I usually choose a watch that looks best with my clothes for that day. It takes real time to set the date which may be wrong when I need to wear the watch again a few days later. Me too. I am 194cm and a big chap so the BB heritage just about looks right on my 19cm wrist if not slightly small. I tried on the BB58 when I bought my BB Heritage and on my wrist it was tiny. Plus I am sure those that complain about it being too thick have never actually worn the BB heritage. I also have a Breitling Avenger 46mm and that really is a thick beast, the BB heritage is just rightly proportioned for a bigger chap to wear.

First impression was that it's a total no-go for me. Then I tried on the regular Black Bay Heritage (41mm) and found that size to be much better. The 41mm piece just felt like the "right" size, whereas the BB58 was clearly too small. Even the woman helping me out at the jewelry store said the BB58 was way too small for my wrist. I'll definitely try them both on at least one more time, as well as the Pelagos, just to see what my second impression is. I recently (Nov 2021) bought the Black Bay 58 Navy Blue to compliment a range watches in my collection that include the classic Rolex Submariner Date 16610 which I've cherished for 19 yrs. The Tudor BB 58 is a solid, very well-made luxury timepiece and I appreciate its rather understated blue dial and bezel. Like-for-like think of the Blue 58 version as a more modern take on its original black and gilt sibling. But after watching some of your helpful videos, plus many others, I succumbed and I have just purchased the BB 58 Black version on 20 Dec 21 from my AD at retail - there is no shortage of them in the UK these days. I do, and still love the blue, but I have also grown to adore the warmer, more vintage appeal that the black exudes, not to mention the slightly darker shade of steel Tudor has cleverly used to add further differentiation. Maybe now owning identically-made watches with the exact same specs is crazy, but hey it's Christmas after all !

I love my BB58. The size is perfect for my 6.75" wrist. It has warm, vintage tones thanks to the matte black dial and gilt with aluminum bezel. The symmetry of the no-date dial is perfect (if I need to know the date, I wear my Datejust instead). The Tudor is a lovely watch and a joy to own and wear. It also is amazingly accurate - mine has been perfectly accurate for the two months I have owned it. I have mine on leather (I think the leather enhances the warm vintage tones better than the metal bracelet). I believe the black dial BB58 has more in common with a vintage four digit Sub than a modern Submariner. Highly recommended.

Fair point...normally, i would also advise people not to buy any watch brand as a Rolex substitute. If you really want a Rolex, any other brand will not satisfy you. Maybe for a few months, or even a year, but you will always yearn for the watch that you want....Unfortunately, Rolex isn't giving us much choice. For my case, I am not a watch collector. I can appreciate a quality watch, but I will not collect a watch simply because it is interesting. I want to use my watch/es. So, after wearing 1 watch everyday for the past 12 years (an Automatic Aquaracer, given to me by my parents), I have decided to get 2 watches for myself - a quartz as a daily beater, and 1 luxury automatic for formal/special occasions...ideally an OP Rolex. But no AD will sell me an OP (even if they have it on display). So, what will I do for my special watch? Going to a gray market dealer is a big no-no. Just get the next best thing to a Rolex...yeah...a substitute watch....coz Rolex ADs discriminate those without prior history with them. How can I have history if they do not sell me one in the first place?

As well as the details you've mentioned there is (for me at least) a huge weight difference between the Heritage & the BB58. Try wearing a Heritage on a nato and you'll really notice it.

Do you have a Chronext promo? Also, are there tax/fees when shipped to USA?

I had the heritage 41mm and while I didn't mind the dimensions or thickness, it was the weight that killed it for me. Sold it to fund the 58 and I love it. Definitely a keeper for me.

I decided on the blue BB58 over the black. I think the blue is more versatile for my style. A date window was a must for me until I started wearing automatics and rotating watches. I think the BB58 is close to being my perfect watch.

I have to agree with you. I much prefer blue model to black one.

I’m really surprised you don’t mention how long the clasp is with the lack of an articulating link on the top side. It bothers me a lot and I have a 6.75” wrist, so I can’t imagine how uncomfortable that is for someone with a smaller wrist!

@@NCSWIC17 Yeah fair enough! I still have a couple of them… but I will be doing some modifying for sure.

I have the navy blue. Got in early and purchased mid July 2020 with only a 2 week wait.

Jenni! I’ll say it again: “Use the bezel as a date!”

I've never even considered that, but that is a great idea! Just set mine now.

Use the bezel as a date? I know I must be being very obtuse in not getting this my friend but what/how do you mean?

would hope to have your comment on BLACK BAY FIFTY-EIGHT 18K. the bezel is still matt green anodised aluminium and fades over time

No date on the BB58? Astonishing! I can certainly see why someone wouldn't know this before they'd bought it. I've worn this watch for two years and hadn't spotted it 🤣🤣🤣

Okay okay, twist my arm... I guess I'll splurge xD This is my grail watch for the most part and at 5k CAD, that's no modest amount to spend in my tax bracket. Really glad to have watched this video and gain more insight. What a stunning piece!! I love the fact that you're still rocking the apple watch on the right wrist. Once I make my Black Bay 58 purchase, I'll likely do the same to continue my daily tracking. I thought it might look a bit silly but it actually doesn't at all IMO.

My AD had a bunch of Tudor in stock over the weekend: the BB58 in blue & gilt dials, as well as the GMT. Finally got a chance to see all of them on my wrist. I've been wanting the gilt dial 58 for a while, but i was surprised how much i liked the GMT in person, and maybe even slightly better, than the gilt dial 58.

Nice one Jenni! When I purchased my Pelagos LHD nearly a year ago I was shown a blue BB58 that someone ordered but decided not to purchase. That watch looked fantastic but I stepped out of the store with my Pelagos. Over the following days I did wonder if I should have gone for the BB58 as it was now sold and the country was again in lock down. A month or so later I did get a BB58 in black via an alleged online order error as these were by appointment only but with no appointments in lock down I managed to get it. I made the right choice to get the black one. The blue is great but for me the black is my preference. I completely agree that the Rolex Submariner is a totally different watch. From a personal perspective my preference is a no date watch for symmetry or if it has a date then my preferred date position is at 6 o'clock. That's why my Sub has no date. I must say that having seen the BB458 in gold it is gorgeous, I want one and it's on my list but at the price there are a few others that are above it.

I've got a junghans max bill from about 2006 with no date aperture so just a plain time piece although when I'm setting the time and or I'm simply sitting quietly reading and it's on my wrist I hear a very crisp and distinct *click* as if the date has trained over although it's at 8 o'clock rather than the usual 12.. So I was wondering if anybody else has a similar junghans max bill time piece story.
