“I’ve wanted this drop for YEARS!!” | First Descent Pe’epe’e Falls

Though I’ve done a number of trips to Hawaii, and gotten numerous first descents on the Big Island, there was still one drop that I just kept missing. Pe’epe’e falls, a perfect 70ft drop. There were always just a few factors that kept stopping us from being able to get this perfect drop. But this was the year that everything FINALLY came together, and it was just another glorious day of sending!

It's really too bad that WW kayaking is a fairly small sport. Lots of the channels I come across only have a couple of hundred subs. You're rocking it at 58K, but should really be at least 200K, because you are really awesome at what you do. I never ran anything harder than class 4, and even that is plenty of adrenaline. You are on a level that's just out of this world. I want to say insane, but that's the wrong word, because I know it's all quite calculated. I like the way you showed that at the start of this vid.

To me it seems to be thriving. Back in my day there weren't many of us at all. I was one of only five or six women nationwide who was involved in WW/BW. Now I see many women out there doing their thing, and definitely more people running the crazy stuff I used to do back in the '50's and 60's. Of course we always want to see our sport grow, but remember, if it grows too much the rivers will become congested, and getting speared by another boat will become more likely than getting sucked into a massive foam hole at flood stage. Pig boats hauling carp (rafts full of tourists) are already a plague on some rivers. Love it, and bring others who will also love it into it, but hope it never goes as big rush hour in LA.
