I just tried my first pair of barefoot shoes the other week and I'm loving it. I didn't realize how much I enjoyed the feeling of my feet on the earth. The ability to actually feel rocks or anything on the ground, I don't know why but I love it. Wearing normal shoes now feels strange to me. I went into this looking for a good shoe to walk in and I think I found it; though I do have to add that keeping around a normal shoe is a great idea. I have definitely already had the feeling of dreading a walk home with these shoes.

Vivobarefoot is actually considered narrow compared to other barefoot shoes brands. Seeing your foot shape, Vivo is actually too narrow for your toe splay. You can try Saguaro, pretty wide toe box and pretty affordable.
@melt98637 ай бұрын
the sizing on Saguaro varies too much. It’s hard to find a size that fits as it should.

@@melt9863 They finally started to list the width, at least on Amazon, for the Luck 1 style. So far I’ve tried the Luck 1 and the rain boots. The sizing of these two styles are consistent with Vivo or Be Lenka. I haven’t tried their athletic styles.

I use saguaro for casual and vivo for hiking (because of the higher quality and materials). Saguaro is very comfortable but I have to buy a new pair every 6 months, not a big deal since they're way more affordable

Haha, my first pair of barefoots were exactly same orange knit primuses. Can totally confirm every word. I wear barefoots exclusively for about 2 years, it took me about 3 months before I even started trying to run in them, a few hunderd meters at a time at first, but since about month 6 of adapting, I now run in them every day. Recently did a half marathon with zero problems. One piece of advice I could give is try to relearn walking, to step on forefoot instead of heelstriking. For me, it felt really unnatural at first, but i persisted and after a few weeks it became a second nature. Starts to feel really weird to hit the heel at all, when instead you can step softly. Also, it will improve your calves, ankles and feet and prepare them to endure longer runs.

FYI These days in the category of sock-shoes, there are Skinners. Their 2.0 version has quite a wide toe"box". I can walk very long distances in them but they're not an every day all day shoe mostly because they get quite sweaty. They do offer significantly more freedom of movement than Vivobarefoots. Also, another much cheaper brand of barefoot shoes I've found to be worth the trouble Freet.
@Amadeusz908 ай бұрын
I've managed to buy Primus Lite III for heavily discounted price, and absolutely agree with every sentiment - they are comfy, you feel a lot of additional sensations when walking (it is more "involved" in a way?) and they're so good for gym and driving a car (throttle/clutch control is great in those). With that being said, they are crazy expensive where I live, cost nearly as much high end running shoes and I managed to almost chew through the sole in just a single year. I'll have to find a cheaper alternative now that the discount is gone I guess.

For running, I find Altras are worthwhile, as they are cushioned but still have wide toebox, decent flex and (at least some models) 0 drop. For everyday, yep, vivos are where it's at; except for winter/snow/ice; the Vivo soles are extremely slippy on ice.

Thats interesting to know, I have always been a high bar squatter. But I seem to have good ankle mobility so haven't had any issues wearing these shoes. But I do feel like I would lift more weight if I tried them.

The wide toe box was what drew me towards barefoot shoes. I've always worn as minimal footwear as it was possible and practical in our northern European climate, and I'm always barefoot at home. At the age of 45 I still haven't earned a single bunion, and my toes are pretty spaced out, so I found a lot of shoes uncomfortable. I thought that was because my feet were somewhat abnormal, so I was shocked to discover that it's the other way round - most shoes are uncomfortable because my feet are normal 😂 Additional bonus is that the anatomically shaped footwear keeps its shape on my feet and looks better. Other shoes adapt to my feet by losing their shape and original aesthetics.

@@kneecapjake its a good product from certain theoretical perspectives, and not from others. you are a fitness influencer gymbro lifter allround health and wellness person, or something to that effect. my algorithm is tuned to this because google has decided that this is the personality that I have as well. this does not mean that there isnt a world outside of this bubble. lionel messi has insured his left leg for 900 million USD, and his foot is crammed into a narrow shaped shoe.

You must likely 'subluxed' one of your metatarsals. That's the injury's name that'll make you limp when fatigued in barefoot shoes. I've done it a couple times, but still, overall the benefits exceed the negatives. I got my first pair of Vivos in 2016 and have since fully transitioned to barefoot shoes. For the last 3+ years I've only worn barefoot shoes exclusively. One thing people think is that they're a lot more expensive. The thing is they get a lot more milage than cushioned shoes as the cushions in shoes compres and wear out much faster than shoes with no cushion to compress. You can get 5000 miles out of a pair of barefoots pending no other damage to the materials on things like the upper etc. And Revivo care restore your shoes for a fee, which I think is awesome.
@kneecapjake7 ай бұрын
That's a good point. I haven't looked into Revivo. It might be worth getting my older pair looked at. Luckily I haven't had that limping recently. I started running 5K in barefoot shoes and my feet seem to be working just fun with no pain :D

I guess that, since you are quite fit, it is perfectly fine and you are used to. But for someone who is not, probably deadlifting with barefoot shoes is better to be avoided at first. I think you charge your knee and other parts of your body much more.
