Fellow watch nerd here, just wanted to point out that 5 ATM water resistant is not much. Contrary to common belief, 50m WR watch does not mean it can be taken to water depth of 50 meters. With 50m WR the "watch can withstand splashes, shower and is suitable for swimming. It is not suitable for water sports, pool-side diving or sea diving." I wouldn't go near water with a watch unless it is at least 100m WR. So I wouldn't recommend take this watch near water. It looks like water can easily go inside via the crown or button.

Honestly if all you are going to do is use it for fitness tracking i think a fitness band would be a Better option Unless you are a professional athlete or a coach and precision like GPS tracking is EXTREMELY important in your field of work I think a fitness band is just fine for day to day use like phone notifs and call recieving. Fitness bands also tend to have great Battery life (about 3-4 days on a single charge) and they are much cheaper than smartwatches

As someone who wears wristwatches (non-smart variety) regularly, I will warn that you should NEVER take water resistance rating at face value. This is more what you can expect from each water resistance rating. 30m = ok for rain and hand washing 50m = occasional shallow swimming 100m = fine for regular swimming 200m+ = ok for diving

I've had a Galaxy Watch Active 2 for a couple years, and still haven't seen anything that I feel the need to upgrade up to yet. One, I'm lazy so the fitness tracking isn't important to me. Two, I love the insane amount of watch faces on the Galaxy store. And three, I use the alarms feature with silent vibrations during my work day as a teacher to keep track of classes. And I got the thing for less than 200 bucks. All in all, it's working perfectly doing all these still, so until the battery starts dying on me in less than a day, I think I'm sticking with it for a while longer.

Yep, same here except I do use the fitness tracking features but they work well enough for me. As long as the battery last at least 24 hours I'm good. I also love the pink color and I don't think there's any other watch with that color right now, not even from Samsung themselves.

5 ATM means that a watch can withstand a pressure of 5 bar or a water column of 50 meters. In practice, this corresponds to the pressure of a flowing water jet when washing hands, showering or bathing. 5 ATM does not mean that a watch is waterproof to a depth of 50 meters, but that it can withstand the pressure of a water column of 50 meters. Because when swimming, the swimming movements can cause pressure peaks that are much higher than 5 bar. Due to these pressure peaks, only watches with the designation 10 ATM or higher are suitable for swimming.

I used to have a fitbit inspire, then switched to a G-Shock. I then realised that smart watches aren't really for me, as you need to charge them and have it constantly connected to your phone for it to not loose track of time. So an atomic solar G-Shock was definitely amazing.

@9:37 "one atmosphere is just like sea level" - no, in the context of diving 1ATM is a depth of 10m, and in the context of mechanical seals, 1ATM is 1 *incremental* atmoshpere of pressure, so at sea level that's *2* *bar.*

8:49 that battery life is ridiculous. My 130 Euro Huawei watch fit 2 has 7 to 10 days battery in normal use and daily 1:30h sport runs with GPS, heart tracking and music. I think harmonyOS is impressive when it comes to how optimized and lightweight it is. I tried restarting my watch out of curiosity and took like 10s compared to a much longer time with my old Ticwatch C2+(wearOS)

I just can't do any of these wearables. These things need to be super, super frictionless. These are too big and the required time between charges too small. You need to have a band that you never take off. Just sleep with it and shower with it as an option. These are the absolute necessary requirements: 1) Width needs to be absolutely less than 1 inch or 25 mm _(includes any band)_. 21-23 is probably optimal for comfort and large readable text. 2) Time between charges needs to be absolutely more than 1 week. Absolutely bare minimum. Preferably 2-4 weeks. 3) Can survive a shower and being underwater up to 10 ft. Don't want to care what kind of water and where I put it. Highly recommended but not absolutely necessary: A) Some physically easy thing to latch on for turning off _(not snooze)_ a vibrating alarm. Purely flat surfaces suck. The depression on the MiBand 3 is good. Tiny bumps or other protuberance would work too. B) Different types of bands that accommodate tons of wrist sizes, including children. C) Wide variety of faces so you can customize + fit your style Of course the normal stuff like ability to ping friends _(buzz their wrist),_ sleep insights exercise, heart rate + SpO2 data is great and expected too. Just those above things are what I think would really drive it home for most people.

We don't need these devices to adhere to traditional watch styles. The thin pebble form factor fits our wrists better anyway.

6:13 I've been daily driving a Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 for around 6 months now, I've only ever had/used the Galaxy Wearable app. Not sure what he means, unless he's talking about third-party apps you can get to make custom watch faces or something but I wouldn't count those. If he's talking about Samsung Health, that's already on any Samsung phones so it wasn't an extraneous download.
