Nice, fair review. Liking the black mods, rear valance and exhausts. Am looking at 240s for my parents. I've got a black XE S and I love it. The upgraded infotainment (Incontrol Pro) is much better now after software updates but still slow to start up on occasion, 380w Meridian is great too. Not many other complaints tbh, but could do with switchable exhausts like the F Type. They're coming down in price used now too with 2018MY, can pick one up for about 26K as of Jan 18!

Thanks, they are great cars I can't praise them enough. I wanted the S so badly but they wanted too much for them for me to justify the cost. infotainment and exhaust have been my biggest issues really with mine, so in the grand scheme of things not a bad situation to be in.

For The Drive Hey nice upgrades I have a 17 xe 3.0s AWD recently at around 27k miles installed RaceChip tune and put car at 409 hp from 340 Is that possible without the pulley change

That’s a hell of an increase! I’m no mechanic so I couldn’t say whether that’s optimistic or accurate. I do know that the first thing to do with a supercharger is to change the pulley, but then the ECU will need to be remapped really to compensate.

Looking at getting a 2016 XE R-Sport black, so has the more powerful engine but unfortunately I cannot find one that has the black edition trim, I live in Hampshire, so wondered where you got your black trim done, and how much it cost...also did you look into getting the wheels done too???

I went to Dub Customs based in Essex, but there are plenty of good wrapping companies more locally. I’d visit a few to see what their quality is and prices are as they can vary. I didn’t look into the wheels yet no but I do need to get mine sorted soon! If I do I will update this comment.

Is the maintenance for the car pricey? Is it up there with the bmw and Mercedes? If anyone knows can you let me know because I’m thinking of buying one and I’d appreciate some tips

My first service cost about the £400 mark, which when I looked into buying the car, was comparative to BMW and Mercedes and even Audi. It is a “Premium” brand so they do stick a fair price on labour etc. But I’ve had great service from my dealer and when I want something looking at, the consultation was free.

In the US, you get 5 years / 60 k miles of maintenance included in the price of the car.

Jaguars should not be modified with tatty exhaust and black trim, better off buying a Golf or BMW. Jags should be driven with style and class

I’m old enough. My insurance is very reasonable but age is only one factor that affects it; where you live, how many years no claims, mileage and usage can affect it much more than just age.

I bought a brand new UK-spec 2016 XE-S 3.0 Supercharged but legally rejected it within four months because of the InControl Touch Pro infotainment which simply didn’t work. Constant black screen crashes, not pairing with iPhone, rear camera glitches and general system non response to basic commands. Judging by Jaguar and Range Rover forums, there are STILL problems with this system despite three years of applying software updates to it. Plus, the general build quality was shockingly awful; pitifully thin and easily chipped paint and cheap looking thin leather that was already showing its age after only four months’ use!

+MDH BRONZE it depends what you mean done to them? If you are looking to buy one, spec one as high as you can afford, as Jaguar altering anything after purchase is very pricey! But there are more and more mods appearing for the range of XEs, I have quite a range of little things I want to do.

+MDH BRONZE depends on the route you want to take, there are companies that re map the stock ECU from 240 to 275-280. I’ve found a plug and play chip that will take it up about 292, and if you start changing other parts, you may get more. I’ve deleted rear baffles and upgraded to a BMC air filter and will be getting the 292 chip soon, hoping to see about 300BHP by the end of it. Abover that I’m afraid I haven’t anything to push it further.

You could get the S model, 340Ps on the early ones and easily get over 400bhp with a pulley change and remap.

Going to disagree. From someone who was comparing this to a similar year BMW 3 and 5; I think the interior is better on the Jag than the 3, and worse than the 5. Perfect for an XE; which is a 3 series competitor. Handling is maybe not quite as sharp as the 3 (like 90% as sharp), but is very comfortable and balanced. Ford engine is a little "spunkier" but it's kinda likable other than the turbo lag. Base 4 cyl turbo BMW engine is similar with maybe a little less lag but also less "punch" at the top-end. I'd say it competes well with the Germans of same year. Certainly not "shit".

@@douglas685 haha, bro I have owned a f30 and f10. And the quality is shit compared to both of them. Mine had all kinds of squeaking comming from the interior after 3 years and there was a leak in the boot. Which is ridiculous for a newish luxury sports sedan. But the handling( chassi,steering and suspension) is actually better in the jaguar xe then the 3 series. The xe is more fun to drive, looks way better as well. But the assembly and the wiring on it is a mess.
