It’s always sad when a trip comes to an end. But when you get the chance to finish it off with another dope day at prime flows, it makes it easier. After one of the best Hawaii trips yet, we finished it off with the classic section, while including in one more stout. The perfect finish to an all time trip.

You make it look so smooth and easy. I guess that’s what 100,000 hours in the water will do for your skills.

Totally love the pink kayak but if you are going to grab another color, orange definitely looks sweet on the water along with your dry top. Love the enthusiasm you always bring. Thanks for taking us along and giving us the views most of us will never get to experience.

Thank you for sharing! That Wailuku certainly looks like a fun run, but did you guys also run other rivers while you were in Hawaii those two weeks?

So why do you throw your paddle versus pulling to your side in line with they kayak as you bend over? I have seen it done both ways and I just want to know for the day o can finally hit one my self.

Both are great. There are lots of waterfalls that you need to hold onto your paddle to deal with whatever is after it. Throwing your paddle can be nice because you don’t have to worry about breaking your paddle. Plus sometimes it’s nice being able to wait longer before throwing. Many people throw because they feel holding onto their paddle pulls on your shoulders more although I haven’t noticed that.

Hadn’t paddled a creekboat in so long so I thought it would be fun to take it out, since it was just sitting there.

To get a rough estimate of height you just need a rock and a stopwatch. h=(1/2)gt^2, where h is height in meters, g is acceleration due to gravity (9.81m/s/s) and t is time in seconds. Then you have to convert meters to feet if that's the unit you want.

Yeah but it’s really hard to get the time down right. The amount of error you get is way to big.

@@twanlange2827 Ha ha ha, no bigger than hanging what are not exactly 70 foot throw ropes over the edge and using arm span as your unit of measurement. And using a stopwatch that's built into your phone is a lot less effort. You take multiple attempts (e.g. 5) and use the average time, it's science.
