I was using this thing as my daily driver a few years ago. It's fine. The literal ONLY reason it's not viable for the average person is because modern phones have allowed developers to write really really really inefficient apps and webapps. Today I'm running a Galaxy S8 Active. These old phones are still completely usable in a literal sense. And since I'm using only FOSS, everything runs just as snappy on my phone as it would on the latest and greatest.

Thats the story of all tech. Gaming is a great example for messy unfinished code and inefficiency, day one patches and files over 100gb for AAA titles. Having more power is not always a good thing.

iPhone 5s was my first long term iPhone in 2014, I loved this thing so much, such a great phone. One of the best looking iPhones in my opinion 👍🏻

iPhone 5 was the camera I started my channel with a year ago. It’s surprisingly useful if you don’t plan recording 4k videos. It’s great for a beginning KZbin Channel: you can mount it on a budget tripod and use a cheap 3,5mm microphone

I have watched several other videos like this taking a trip down iPhone memory lane. My favorite iPhones of all time have to be the 5S, X, 11 Pro, and 13 Pro. The 5S was such a powerhouse with its new chip on 64 bit architecture. I kept my white 5S for a long time and would still get it out and use it every now and then until I let my son use it and he destroyed it. The iPhone X was just very innovative at the time and so cool to go to a full screen phone with no home button. I still have my iPhone X and plan to hold onto it indefinitely. The 11 Pro stole my heart with the midnight green color even though I don’t traditionally like the color green. There was also just something about those rounded edges of the X-11 series. The iPhone 13 just got me with that Sierra blue color. It was also the most solid phone as far as performance and battery health. My youngest daughter is still daily driving it and the battery has only deteriorated to about 91% now. I have a 15 Pro Max and have offered to trade with her just to get back to a smaller iPhone that is still perfectly functional without having to buy a new one.

Nicely done! I shot video for a few years using an iPod touch 6th gen, which has basically the same camera as the iPhone 5, and it definitely took decent video! iPhones since the iPhone 4 have been pretty great as far as the camera is concerned, but I do remember people people getting very excited over the camera of the 4S because of 1080p and the 8MP sensor!

@@jimcabezola3051 it was extremely strong laser for wood engraving, the video I took while doing has very goofy atmosphere, my friend at first didn’t understand I want him to light up the camera, it ends up with a pretty cool light show with purple and green hues and sparkles that look like stars.

I'm honestly impressed by the video quality of iPhone 5. I use a Galaxy A22 and iPhone 5 records better videos than my phone. My phone does take better photos thanks to the modern photo processing algorithm.

@schvabek To be fair, mine is a budget Samsung. It's a $200 phone, and not even the latest one. It launched in 2021, with the latest one set to release this year; the A26. It's my first phone and I guess it works fine, although once I get on my feet, I will hopefully earn well and upgrade to a flagship phone. I'm in uni and kinda broke to buy stuff myself at the moment

even these older phones are still able to take pretty usable pictures if there is enough light. I love the iPhone 5, easily one of my favorite phones. Mine has a black body and a white screen and these colors look really great together. The only thing I don't like about it is the weight. It's too light. Feels a bit shallow compared to an iPhone 4.

There was one back when I was in grade 7-9 and even then it was on its last breath, it was an oldie. I used to play Clash Royal so much)))))) I traded it for a Samsung galaxy S3 with a box and in perfect condition, and the iPhone I got with a black body and white display with stripes, while it worked well, but then I accidentally dropped it and the display began to live a life of its own, I tried to tape it with high tension tape and it even some time so worked, but then still bought the display, when it became clear that everything is over) then i sold it. And here is the middle of 2024 and I bought it again for $34. American version, from America, even accidentally found a Verizon SIM in the box) In the kit man gave a new case, display and all the attachments, but I do not need it, I like it when it is so shabby, although its condition is even so close to ideal. Now I use it as an alarm clock and sometimes as a detox option to take a break from the main phone).

So, you used the 5S to shoot this video at 1080p? I didnt even notice! In fact my first iPhone (iPhone SE 1st Gen) can shoot 4k video at 30fps and my last iPhone (iPhone X) can shoot videos in 4k 60fps but these both are the only iPhones my dad ever purchased just because whenever the iPhone X dropped to the floor accidentally, its speakers stopped working and the only thing that worked to deliever sound was the earpeice speaker😭
