It's not because he's an accountant that he's acting without emotion. He's been through so much and probably has no one to lean on. He's weathering a silent storm every day. 😢

I hope that he has a network of friends and church fellows that he can rely on heavily at times, so he doesn't have to hold everything up by himself all of the time.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for Omar. Thank you for giving shelter to this man in his hard times. Thank you for strengthening him, and inspiring him to show up in such a brave way for his little girl. May he be abundantly blessed in your Kingdom and may we all be inspired by his heroic actions. May we all have a heart and trust in You, Lord, like he does. In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Tell him in plain English before he ruins the beautiful life he has designed for him and his daughter: He has done everything “right” and now he is on overdrive, going 10,000 miles an hour in his mind, worried about demonstrating absolute parenting perfection and there is no such thing. He has set everything up as perfectly as it can be set up. It’s time to relax and know that he is a competent person who has prepared as well as a human being can and stop competing with all the parents in the world and worrying he can’t grab and hold on to and cram every single opportunity on earth that exists, into his daughter’s piggy bank, in case his daughter wants everything on earth one day. He is an exhausting perfectionist robot who needs to learn how to breathe like a human being. He needs to relax and learn to have fun and not worry about all the credentials and check boxes that don’t really matter anyway. He is exhausting. He needs to get in rhythm with nature, his brain is corporate trained madness.

Idk, i feel like he is wanting to pursue more in his career bc he wants to see how far HE could go(nothing wrong with that) , which is probably what he was intending to do before his wife passed as she would likely have taken up most of the childcare....he's already prepared well for her future. Why not make it clear bc I wasn't sure exactly what he was asking?

Believe me, this girl will be happier living a modest but comfortable life with her dad an active presence in her life than she would if he was working 80 hours weeks and thet were rich but he was absent. I think he's happier, too. I'm glad he didn't also do what many in this situation do and marry the first woman who comes along under the misguided notion that he needs to give the kid a new mom. (And before anyone comes at me here, yes, women do this, too and it's not good on them, either)

A few things for this father to keep in mind is that his daughter is totally dependent on him, now. Most parents, if they love their child or children, will sacrifice so much for them. However, there are no guarantees that when she becomes an adult, becomes financially independent that she will realize his sacrifice, that she will still love him, come home for the holidays or even keep in touch through in person visits, phone calls, letter, cards, emails. There is a high level of estrangement of children when they become adults. She may even resent him for taking her out of her country of birth, her culture at birth. These are aspects to consider. It happens. It rhymes with "it".

Glad he called out Omar for constantly listing "accomplishments." The caller has a weird vibe of grandiosity and fake humility going on. But I don't think he's aware that he comes across as manipulative. There's likely insecurity underneath it. The way he constantly compliments Dr Deloney, it's like he's asking for his absent father's approval.

I really can’t stand it when John brushes aside the hope people truly have in Christ and following Him. Every time this guy quoted a verse John was quick to speak over him and move quickly to something else. When he was sharing how He was given grace for this difficult thing, John basically just bulldozed him and went on to something else. I know John claims to be a Christian, but it’s super weird when he seems to deliberately want to squash any mention of it during these calls.

He’s not Christian that’s why. Neither is Dave Ramsey! You will know them by there fruit. John is of the world. He’s good at probability… most people have issues and he uses the same lines in most of these episodes.

I wouldn't wish this guy on anyone. I don't really feel any love coming through for the little girl. He is just doing right by her financially and with experiences. She will sense the resentment. So very sad.

I think in many ways he is Loving with her, but at times is goal-oriented, and doesn't want to lose what he has. While he could acquire a communication skill or two, and learn to let some things go now and then, this daughter appears to have it pretty good.
