Nice ..I had the same problem with my older DAC...I ended up getting the Sparkos 3601's..way EZ'er with the Sparkos.

@@ericgonzales854 yes indeed …sparkos.. I am aware of these incredible little Opamps… but I may go with a Denafrips DAC in 2025 focused on room acoustic treatment at the moment. Regards KCB.

I put aSS3602 in my R2R DAC. It transformed the sound and far surpassed several other opamps I auditioned.

What is the improvement in the op amps? Were the old ones not as well matched to the other components? Do they get old? The failure rate could be expected to be higher with new electronic components -- you know, burn-in, infant-mortality and all that electronics BS.

If your application demands the highest audio quality, low distortion, and minimal noise interference, the LM4562 is a better choice. It excels in premium audio equipment like high-end preamplifiers, DACs, and headphone amplifiers & it has a cleaner & more accurate sound than the NE5532, in my opinion, so it's an upgrade for me, but maybe not for you if you don't like that sound, thanks for commenting & watching 👍

Not an upgrade -- it's a "sidegrade" that results in a minuscule change (if any) that folks tend to decide is an improvement due to confirmation bias. There's nothing wrong with the elderly NE5532 -- most of the recordings released over the past couple of decades involved mixing desks from top makers like Studer with dozens of them in the signal path. Such "op-amp rolling" exercises are definitely a waste of time and effort IMO -- but of course YMMV, 'cuz tweakers gotta tweak!

I would agree with you, it's a sideward step, to a certain degree, personally I prefer the sound of the LM4562 over the NE5532, although you're right it is subtle, but most improvements are subtle, thanks for commenting & watching 👍
