Before you go much further, CHANGE that transaxle! Those old non synchro split case boxes are WEAK! Find the numbers on the side and sell it to someone restoring a split or oval, while it's still in one piece.

Just wondering if you've considered a pair of Bellflower tips for the exhaust to bring the lower rear quarters closer to the ground, visually? It was a popular mod on early '60s mild customs (especially GM full-size cars) to help make up for the difference in height between the rockers and the area behind the rear fenderwell. It definitiely suits the age of the car and its body styling, even though your general build style may be a bit more modern.

I think he could take maybe 1" off the recessed part of the sill. Then the body would sit so low that it would look like that lower body line is on the ground. Either way, it looks sick as it is without the pinch welds. Can't wait to see this thing rolling.

I hope the roads where you live are perfect because that is the only place you can drive cars with really low profile tyres, in Australia we call these tyres rubber band tyres. I had a Hilux with 16s and 35 tyres and it tram-tracked badly on average roads so I went to 15s with 45 tyres and never had a problem with tram tracking again.

You'll probably grenade that split case trans with the stock motor unless you REALLY feather foot it, it just won't take a turbo at all.

Hey John , there is a Mk-3 body kit made by the company Ludwig, but it comes from Germany. Are you familiar with it. If so, how do I get it imported into the USA? There was a company called E strictly foreign, that used to import it, but they've sense close their doors. The company Ludwig is from Germany, and they don't import to the US. please help?
