In this video, I photograph the Cave Nebula in Cepheus.
I've never shot this target before, and it turned out better than expected considering the limited exposure time and bright moon!
I also try out the Pegasus Astro Dewmaster to power my camera, and keep the optics of my telescopes dry.
For More Information about my image of the Cave Nebula, and the equipment used, see: astrobackyard....

Hey Trevor, the Dec Autoguiding North/South/Off/Auto setting is on your graph adjustments on the far right. You want to change that to 'Auto' there. I think you knew this but it's easy to forget all these settings! The best idea is to create a new profile in PHD2 one for each setup, this way you can customize each different equipment settings. Great video and nice Cave Nebula!

ok I have watched this channel for months now (6?) and have learned a lot I hope. Just ordered everything down to the laptop based on your setups. I joined an astronomy club. I won't have any excuses. Still waiting on the mount though a cem40 due 4 to 6 more weeks. I do have one item left, a filter but my skies are a bit better at level 4 and if facing south its the gulf of mexico so good skies that way (I live on the coast). This was/is a chunk of change as I over did it a bit for a astrophotographer newb. Stellarvue sv102t triplet f7, stellarvue 50 guidescope with zwo120, eye pieces holy cow! ( 1 nagler, 1 pentax xw, 1 explore scientific 92', astro physic barlow, all individually picked with eye relief in mind), the mount new model cem40 it is light! with a 16lb head!!, a new laptop, and the newest Altair 183 tec cooled (peltier cooling) for up -45 below ambient if desired, and some more stuff but ill stop there I over did it but I am an old guy so I can. Wife likes it to because it is a social event and we make it fun. Its no wonder you have sponsors.

Hey trevor. What do you think of this setup? The purpose is to have most portable astrophotography setup, no laptops, minimum weight and relatively cheap. Tripod: SW Star Adventurer Pro OTA: SW Evostar 72ED (2kg) Imaging Camera: ZWO ASI 294MC Pro (0.41 kg) Guidescope: ZWO mini guidescope (0.25 kg) Guide camera: ZWO ASI120MM mini (0.06 kg) All cables to ZWO ASIAIR (1kg) Counterweight (1kg) Total payload: 4.72 KG The total cost would be around $2K or less.

Hi Trevor! Quick question-Does the dew heater not cause thermal currents across the optics and thus cause distortions to incoming light you are trying to photograph/video ? Like the same phenomenon that causes us to need to cool down Primary Mirror before use ? I'm a newbie so plz forgive me if i sound stupid. Great channel btw! Keep up the amazing work! @English comment passing by I accidentally found myself getting into deep space photography with a tripod and a mirrorless camera. You can do an impressive amount of photography with a Skyguider/Skywatcher tracker and a long photo lens. I bought a cheap 80mm refractor, a Meade adventure scope, and built my own wooden tripod. I'm in $300 for the tracker, $80 for the scope, $100 for some decent eyepieces, and I already had the woodworking skills and a mirrorless camera. Yeah, I get a lot of chromatic aberration, but I've had so much fun, learned so much and am teaching everyone around me. Get yourself a Skywatcher and watch the skies open up!

I assume that though you move around in your yard, you probably set up in just a few places. Do you have something to mark the positions of your tripod legs? I'm not sure of the best technique but have considered placing small (inches) concrete pads one for each leg then you are pretty close to lined up from the start.

I leave my scope outside to acclimatise for a couple of hours before use, and I can honestly say I've had no problems with dew. I use Reflectors though.
