I don't think this is true at all. The most recent Panthers to be added to the ring of honor are Peppers, Smitty, and Gross. They were drafted in 2002 and 2003. I'm sure Cam and Luke will be there within the next few years. Luke is also literally on the broadcast team for the Panthers so he's not trying to "bury" players from that era.

Cameron Newton is the Neo of the Carolina Panthers. He got it done, all the way to the Superbowl. Neo's story is bittersweet and very noble, very endearing, full of surprises, just like the life of Cameron Newton. It is because of that, that I am forced to state that the Panthers haven't had true success (no playoffs, not even a winning season) since Newton left! Since Cam left, they had contest between Taylor Heinicke and Kyle Allen, Allen winning. Then, Teddy Bridgewater, and others like PJ Walker, Will Grier, Matt Corral, Sam Darnold, Baker Mayfield and Andy Dalton fill out the post Newton Timeline. None of them have really held the reins to the chariot like One, the Only, Cameron J. Newton! He had the best with him, Luke, Thomas Davis, Greg Olsen, and these types of legends left, were traded or were released shortly after Cameron got injured for "good". Cam came back and had a few games, they won one at least, but it was again, bittersweet, like the Neo Story. He went to the Patriots, and that was something as well. What diehard Panther fan that was attached to the Newton Era doesn't want him to be more involved? They have Thomas Davis, Luke K., and Steve Smith Sr. as Brand Ambassadors, but why can't they connect their legacies into one, and honor the Quarterback that deserves the Carolina Crown? Team Spirit shouldn't die just because Superbowl 50 went the way it did. Does the pride of a Panther override the honor of the Heroes? The Ghost of Neo continues to haunt the Carolina Panthers. Let's see how much more time they need to get a winning season, as defined by the wins outnumber the losses? More people flocked to Charlotte to be around the energy that Cam brought to the city. There's a learning curve to actually playing football on the field, but there really isn't a learning curve for showing respect to franchise legends. This breaks my heart. I was at the Panthers v. Giants game in Munich. There was an NFL store inside the stadium and they sold more Cam Newton jerseys than Bryce Young jerseys. The German fans would've LOVED for you to have been there!

Not a panthers fan, but was such a Cam fan as a kid that I got his jersey and the Under Armour Highlight cleats he wore. He was inspirational and a rare breed of players that was simply bigger, faster, and better than everyone on the field on most sundays.

I was so excited to have him on the Pats but also knew he was set up to fail with the coaching staff in place. Which, respectfully, wasn’t going anywhere just to accommodate Cam as the start of a new era. Some of my early best memories watching the NFL (as a UK fan) were Cam Newton moments, on and off the field.
