I recently slept at a hotel and the bed was ridiculously soft. I woke up with pains all over my back. It was so bad that i thought it would be permanent. So now i even sleep on the floor in hotels.😂

I'm glad for those that can utilize this practice and it works for you. I'm not in the physical condition to sleep on the floor. I have a difficult time getting out of my regular bed because of mobility issues. Geting up & down on the floor is no longer something I ccan do without extreme pain and assistance. I did not age well; wish i would have paid more attention to activities in my younger years to assist me now. Back in my younger days we used to go tent camping and slept on the ground with sleeping bags. There's no way I would/could sleep on the hard ground now!

Team No Pillow! But also, not just the cost of a fancy mattress, you also save on the bed frame itself! And then, no more bumping into the corners of the bed! No more stubbed toes!

You’re right about taking your time with it…especially if you’re out of shape, like me! I’ve been floored sleeping for a couple months now, and I agree with everything you shared. I fall asleep faster and sleep more soundly, so when I wake up, I’m up. I don’t have an achy back anymore. I used to always sleep on my side, but on the floor it’s actually comfortable to be on my back. Here’s a tip: if your lower back complains after a bit (I have arthritis in my lower back), use a folded up hand towel to support it. So comfortable! Another thing I notice is how easy it is to take a few deep (belly breathing) breaths when on your back on the floor. So relaxing! Like you, I have given up the pillow for back sleeping, but use one when I lay on my side. But, do take your time getting those muscles in shape! I tried to get up without using hands or other supports too soon (like I would never use my hands because “you’re not supposed to” 😂), and strained my muscles! Oops! Taking my time with it and letting it happen more naturally is working far better. Stay sprightly!

Great video Tasha! The floor of my house gets really cold in the winter so when I tossed my mattress I kept my log bed frame (tho I did cut it smaller width wise) and just put a flat board across the whole thing to make a nice platform. Just a foot or more of height makes it a lot warmer to sleep but I still get the firm floor benefits👍🏻 My room is teeny tiny so I also needed the under the bed storage too😃

Hey Natasha, another fun video, I love your chaotic energy! I had the same problem with the cold floor, and my solution was the cheapest ikea bed, with the firm bed slat, the one made from straight planks, not the bouncy one. excuse my lack of proper english words :D anyway, that way I got off the floor, was warm, and my matress also was able to breathe and I didn't have to worry about air circulation. I had to buy two slats though, to make the spaces between single planks smaller so I wouldn't feel them through the mattress :D hope this helps! :)

That video from Mike influenced countless ppl cause that’s where I got the idea too😂 and then your previous vid led to me going through with it. A month later and yea I love the floor I truly do! I’ve been sleepin on a tatami mat with a shikibuton on top. Not gonna act like all my back pain is gone cause it’s absolutely not but I sleep better, I feel more energized and I feel more mobile. I feel like it’s going to be a LONG process to my pain going away but I’m certainly making progress and I love the floor!

Sleeping on the Floor is awesome. Best sleep ever. I also use sm tables, so I have to get up and down. My legs became stronger and I became more flexible. Life is so much more Joyful 🥰

I'm floor sleeping rn and I love it! My hips are still a bit stiff in the morning but the majority of my back pain is gone. Staying in an AirBnb for a month next month and dreading the normal mattress XD

I've always liked sleeping closer to the floor. It probably started with monsters under the bed, no sense giving them nice hiding spaces. The floor around the bed becomes a table, the space between bed and mattress a perfect nook for books or to keep a drink from getting knocked over. With pillows the bed becomes and lounger. I like standing for work, not lounging, easier to move my body in more ways while standing for long periods. I naturally wiggle a lot anyways, so I don't get the problems a lot of people get from standing still too long. Still, a good reclining chair or a rocking chair can be nice too.

I can agree with you that it’s cooler when you sleep on the floor. Also, if you’re a guy that sleeps hot that cool air helps regulate the hot body temp, it’s amazing sleeping like a baby on a floor 😆 my mother sleeps on the floor and for the winter she covers herself with a “Mexican blanket.” It’s just a thick blanket that one can buy at a local Mexican store 😆 lastly on if you stretch yourself out on the floor, if you’re not sleeping, even in odd shapes you can crack your joints, back and neck, it feels amazing afterwards. I crack my neck by laying face up, turn my head as if I’m looking to one of my sides and slowly move my head towards the top of my head (or the 12 o’clock position, if your head was a clock).

I love everything about this comment LOL. ALSO, I think I am familiar with these Mexican blankets, or something similar, they are like thicker and heavier and have colorful patterns. Are they fuzzy? My mom has a couple that are like floral, heavy, and fuzzy. Not sure if it's the same kind as what you are talking about though HAHAHAHAHA.

HAHAHAHAHA awesome!!! They are the best. I first experienced then when I visited Cali, my husband's mom gave me one to bring home on the plane (she probably got it from a Mexican store) and it BARELY fit into the carryon compartment on the plane LOLLL. and then, I gave it to my mom and she's had it for 15 years now hahahaha.

I, too, finally use the handmade “mexican blankets” which I inherited from my grandparents now that I sleep on the floor. They either go over me or under me for a little more insulation against the cold, which they’re perfect for since they’re not soft and they’re airy.

Did you ever get pains in your hip bones from lying on your side? I had that problem when I lived in Japan, had to add extra padding underneath the futon coz I’d get bruises on my hips…
@natashatheresa
@natashatheresa 3 сағат бұрын
oh no! I haven't experienced that! well... my hip bones were kinda sore the first couple of weeks, but now I am comfortable sleeping either on my back or on my side.

It’ll depend on your age and how your pelvic fat is distributed, but all I had to do was turn a little more on my belly and change my hip angle to be comfortable. I’m a side sleeper so I was worried about that too. It makes me alternate between side and back through the night while I sleep.
