That's easy to say when you're not ugly. I don't like what she chose to do because it's not my preferred aesthetic but I will fight for her right to get it. I've seen too many examples of good quality, natural looking plastic surgery to place any value on being unaltered. People like placing arbitrary lines on that kind of stuff. Some are against makeup and hair dye, others against shape wear, others against aesthetic dental work or fillers. "but plastic surgery is different because it's permanent", well so is a lot of other stuff people do to themselves so it really is just an arbitrary line. Common reasons people usually use to justify their dislike of plastic surgery are "it's cheating" (they are concerned about their own place on the looks hierarchy so it's purely their insecurity), "it's destroying your heritage" (selfishly forcing others to continue the hump nose that runs in the family) and "it leads to plastic surgery addicts" (this doesn't happen in the large majority of cases, we only get to see the worst ones so it looks like there are a lot more than there are. Selection bias leads to a distorted view).

How is this self care? I guess we all have different ideas of it, but personally I wouldn’t want to spend half my life in a surgery or treatment. Self care isn’t remaking yourself from scratch, it’s finding which aspects your shine in most, and to follow through with that. After spending all that, you just would want to feel good because of how much you sacrificed. I used to live in a high rise in Brickell and there were cafes and coffee places on the ground floor. Every morning for like a year me and the pops would sit down there and sip cafe cubano and watch the fashion show that was women who looked just like them going to the L or getting picked up by their drivers. She’s quite sensible with her views on art/ sobriety. I don’t like her style. I’d personally rather not have loads of unnecessary surgery (because real medical surgery SUCKS. I’m not volunteering for something I don’t technically need) and if I had her makeup on. You know I’d be sat there running my nail through the layers. Having said that. If she stopped trying to go for “perfect” and maintained what she has I’d be thrilled for her. It’s when people get hooked and end up botched that I feel so sad for them. She doesn’t effect me. I have mixed feelings when it comes plastic surgery. Personally, I wouldn’t. However, I don’t have a problem with other people doing it. It’s their body and money. I do agree that skincare is self-care though.
