How on earth is this. Me I almost pack them for winter and you guys start the season. Hahahahhaa. Is good. Honey should be flowing all the year. From northern hemisphere or from southern hemisphere. No matter. …honey to be ! Wish you a good year mate !

I like the way you feed your bees, they started selling bags of sugar water here, but why buy when its so cheap to make your own. Thanks for the video.

It’s my first time trying it. And apart from the plastic I’m pretty happy with how it worked out.

I only run 8 framers at home, I winter with two boxes, very early spring I remove the bottom box because they have all moved up where the heat is and the bottom boxes are empty and are good to remove. I lower the old top box to the bottom position, I then add a new box to the top, and close the hive. This allows me to rotate out old brood comb because it can't be any older than two years old.

Is there a reason that the brood comb can’t be older than two years old mate?
@sentimentalbloke7586Ай бұрын
@@ThePozum Brood comb gets cocoon and propalis build up and turns black, it harbours disease and must be switched out after several rounds of brood, the bees will soon reject it anyways and if there is nowhere for them to move to they will simply move out (abscond). We try to avoid this by switching out one box at a time every year, there being only two boxes in the brood chamber, then the excluder, then honey supers (mine full deeps). Honey supers don't get cocoons or propalised so they can last much longer if you choose, and they can be melted down to produce good foundation wax, I don't bother with brood comb other than sticking it in a black garbag in the sun with a hole in the lower corner. and a pot to catch the wax, but you get hardly any and it is really not worth bothering.

Great to see you back and that the Whayt hive is rocking! Where those empty feeder bags and pollen patties from the end of last season?
@aussiebeekeepingАй бұрын
I knew you would like that. :) they were from the week prior. I’ve decided to use some of Ian Steppers trick this years to boost my honey crop. Fingers crossed.

Ive not seen that way of feeding syrup im keen to give that a go!

It works a treat. Well worth a go. Make sure you get backs with double lock though. I had one open up while sitting on the ground.

G,day mate I’m in central west NSW and I’m almost ready to take my first honey crop off my boxes now almost full of honey , they are bringing in plenty nectar and pollen , a couple of hives had their lids stuck down with honey comb so mine are going very strong , thanks for sharing your video , it’s very nice to see your bees are going very nicely , I never fed my bees here I just leave plenty honey on them over the winter and they do very well , looking forward to seeing more bee hive videos.👍
