“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” -James 4:8 You probably could reject his presence, but why would you? : ) I also get "slain in the spirit" when I am worshiping God or sometimes I just feel him like that pressure when I am being still at home. I crave God drawing near, so I try to stay in his presence even doing the boring tasks of life but when that kind of presence of God hits you pause and surrender. Due to the fact that I don't go to a "Charismatic church" people have thought that I have fallen asleep in prayer, but really that peace just felts sooo good that I didn't want to reject him and his willingness to let me feel his (physical?) presence or whatever that is! I heard it explained this way, God doesn't give us goose bumps or make us laugh in the Spirit, our fleshes reaction to the Holy Spirit does that, we can control it, but why would you want to? I still don't understand how being slain in the Spirit or "laid out under the power of God" works but I love it when it happens and I pray that God brings this back into even the most mondain of churches. The quakers (during the Great Awakening) were called the quakers because they waited on the presence of the Lord in repentant silence and unity and when he came they shook! The revival (or 4th and greatest awaking) starts in our homes as we show our kids the goodness of God and contrast of his divine clarity verses the foolishness of this world's lies.

Well when David and crew were in Kansas City in June, I was hit twice by the power of the Holy Spirit, a warm, peaceful heavy blanket that knocked me down. they picked me up after a bit and I got a second dose. I went right down. When I got up, I felt clean inside. It is the power of God. It absolutely is. Right before that, God had healed my neck and back and hip that had been plaguing me on and off for 20 years. And when they picked me up the second time, I asked God to heal decades of allergies...and I am healed. Praise God! I had asked God before I went there, for a prophetic word. David even gave me that at the end of the conference, and God pulled me up on stage as well. He loves us so much and He will provide for our healing when we have faith. We had many altar calls for ppl to come forward to pray for salvation. Many altar calls in the evening to seek God in regards to the teaching. Would have evening opened altar to come forward and pray for one another. The pastor would walk around and be praying for us as we prayed. God does protect us, that's a sweet story. Made me think that maybe there is a reason the people of the Old Testament laid face down before the Lord. 🙃Why do we try to stand in his presence when we know his presence could knock us down? More importantly if they used to repent, wash themselves as if in a baptism, and take off their dirty shoes, and bow down in expectation and as a symbol of respect, why don't we? Actually asking and just thought of all that now. I know sometimes we don't know, but I think some people miss that God doesn't need to drop them from standing to the floor they could start out kneeling or laying like they seemingly used to. I fell from standing the first time, but after that his presence often came as I sat or laid down and honestly no one would have noticed, some have even thought I just feel asleep in prayer. People used to claim Prophetess Tubman (read the very old "Harriet the Moses of her People" 1869) was often sleeping, but I believe she was actually deep in prayer based on the first hand accounts of what that looked like and how it was often tied to revelation from the Lord.

👍 *Thank you for sharing this video with us Troy.* Because I was raised in a conservative church that believed the LIES that the baptism of the Holy Spirit, tongues, and outward expressions of worship is not for today I tend to view the "slain in the spirit" experience with suspicion. I can't say that I have read about it in the Bible or I would be more open to it. Sometimes when I see people being prayed for I see them being pushed and that looks fake to me. The term "courtesy drop" I have heard before. Lol When I am prayed for, I do not want to fall down just because of *religious peer pressure.* But, two Sundays ago I saw one woman being prayed for and she just cried out very loud and after being prayed for some more fell backwards to the ground. She is a person who is not outwardly dramatic so I believe this was genuine, just like your experience. She later told my friend that the Lord had really touched her. I plan to ask her about her experience to ask her about what happened. Maybe being slain in the spirit will happen to me one day. But, I don't want to pretend to have this experience just because everyone else around me is falling down, otherwise I would be fake and a liar. Thanks for sharing that! I've been in charismatic churches for over 40 years, and have done time on the floor. I've never heard of anyone getting hurt from falling on the ground when it's Holy Spirit putting them there. Funny story -- I attended a Kathryn Kuhlman service at the Hollywood Palladium when I was a college student in the early 70's. One of her young assistants who was helping catch people was brushed by one of her flowing sleeves, and immediately fell to the floor. I don't think he was expecting it! I have also been in a service where the visiting evangelist prayed for us at the end. He put his hand on my forehead while praying, and pushed hard! Others had already ended up falling, and I have no problem with that, unless it's a person doing the pushing. He tried with all his might, but even though I'm only 5' tall, I'm stubborn & he couldn't do it. I think he would have used both hands if he hadn't figured that would make it a little obvious that it was him doing the pushing! I pushed back with my head (not a good idea for a migraine sufferer, haha!) This was probably 30 years ago, so I don't really recall, but he was probably praying that I would submit to The Lord! I think I had to brace myself with m feet so I wouldn't face-plant when he finally let up. I love the term "courtesy fall", which I hadn't heard before, but I guess he picked the wrong person to expect that from... 😂

I like your honesty, seriously, I love it! I was a charismatic catholic in my country and there was no one to catch anybody. You just heard a huge boom. No one ever wake up(?) or stand up with an injury or pain. Maybe because we were Catholics, maybe because we were Hispanics. I don't know. then, we move here. no catholic charismatic church, well, non denominational that put the Holy Spirit high, and no boom, just a lot of ushers or ministers to catch people. Yes, you are right. it felts like a weight: front the top, from the front or on your knees. and while on the floor even after you can stand, the Lord keeps saying stay. Sometimes their is a shaking that we can't control. People explaining as deliverance. Sometimes a laugh that we can't control either. Sometimes the weight is just enough to make you sit. I wonder why?

I would think the reason why is the glory of the Lord. In the bible, it speaks of how no one can stand in the presence of His glory.

*You're FEELING the ambience of a cosy and emotionally charged environment. Just think about it, why would you need a human to catch you if the Holy is at work?* *The one reference of someone got slain by the Holy Spirit was Ananias and Sapphira (Act 5:1-11). They lied to the Holy Spirit and got slain. They did not have a catcher either. They simply got slain and never got up!*

I actually stopped watching Encounter TV because of one of his recorded services where people were falling all over. I thought it was ridiculous, no way they were really experiencing healing, the Holy Spirit, etc. I’m really glad you shared this, Troy. I do love David’s teaching, and have gotten so much from watching him. I was skeptical of you at first, also, but the Holy Spirit confirmed to me that you were the real deal.

Thank you for sharing. Yeah, I can say firsthand that what's happening through David's ministry is the real deal. But that doesn't mean every person that falls over was really touched by God. I think sometimes people unfortunately fall over just to look the part. And then there are ministries that simply push people over too, and that's unhealthy.

I've had the very same experience last September at a charismatic revival! I had the same mindset as you, I had never attended a service like that and haven't since. The weightiness of the Lord is real! It's awesome & I've experienced it one other time during my personal prayer and worship time. Noone was home but me that evening & it was a wonderful experience. Different but the same weightiness. It was authority, holiness, righteousness & love all wrapped up together. ❤️🙏 God bless

Just I say" I am desperate for your presence Holy Spirit. Touch me." He does it. Every time. I experienced God's love. Never I had have enough. It is not a regular manifestation in our church. It was a lot of complaining because it wasn't nice. It was noisy and a lot of chairs flew away. Hallelujah!

It's called slain in the Holy Spirit. I have never seen anyone hurt when they fall from the Holy Spirit. God is a gentleman and wont let you get hurt. We never had anyone to catch us either.

Praise the Lord! Very similar experiences in life. One time had opportunity to watch several Baptist students get slain in the Spirit once. Later on kid said the same thing - He WAS NOT going to fall, it's all fake...until he went down. When the Holy Ghost anointing comes upon you, there is no earthly strength that can resist. Thank you for sharing...

The Holy Spirit is more real than we can ever imagine. I am often “ holly” jealous for people who just experience his presence even when they come in with reluctance and determined to not react at his touch, and then you go. I try as I can by the grace of the Holy Spirit to be “all in it” when I pray and in such gatherings. But until now I haven’t experienced it. I am eagerly looking forward for my turn.

I think a lot of it is power of suggestion and expectation. I’ve been to sooooo many charismatic churches and conferences. I fell over when Nancy Dufresne prayed for me and I think I was so excited she was going to pray for me I fell over right when she touched me. I think a lot of it is coming from a place of trauma.. feeling seen by someone who might be nurturing or someone you greatly respect. I felt nothing when Nancy prayed over me but I think I fell because of my own feelings. Kind of like people passing out at Michael Jackson concerts.

Thanks for sharing this experience. This particular encounter that you had is one that is coming under scrutiny in this day and age, because the scriptural backing for it doesn't seem to be there. I've been a Pentecostal/CHarismatic for over 30 years and many of our beliefs and practices are being called into question these days. Did your friend give you any scriptures for what happened to you?

When I was 14 I was at a camp site and the Holy Spirit came on me and I was slain in the spirit. I was in a white dress and there was a fireplace in front of me. We were outside. When I got back up I did not have any soot on my clothing at all. I felt refreshed and blessed. It is amazing what the power of the Holy Spirit does in our lives.

I can relate. I don’t fall much, it’s actually rare but this past Sunday I did. My church is very much Pentecostal. I had a load on my back, had been struggling for weeks to smile and even just read my word. But this past Sunday God touched me, lifted the burden and I just fell on the floor crying under the power of God. The power of God is real. Anyone who experiences it will never ever be the same.

I remember I was in line for prayer. The preacher laid hands on the first person who fell down. He then laid hands on the second person, after he had finished praying for her the girl looked at him and said, “oh, am I meant to fall down” and fell down. The preacher looked at her and said “get up” and moved on to the third person.😂😂😂

Thank you for explaining that, and I've wondered what its like to 'fall out' under the power of Holy Spirit. Surely I will encounter that at some point. Funny how we never read about a deciple holding a service and having “catchers” behind people they prayed for. If God “knocked you down” He would provide a safe “fall”. 😞 sad.

My only concern for all of this, is that I don't have a biblical reference for some of what I've seen. I've been around this sort of thing for many years. I remember when the Toronto Blessing was just starting. John and Carrol Arnott were the pastors at the Airport Vineyard in Toronto, I was attending the Victoria Vineyard, Dave and Yvette were our pastors. I was exposed to this sort of thing daily over years, yet not once was I affected in this sort of way. Don't get me wrong, I know it happens. I'm just not convinced of the source. Be cautious, test the spirits to see if they be from God, not all supernatural is from God.

Being slain in the spirit is kundalini energy. Bible sais that the fruit of light is in all goodness and righteosness in truth. Ephesians 5.9. Then if you read that verse in the context of the chapter, it is pretty self explanatory. I like Ephesians 5.12- depicts charismatic preachers. They are so destitute.
