I loved seeing Kaikeyi on the shelf behind you. This is my favorite read in the first half of 2024. Thanks for all the new TBR's to add to my list.

You gotta read Never Let Me Go! That last Lady Trent book is wild, can't wait to hear what you think of it. I want to read more by Raja Shehadeh. I am reading The Last Unicorn atm and really enjoying it. Looking fwd to Lonely Castle in the Mirror.

The Last Unicorn is one of my favourite favourite favourite things ever, I watched the movie a million times as a kid and own 4 copies of the novel. Wait, 5.

Just finished The Dark Times! I read all three and def recommend doing it that way. For me it was better than the second installment and almost as good as the first installment.

I've been in a huge slump, just pecking at books here and there. Earlier this year, I was reading a little from craft books about intuitive novel writing that were interesting but I kind of fell off. I'm also reading a short academic book: Folklore Rules: A Fun, Quick, and Useful Introduction to the Field of Academic Folklore Studies by Lynne S. McNeill. It's helping me see folklore in a new light, and it's really fun!

Oh shit you’re right! Why does this feel like some Mandela effect thing?! Did I just accidentally skip the question? 😅 Well, just for you, the biggest disappointments would probably be Tempest of Tea, Study in Drowning, Alebrijes, Adventures of Amina Al-Sirafi, and then two disappointing books I DNF’d were Chlorine and Haldol and Hyacinths.

All my recent reads have been digital as I've been exploring my library's online catalogue. The Giant Days comics kept me company during a recent cold. They're bright, funny, and the humour/antics reminded me a lot of Louise Rennison, so it felt like revisiting an old friend. Around that same time I listened to the entirety of an audio fiction podcast called Midnight Burger, which follows the adventures of a time-travelling, dimension-spanning diner which pops up in a new world each day. It's funny and has found family vibes, like Doctor Who with more adult humour. This in turn led me to finally listen to the Murder-bot audiobooks! I have just finished the first full-length novel, which I didn't love as much as the novellas, but think I will stick with it. I have never really read sci fi, and I'm loving it!
