Choosing between Franklin's and T. Blacks is like trying to pick your favorite child. Both places are BBQ stars, both use the salt/pepper mix, both use about the same cook times and woods and they both have great flavor foundation. The difference is, personal preference. Personally, I'm not big on Franklin's coleslaw because it's vinegar based (but that might be your flavor). Franklin's might be (a little more) on the salty side with the bark, but again, that might be your flavor preference. T.B.'s monster handle bar rib is straight from Godzilla's left side. If you're from out of town, getting a picture of that bone next to your mug is worth the trip itself. Local here and I say if you're in town, try both a few days apart. Then, go about and try the other 1 million eatery's (for dessert) in Austin.

I love Blacks original location south of Austin. My favorites are the turkey, sausage, pork ribs. I always order a whole smoked chicken for the ride home for dinner.

Franklin is worth the wait. Best brisket in TX. Not the best overall bbq, the sides are very lackluster. Interstellar was the best overall experience in Austin.

Can you do a review on Terry Black's in Lockhart, Barbs B Q in Lockhart, and the 2 BBQ spots in Luling TX. For me Barbs b q has the best ribs with a lemon zest

It's all in how close you live to each. They are about 3 hours (190 miles) away from each other, so, If you're in Austin, its Franklin or T. Blacks. If you're in Ft. Worth, you're pulling for Goldee's. Both are hella good though.
