Dan and Susie, I’m a grandma and your videos are totally MY FAVORITE 😍! My advice is to get the pine wood bunk bed. It is great to have the bigger bed on the bottom for overnight guests! I purchased one like it when my son was young and it was used more than I thought it would be. We would put a blanket from the top bunk to the bottom and make a “fort” to play in! It brings back wonderful memories 🥰 she will grow so fast!

We had the wood bunk bed with the double mattress (2 person) on bottom and the twin size mattress (single person) on top. It worked out very well for us and lasted for years. We passed it on to my sister in law when our children outgrew bunk beds and now one of her children are using it for their children. It's lasted for 3 generations so far, so you get what you pay for. Sati is getting so big. I can't believe she's almost ready for a big girl bed...

Wood, solid wood is the only way to go. My family are avid antique collectors. My husband's family bought "modern" furniture. Our home flooded during Hurricane Harvey in 2017. All the solid oak pieces of mine survived with a rinsing. All of my husband's dressers etc, swelled up and fell apart, they are now in the garbage dump. Right where they always belonged.

Don't worry about a bed set being for a teenager. Sati will be a teenager one day ant you won't have to buy her a new bedroom suite. I liked the second one for $700.00+ but it would be best to buy what you can afford. Later you can add the matching pieces like a dresser, chest, and even a desk and chair for when she starts to school and needs a place to do her homework. Thanks for taking us shopping with you. We love seeing what you have to choose from.

If you can afford the pine bed with larger bottom bed, I would go for it. It will see Sati into her teen years if she takes care of it. Then you won't need to buy one later that is big enough. When friends come over as she gets older they will sit on it and read magazines and talk about boys. lol. It can be a very good investment. Some bunk beds can be seperated, so the top bunk can be removed so both beds can be used seperately. This works well if you have a daughter and a son. One bed for girl's bedroom, the 2nd bed moved to boy's bedroom. You can learn how to build a bed on line. Then you just need to purchase mattresses .

Will Sati ever have sleepovers with girlfriends or cousins? If so, that 1st bed with the larger bottom would make a lot of sense! Plus you can always paint the wood any color. You could even do stencils or stickers (that you lacquer over) for designs, that you could change as she grows!!! Something to think about. Plus it will be a larger big which would last her long. Like others have said, I can't believe how she is growing. I'll never forget sitting up with Dan outside the hospital!!! Hugs to my far away adorable friends!!

The way Sati lays her head down on the bed, just too adorable!! Think of the bed as an investment, its going to grow with her and hopefully last her for the rest of her childhood (and maybe even other children you have too to be passed down!) Matresses will always need replaced but if its made of solid good wood, it can always be repaired if something goes wrong. And if you go with something basic and gender neutral it will never go out of style. You could even paint it for personalization down the line. I remember having old army issued bunk beds for me and my brother growing up. They were made of real wood and could be separated or stacked. They were VERY sturdy and easy to repair. You can't go wrong with a solid wood frame
@luadraponies2 жыл бұрын
That style was good. Had one not army but solid wood that two that stacked so two rooms, daughter and son, and a trundle. Second hand. IKEA has filled the world with all the same things. Individual styles and different country styles have gone.

With bunk beds, it's a very good idea to get the guards made of a plasticy rubber for the corners. My friend's son fell of the top bunk and hit his head on the corner. It affected his brain. Kids like to play and accidents happen. Better to be safe!

Speaking as a mom i suggest the second bed you looked at. It was solid construction and while you did not like the idea of the larger bottom it has its benefits. As said by others if she has visitors it gives you more room, but also how many nights will you be reading bedtime stories? This will keep you from bashing your head into the upper bed every night, it gives you a place to sit and talk to them. It has a lot to offer. The only down side i see if you will need separate sheet sets for each mattress. But it also has a slanted ladder. The beds with the drawers in actual stairs is nice if you have a huge room but most kids will not have a room big enough to make a bed like that practical.
