FDA's own research showed smoking two Premium Cigars a day have zero negative impact on health and monograph 9 shows that people who do actually live longer than people who don't smoke at all. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

It was only correlation, and the study states that very clearly (i.e. no empirical evidence to back up the summary.). But absolutely the ritual and relaxation that comes with cigars is good for the mind (and even more so with tobacco pipes). This is likely a benefit over whatever potential health hazards come from infrequent cigar smoking.

Also, and more telling, life insurance actuarries, perhaps the most in depth and accurate view on such things, show 5 cigars a day have no negative effects compared to a baseline non-smoker

@@oliverraahauge google monograph 9. Under the Cancer institute's website. One researcher with a doctorate quit over it because the opinion piece did not reflect the science. The FDA wanted this to say tobacco bad, FDA need taxes. Yes caveman style. Look up TCA are cigars bad for you, he was on the show and exposed a lot of nonsense. There was also a study released recently that studied the effects of nicotine on the cells of rats and found some very compelling evidence that supports some of the findings in Monograph 9.

Thanks for sharing! As a cigar lover myself, this is very encouraging. The FDA here in the states had a study done last year, and found no health impact from smoking 2 cigars a day.

I think there's an argument to be made that moderate cigar smoking can actually be good for your mental health. Cigars for me are a very relaxing activity, a kind of meditation in a way... and with stress being a large factor in many negative health issues I think being able to reduce it is a big positive.

It seems to me that people overlook alcohol when it comes to mouth and throat cancer. Processed food is another cancer causing thing overlooked. I have been smoking cigars for years now, with occasionally chewing and dipping which I know aren't good for me but it's not habitual. I find smoking cigars has actually calmed me down and stress is a big factor in a lot of health problems. I think people should let adults make their own choices and stay out of other people's business. Enjoy your smokes!

Precisely I read a report ok one report from one dentist so hardly comprehensive or conclusive, but, Despite having several patients who are cigar and pipe smokers, he had I 20 years of practice only come across 5 cases of mouth cancer, none of which were cigar or pipe smokers, but all heavy cigarette smokers and heavy drinkers. I unfortunately smoke all three, and although not heavy, I am a regular whiskey drinker, so I screwed. But while you will get no argument from me about the stupidly and health risks of cigarettes pipe tobacco and premium and I stress, premium cigars do not as one comment claims have the same chemical profile of cigarettes. Now, yes, they contain tar and ammonia and several other chemicals found in tobacco they do not have additives except for aromatic pipe tobacco, which have food grade additives. Of course, I'm not suggesting that either are risk-free or would count as part of your 5 a day. Also while you don't in general ( I'm sure there are some that do) inhale if you smoke indoors you are passive smoking. But that said I believe that the many health benifits both to your physical and mental health and well being far far out way the risks. But even if I wrong and talking out my hat I you've done the research and made an informed choice, it's a free world so have at it.

I think we should do away with the word "smoking" as it pertains to cigars. If you sip a wine, and then spit it out, have you really drunk it? No. If you draw on a cigar and then you exhale it out, have you really smoked it? No. I enjoy 2 or 3 a day and the worst thing is the browning of teeth.

Hello, I’ve been smoking cigars for about 20 years. I just had a yearly physical this month (October) and like you I have a clean bill of health. A cigarette is homogenized tobacco with several chemicals added to it. A premium cigar is tobacco leaves cut from plants then stored in a barn etc etc. and as you stated we do not inhale the smoke. I’m sure these ignorant people hating on you do not have a clue what a premium cigar is. I’m sure these folks do not drink distilled water, eat organic fruit and vegetables or eat only grass fed beef all the time. Or wear hats whenever outdoors. I smoke a cigar once a month and sometimes I go months without smoking a cigar. What I think it’s interesting is that people that have criticized me for smoking do drink a few pints on a weekly basis. I guess is ok to damage your liver…Stay lit sister girl.

Had been smoking cigars for about a year or a little longer and I love the hobby. Or loved the hobby. About 5 months in, I started to notice little palpitations in my chest. And then this march, I went down with a full on classic heart attack symptoms including a bad heart burn, chest pain, feeling as though an elephant is sitting on my chest, dizziness, and breathlessness. Did not visit the doctor cuz I'm in the U.S. uninsured. Looking back, it may not have been a full on heart attack episode since I made it through alive, but the symptoms are still persisting, though at a significantly lower severity than this March. I wake up with rushing heart beat every night and morning, come down with dizziness, and occasional palpitations that feel like its the last heart beat of my life. Turns out that my grandfather was on a pacemaker in his last few decades cuz of some heart issues and I may have the gene for weaker or defective heart than normal. So cigars are great and I am fully aware of the fact that it is way safer than cigarettes and are smoked way less often, but I'd advise anyone who has a family member with any heart issues to stay away from cigars all together. Even though you do not get any smoke in your lungs, you still are getting decent amount of nicotine from cigars, that can still do damage to your cardio vascular system and the heart so. Do it at your own risk. I took my chances and I'm paying the price now. So if anyone had not started, at least ask your family members whether there is anyone with genetic heart defects or weaknesses. And all of this maybe stress induced, cuz my mother was hospitalized end of last year for some unknown and sudden amnesia and vomiting, I'm still paying my mother's hospital bill for her hospitalization last year, and my beloved 13 year old cat passed suddenly this March which is when all the real serious symptoms kicked in. But my heart may have been fine had I not picked up cigars prior , so even though not as dangerous as cigarettes, cigars aren't risk free so do it at your own risk people.

@@Reggie_Noble No more than one cigar per day, and it wasn't even everyday. There was about 25 day period where I smoked one cigar every day, but cut it down to one cigar every other day or 3 per week after that. And had been doing 1 per week for the last 3 or 4 months or so. So nowhere near excessive. And I'm only a 33 YO male with healthy body weight. Not as active as I should be but still no where near over weight. Only BMI of about 20 or less.

Smoking once a month is probably not significant in terms of health impact, but I hope that people who do smoke regularly and see this video don't get the wrong idea and assume that regular smoking isn't dangerous. Once or twice a month isn't regular at all, and I'm supportive of this kind of hobby, as long as people practice it in moderation like she does. Im happy that she is advocating for people to have healthy lifestyles, even those that include non-regular cigar use, which people absolutely do overreact to.

Agreed! Though hot take, one I may cover another point on my channel - I think we get into an ethical grey area when we start treating adults like babies who don’t know what’s good for them (infringing on their rights to life, liberty and happiness etc). I’ve found the cigar demographic to be quite discerning and tuned into the risks, though even if they smoked like a chimney they should have a right to it, especially if they understand the potential risks to their health. Though I highly doubt the average smoker is chain smoking stogies like Winston Churchill!

Nothing at all wrong with regular smoking. The Surgeon General released a study in the 60s that showed men who smoked a pipe and don't inhale (up to 10 bowls a day) lived 3 years longer than non-smokers. Those who did inhale lived the same as non-smokers. Cigarettes will kill you but cigars and pipes are fine. Even good for you if you're male as nicotine boosts testosterone in men (doesn't seem to affect women much). Testosterone makes you less agreeable and harder to govern, which is the real reason they want to ban smoking. Smoke slowly, don't overheat your mouth and you'll be fine. Also don't smoke if you have an oral injury, and most importantly don't drink alcohol while smoking.

I never was a cigarette smoker, I've only smoked one couple times. But I was always into tobacco aroma. I like snuff, but I don't use it often. Recently I got interested in cigars. As for the health aspect, I think there's a big risk of mouth and throat cancer. It's just a risk that a smoker needs to accept. It also depends on the frequency of exposure to the carcinogenic substances. I think smoking one cigar during the weekend might be a hobby, smoking one every day is already a substantial health risk. Above all, I don't think it is worth to smoke if it makes you addicted or very worried about health.

@@MELLONCELLO "a total stranger suddenly cares deeply about my health" I don't think they wrote that. They gave an opinion about cigars vs. health, and then said they hope you don't get sick (cancer). I mean, I guess if every comment has to be considered sarcastic as the first thing before anything else, then perhaps you're right. But it is text - there are no vocal inflections or body language to go with. Therefore, my opinion would be to take the person's words verbatim.

@@Jcole000123 A few things: #1. I subscribed to this channel months ago, because of the cigar-related content. #2. I smoke cigars and pipes. #3. "No one looks cool with a pipe!". I disagree: - Aragorm in LOTR - Arnold Schwarzenegger. - Christoph Waltz - Leonard Cohen - Dr. Seuss. - Gerald Ford - Bing Crosby - Vincent Price - etc. - etc. - etc. #4. "Cigars smell better taste better" : Now that statement is absolute nonsense. The variety of pipe tobacco covers everything from the robust cigar style to the very aromatic. In fact, quite a few cigar companies produce pipe tobacco, including mid-tier such as Aston, and high-end-tier such as Davidoff.

How did i just come across this channel? YT (rightfully) feeds me cigar content almost exclusively and it took 2 years to feed me your channel? 😮 Notably, while the FDA resesrch shows 2 cigars a day have no deleterious health effects, life insurance actuarries, much more accuratr, in depth and reliable, show 5 cigars a day have no negative health effects when compared to a baseline non-smoker. The bottom line, while one couldn't say cigars are 'healthy', it is decidely wrong to suggest they are unhealthy. Cigarettes are contain up to thousands of ingredients, and are inhaled into the lungs, cigars contain 2 (black air cured tobacco and fruit pectin used to hold the cap on) and are not inhaled. The relation of cigars and cigarettes are like that of steak and hotdogs, sure both may be said to be meat, but they aren't even in the same catrgory in reality.
