There's a confusion. Kwek kwek was originally fried old balut (duck egg with a chick) dipped in batter. It's a poor man's snack. The concept was adopted in bars and restaurants but using boiled quail eggs, which is a bit more palatable to many. But the name stuck. An indirect proof: which bird gives a sound close to "kwek-kwek" while still alive?

Thank youuu, Kuya Kurt. This video exemplifies the struggles of a Filipino working in the USA. Local Filipinos here thought that those working in the US are "millionaires" because of what they earn, but in reality, Filipinos struggle on the "food" expenses apart from the many other expenses such as rent, bills, etc. This video shows how much a normal meal would cost. I reckon, 50 dollars is the average Filipino in the US he/she spends on a daily basis.
