I've never been to the southern hemisphere, but I imagine the Large Magellanic Cloud is really cool to see, being even larger in the sky than Andromeda. Also, the galactic core seen directly up while the sun is directly below in the southern hemisphere, must be amazing to see.

Okay so in New Zealand there is a place called lake tekapo and it is one of the top places for stargazing in the world, and you get to see the Magellanic Clouds right above your head (when I first saw them I thought they were just clouds)

I loved this video! I live in a bortle 9 and I haven't had a lot of time away from the city since getting into astronomy. Moon and the planets are great but I'm looking forward to my next trip to a dark location to see more objects. To be honest, the city sky still has a lot to offer if you have a pair of binoculars, but I'd love to see some deep sky objects that are impossible to catch in the city.

Just some tips: when using a flashlight, use a red flashlight because red lights minimize light pollution. Also if your using an iPhone to take pictures of the night sky, you can use long exposure which is an option on the camera. And when taking long exposures you should try and lean it against something because when it’s still enough it can do a 30 sec exposure. And the last tip is to use an app like SkyView Lite and or Stellerrium because you can navigate the night sky with them. (I also recommend bringing binoculars)

I live in Germany, but in a more suburban place like smaller villages. I was able to not only capture the milky way, but also see it ! Unfortunately, light pollution is still present, messing up my astrophotography images.

Had a clear sky today in a few weeks, and saw a line of around 10 to 15 starlink satelights travelling across the sky in a straight line, quite a spectacle. Also saw another bright light and I believe that was the ISS. Also saw jupiter banding through my telescope, saturn and the seven sisters. Unfortunately, even though I'm 10 miles from Leeds, it still affects my night sky quite a bit because of all the light pollution.

I saw a meteor ( we called it falling star, back then) when I was a teenager back home in Antique, Philippines, maybe about 35 years ago…back then, my hometown barely had any houses around, it was so dark at night, you can see the night sky so clearly…if I knew then what I know now, I should’ve looked at the night sky very differently…now, it is in my bucket list to see the Milky Way and the northern lights!

Andromeda absolutely is NOT the most distant thing we can see with the naked eye. The Triangulum Galaxy is right next door to Andromeda and is farther and fainter still. Even though it's smaller, it's still easily visible in a dark sky with good vision.

Some days ago We went to our village (there was not so much light pollution, some of them dont even know what is bulb or led) It was like i can see the whole universe from there. I saw some constellations. Maybe i saw a nebula (idk that was actually a nebula but i googled that and that nebula was literally at the same sky) and the most fun part is i saw andromeda galaxy in my naked eye. That was the best experience of my life

naww about the meteor one, we were just randomly at the beach at like 9 pm one day, a huuge meteor passed right over us and it was so close i could see the red burning side of it quite clearly. It wasnt glowing all that much like in the video and it way heading a quite strange angle (from north to south) it was so close infact it at most was 2 Kilometers above us. took like 2 seconds to reach from the very far back to invisible. Made no noise tho. i wasnt expecting to see it, was litterally turning to my side and looked up a lil' and would you look at that! A darn meteor litterally right above us. Happened last years summer.

May I ask,I have only just became interested in astronomy due to seeing something I couldn't explain and when I told friends they said it was simply a meteorite but I don't agree!I saw what I thought was 3 stars and took a uneducated guess it was Orion's belt but the 2 outside stars started slowly moving downward leaving the centre one static and then in a unbelievable speed turned 360' and shot upwards super fast Could you please tell me what I witnessed.

It's so light polluted here. But when I go visit grandparents, the sky is beautiful. But I'm not brave enough to go outside in the pitch black so I turn the lights on, place my phone on something like a chair and start capturing 8 sec long exposures. I couldn't do much since the lights are off and the camera is wide angle. But still the best photo I've ever taken after the one where I captured meteor pointing at the pleiades

I recommend that you use red lights when going outside because red lights are minimal light pollution compared to white lights. Also if your using an IPhone, you can take 30 sec exposures if you keep your phone still enough, I recommend leaning it against something
