Nice video Helena. It also showcases how talented you are. I would think that battlefield videos are such a different category from sexology videos at every level ( setting, lighting, continuation ,etc etc ) and your shifting from one to the other seems very seamless, congratulations! Also, I wonder if you have visited a Commonwealth War Grave Cemetary in, say, Gallipoli or France yet. If not, I think the impact of all those men lying in rest might have an even bigger impact on you. Culloden is like every other battlefield visited a long time after the battle. These places are often so ordinary one wonders how anyone could fight, let alone die there. Buit that is history, and unfortunately it always repeats. But I agree- having visited it, Culloden is like Glencoe- a dark feeling place.

It's a very moving place. I am from Clan Robertson. The clan is famous for its association with the Battle of Culloden, where the Robertson's fought on the side of the Jacobite's, and also for their role in the Highland Uprisings, which resulted in the suppression of the clan and the imposition of severe restrictions on its members back in the eighteenth century. ^^

This reminded me when i went to the cemetery and museum of the fallen heroes in world war 1 and 2 in France. It described how each soldier died in the war or how they were sabotaged and killed. History can bring a tear 😢 to your eye. I can see how this in Scotland can bring us tears too. Many moons ago on this history is painful. Tragedies and occurrences that we never knew now take place in our hearts. It can be heartbreaking. Thanks for sharing. 😢

When I last visited the moor over twenty years ago, I was overwhelmed with emotion thinking about them. Your video brought back all those connections and all those feelings.

Thanks for sharing this video. I hope to see Culloden someday but your video might be the closet I will ever see, it was very nice to watch and made me ponder my ancestors that would have been there. I have long lost my Scottish accent as my family left to Ireland after the battle, then to Canada in the early 1800's, but it was nice to hear yours and view that pretty area they now rest. Culloden is the most atmospheric place in Britain.I know it well and first visited when I was 7 yrs and remember my parents said I walked around in hushed awe.I clearly remember looking at the headstone of Mcdonald of Glengarry - where the clan chief and can still feel the tingle that went up my spine.Culloden moor used to be calles Drumossie moor at the time of the battle.I have a vivid imagination

In 1746 the 18-year old Donald Livingstone (Domnhull Molach) rescued the Stewart of Appin regimental banner at the Battle of Culloden and lived to tell the tale. Even though he was shot various times. My father was a 'Livingstone'. 🤔

This battle was not between the English and Scots, it was over who ruled Britain, the Hanoverian or the Stuarts; personally I think the Stuarts had more of a claim, however the better army won. Many Scots fought for the Hanover King and many English fought for the Jacobites.

I visited Culloden in 1996 while on a Rotary Friendship tour. I was the only 1 of our party of 4 who walked part of the Battlefield. The wind was so strong that day I battled to walk. Was never sorry I walked that field.

Very touching video presentation of your visit to Scotland. I was blessed to have visited Scotland twice in the early 80s . On one trip I did some hill walking in the Highlands with our local hosts and it was then I fell in love with this country. The most beautiful place I have ever been. In Dumfries there is a plaque on a building commemorating Charles Edward Stuarts journey North. They were not welcomed 0:44 in Dumfries Also in Carlisle a plaque commemorating his journey North. The presenter seems to be describing Culloden as E gland v Scotland. Not so The Campbells for instance stayed away. A nd re.ember the Highlanders got as far as Derby in England, The presenter seems unaware of this.

Haunting, and deeply moving. While the Jacobite's did lose the battle, they may have won the war. About 40 years later, a substancial number of Highlanders had already begun to immigrate to American Shores. And no doubt as Americans, they fought for the freedom of a new independent nation. I suppose I'd say, in terms of disliking the english. I am English, but my ancestors on these Islands are Scotish, and further back they were Nords who settled far in the north. This was an internal thing, northern-western europeans were in a way a single peoples that were made up of many peoples. If you had read the information in the exhibition and listened to the guide in your video you would have known that this battle was NOT about Scots fighting against British rule, it was about who was on the British throne. The Jacobites wanted to overthrow the Hanovarian King and restore the Stuart dynasty by making Bonnie Prince Charlie the King of Great Britain.

Absolutely missed the point. Not a battle between english and Scottish. The battle was between Government troops and Jocobean troops (I've just visited today). There were Scottish on both sides. Why could a battle over 250 years ago between two sides neither of whom had a single nationality break your heart?

Well, it seems that you absolutely missed the point of my video! How would visiting a massive grave NOT break your heart? And I've been shown many spots all over Scotland that were kept as reminders of the brutality that the British were showing to the locals. P. ex. many, many burnt homes that were actually execution sites because all the inhabitants were locked inside. Are you sure you understand the meaning of compassion if you're not seeing an issue with people killing each other on such a scale??... 🙄

Makes me reflect but doesn't break my heart. If my wife and kids died tomorrow that would break my heart. Going to Bannockburn Saturday, 12,000 men killed over 700 years ago, will I need to be heartbroken?
