Guess who is now a fully qualified Science teacher?! ME!! 🥳🙌 I know it has been over a year since I last posted but that is for good reason, I have been busy teaching kids in the classroom about the wonders of our world.👨‍🏫 I'm back now and I will be posting far more regularly! I'm hoping to release AT LEAST 1 new video every week from here on out! Thank you to everyone who commented/messaged me over the last few months asking what's happened to me and the channel. Training to be a teacher has been the MOST STRESSFUL year of my life and it demanded 1000% focus at all times so I genuinely didn't have any spare time to make these videos. Also, MASSIVE THANK YOU to "Cokemon" they've been subscribed to my KZbin membership all this time even whilst I haven't been posting, I greatly appreciate your help. 🙏 STAY TUNED, PLENTY MORE ASTRONOMY VIDEOS TO COME OVER THE NEXT FEW WEEKS! 🥳✨🔭 #ImBackBaby

This reminded me of my childhood in India when I could view the starry nights every summer, bright and dark since I grew up in a remote town with regular power outages, and I could even see the Milky Way. These encounters not only piqued my interest in astronomy but also shaped my understanding of our enigmatic universe.

I was deployed to Iraq 17 years ago and was just outside of the city of Tal Afar in the Northern part of the country. The night sky was just spectacular with the most impressive view of the Milky Way I have ever seen. Thanks for the primer on the Bortles Scale. I now live just outside of Washington DC so I do not see much at night.

Nice! I grew up in a very small town in South Africa - and frequently went on fishing trips to local dams and reservoirs with my parents and grandparents. I have such vivid memories of profound darkness, where it would be so dark at night, you couldn't see your hands in front of your face. But perhaps the most amazing, were the incredible views of the Milky Way. A canvas of stars so bright, I spent many childhood nights just staring in wonder I'm glad you were able to see the stars

A most fun video about your star party trip! I share your enthusiasm with seeing dark skies for the first time. My first dark sky experience was 45 years ago while vacationing with my family in Key West. The next one was around Ayres Rock twenty years ago. The last time was at Sea Rim Park (Texas), on the coasts of The Gulf of Mexico . This is something that one cherishes a lifetime.

I still remember those days when visiting my grandparents house in a remote village in Southern India in 1990s we used to see Milkyway while sleeping in the backyard and slip to deep-sleep, and if you are lucky enough you will as well see Satellites moving. Those were summer holidays period with clearest sky. So many years passed, but every time I visit those places I strive to have that glimpse but sadly never ever able to see as light pollution are covered everything.

I wasn’t expecting a travel vlog style video especially with comedy thrown in but I loved this! I used to be a planetarium operator at a place called “the challenger learning center”, and one of the most rewarding things was seeing the look of awe on the kids faces. Brings me back to all of those moments I’ve had, and to see someone so knowledgeable have that same experience is truly well deserved. I’d love to hear more about your teaching as well!

Tenerife is Bortle 4, maybe 3 is you are lucky. It is significantly better than a typical urban location, but the sky quality is nowhere near the best in the world. You can see how bright the clouds are at 6:00 due to excessive light pollution. In a truly dark Bortle 1 location, the clouds are just black, starless patches in the sky as nothing illuminated them from below.

For years and years I’ve been into astronomy. Everytime I look up I just imagine how mind-blowingly huge it is out there and nothing fascinates me more than when I look up at a clear nights sky. Recently I’ve started visiting places far out from the city to stand out and stare into the night sky and unlock more and more as my eyes adjust. Everything you say in this video excites me as I understand exactly what you mean about how it excites you. There is no joy I get like when I stare up there and If anyone knows any location in the UK where I can go and stare out into the night sky then PLEASE let me know!

That was the ISS, I've seen it here at one of my Astro Club's star parties in what used to be Bortle 3 skies, but has now edged over Bortle 4 because of local development around the Club's Walter Haas Observatory in the Leasburg Park and Dam campground. It has a roll off roof with a Mead 16 inch LX-200 graciously donated by University of NM. One of our founding members was Clyde 'it's still a planet' Tombaugh.😄 I live in Southern New Mexico and my usual stargazing site is on a dirt road that ends at a chain link fence with a gate that says; No Trespassing: White Sands Missile Range on it. It is Bortle two at 5300 feet or 1.61 km elevation and on the other side of the fence not too far away is Bortle one. So close enough, but it certainly isn't as close to the Equator as you are in the Canary Islands. You film the LMC & SMC? I can drive to Bortle one, but my spot is only 30 miles away if it's that much. Bortle one SQM 22.00 is 66 miles up a winding mountain road. It is a lower than your 3700 meters elevation there.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience and for this wonderful video. The view of the night sky filled with billions of stars are one of the reason that keeps me going. I hope and I will also be able to visit this place oneday and feel ONE with the UNIVERSE. Stars are my inspiration and a living dream. In the video (8:55) I guess it's our International Space Station or maybe a satellite if I'm not wrong. Lastly welcome back and congratulations. I've been searching for live star videos for a month now since I'm living far away from home (4 Bortle Scale sky) and the place that I'm currently residing right now has literally (9 Bortle Scale sky), so I really miss watching the stars and specially since winter is knocking at our doors, you know how wonderful the night skies are, I remember bidding goodye to Orion in March, oh how I miss them rising together with the 7 sisters followed by Sirius. And yes the Andromeda too. I am very thankful for this short clip it really made my day.

I can see it every night in my village (South Europe), although a big city with much light pollution is just a few kilometers away. It has always been like that since I remember. We were going to enjoy the night with friends and do some water sports next day. But what I saw that night was once in a life time... that beach was really far from any city and the sky was completely clear, literally zero clouds and for the first time in my life I was being able to see the milky way with my bare eyes, It was shocking for me, I had the same face as you do in this video, so I can undestand your excitement... I love the topic of UFOlogy. I 100% believe WE are being visited here on Earth and the powers that be have known about it for decades if not centuries. Have you ever seen anything you can't explain during your sky watching? Next time I go to Tenarife I will definitely go up that volcano.
